Venetian Flooring Systems

Over the last year, we have renovated almost every area of our condo (two bathrooms gutted and redone, recessed lighting in kitchen, new kitchen counter-tops, etc.). During this process, we've worked with a variety of contractors. Some experiences were horrible, others not-so-bad. VFS was outstanding--a great experience from start to finish. Here's how it went:
1. Called VFS. Live person picked up and within a couple of minutes, we had booked an appointment to have a representative come over.
2. Eric was our rep. His initial visit was about 20 minutes. Friendly and efficient. He had brought over many samples for me and my wife to look at. He answered all our questions and was not sales-ish at all. He was at our our home just long enough for us to pick the laminate we wanted and answer all our questions. From previously experience, I know some companies like to filibuster about how special their product is; I value my time, so I find that annoying. Before Eric left, we had agreed on an installation date!
3. Eric showed up early on the morning of the installation to get his ducks in a row. About an hour or two later, the workers showed up, moved the furniture and installed the flooring. Granted, we have a pretty small space, but they completed the installation of flooring in our living room and hallway in just one day. Awesome!
The workers were efficient and polite and gave a solid effort at clean-up. Most importantly, the flooring and baseboards they installed look GREAT!!
We hope to be moving into a bigger place in the next year. If our new home needs flooring, I will absolutely call VFS again to perform the work.

VFS probably does not need yet  another rave review, but Eric and his team deserve even more praise!  My husband and I have been delighted every step of the process. Eric is professional and experienced/knowledgeable about his craft. He gave us a detailed quote and pointed out issues and challenges regarding our particular situation that other flooring contractors did not point out. We appreciated the forewarning (specifically, changes in floor level resulting from replacing thick brick tiles with engineered hardwood). As far as price, he was just slightly below another company that had been recommended to us and included new baseboards, but it was not price that sold us on VFS. I personally loved working with someone who was responsive via both phone and email, and it's not always easy to find contractors who are responsive via email! Eric also helped us pick out gorgeous white oak floors that would work well with having a toddler running around. I also loved that he called to confirm a few days before the work started AND that during the five days of work, he called us with updates periodically. His crew finished on time (even a few hours early!) and we are more than pleased with the results. Great attention to detail, too. Plus, I have to give them particular praise for the demolition work. Removing several (I think it was 4 or 5) TONS of brick flooring was probably more work than they imagined. Amazing that they were able to pull it off! Eric, Andy and the crew has done a fantastic job !!!! Selected them based on Angie List and Yelp reviews. We are so glad that we did,. Their price is very competitive and their service is just SUPERB !!!! They are courteous, prompt, thorough, attentive and very professional about their jobs.

Eric was very helpful and easy to work with as I described what I was looking for Venetian flooring to do. Eric made helpful suggestions and had plenty of samples for me to chose from. Eric explained that the stairs from my living room to my dining room would need to be custom made, since they are radius. He promised to have a proposal to me in four days, since he needed to work with a custom stair contractor to obtain pricing. Eric had the proposal to me as promised, and the price was fair for the work that needed to be done. Eric explained that my job would require a three step process ( demolition, installation of flooring and custom stairs, and staining of custom stairs. On the day of demolition, Eric and his crew discovered that my existing hardwood floor had been installed incorrectly with the wrong adhesive. Eric called to let me know that the demolition was going to take longer than expected ,since they were having trouble pulling the old floor up. Eric let me know my price would not change, even though my job would require more time and the installation of new plywood to level my sub floor. Needless to say I was shocked and very grateful I was dealing with such a customer focused company. On the day on installation, Eric and his crew were once again punctual and did an amazing job. They moved my furniture with great care, and installed my new floor with great precision. My husband and I are thrilled with the end product, and would definitely recommend Venetian Flooring to our friends and family.

The whole process went very well. Eric, his project manager Chris and the entire team did a great job. They had scheduled 4 days but were able to finish the entire project in 3 days. They were very efficient and professional and left the house as clean as possible. Our new floors are even more beautiful than we imagined. They really did a fantastic job and paid attention to every little detail. Eric came by on the first day early in the morning before his crew arrived and he also came by on the last day to make sure everything went well. We are so happy we went with Eric. We got several quotes and even so Venetian was not the lowest, we decided to go with Eric because we really felt he was a pro and we saw the reviews on Angie's List. We are very happy with our choice and our beautiful new floors. We highly recommend Venetian Flooring, they do quality work and it shows.

As others have said, Eric is great. He brought floor samples to our home. When we narrowed it down to two, he candidly advised us on which looks better when installed and why. He gave us so much confidence about our choice, that we ended up installing the floor upstairs too, something we initially were not going to do. It just makes a huge difference to me to have trust in the person and company you are dealing with. The entire team is very professional, cleaned up at night, and finished on time. The floors turned out beautiful. Now if I could also use them as my plumber, mechanic, house painter, appliance store, and electrician, my life would be much simpler.

It was easy from the beginning to the end of the project. Eric Choi and Edward, his crew manager, did a great job. They were on time, efficient and clean. They helped to remove the larger pieces of furniture, and placed them back at the end of the job. Also in the quote they included new 5" baseboards which made the flooring look even better. Other companies quotes were around the same, but they quoted many more days to do the job, and the baseboards were going to be extra. I also liked that they went around and and touched up any imperfections on the flooring, baseboards. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Great people to work with.

We had a great experience with Venetian Flooring.  Eric Choi was kind enough to come to our house with hardwood samples on a couple of different occasions.  Not only did he give us an estimate within hours of our very first meeting, but he also sent us copies of the company's credentials, along with photos of some of their recent projects.  (This really impressed us since we didn't ask for him to provide those things.)  When we selected the wood we wanted to go with, he gave us a quote that was significantly lower than the other quotes we received.  Needless to say, we decided to hire Venetian Flooring for the job.  The entire project only took two days, which was really impressive.  Andrew and the rest of the demo/installation crew were amazing.  Eric stressed that good customer service is extremely important to the company and we could really tell.  During the entire process, Eric was always very professional, polite, and punctual (in fact, he called and asked if he could come early a couple of times).  We have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience and highly recommend Venetian Flooring.

**Update- I have upgraded the rating for Eric's company to "A" 
I truly believe Eric has learned from his mistakes and will correct this problem in the future.

I have worked with a lot of companies and I must say Eric and his company is a class act.

He called me twice to apologize and kept asking what he could do to correct the problem.

He agree to refund us $700 for the cleaning of the house from the dust and I think this is fair.

I will go with him in the future for any flooring needs.

Everything seemed fine until after they demolished the tile floors.

They demolished the tile floors the "lazy" way.  A fine dust from the demolished tile was stuck on every thing and every where in the house.
My wife and I could not believe how Eric could have misrepresented the impact of the fine dust all over our house.
I am still concerned about the health effects of the fine white powder dust that has accumulated all over the house.
I am thinking about calling the OC health department to complain.
I spoke to another contractor and he said they should have demolished the tiles by covering the tile with wet towels to keep the dust from flying all over the house.
My wife and I have spent over almost two weeks trying to vacuum and dust off the white dust all over the walls and ceiling fans and blinds and etc... the cleaning seems to never end.

My wife called Eric to complain but his response was we should call a cleaning company. And who will pay for the cleaning company?  Anyway My wife is very upset so she is not willing to talk with Eric or anybody from his company.

The flooring installation looks good.  But my god, the white powdery dust is everywhere!

People if you are going with this company make sure they either cover everything in the house, or demolish the tiles the right way to not cause dust, and/or make sure you get Eric to cover EVERYTHING in the house and have Eric pay for cleaning the house afterward.

I hope the white powder does not cause myself and family to get some lung disease in the future.

Just wanted to calculate the time spent cleaning the white dust from my house, 2 to 3 weeks to clean.
I would charge Eric and his company about $800 dollars for the time my wife and I spent cleaning.

Eric promptly scheduled an appointment to provide an estimate.  He asked what type of hardwood I was interested in so that he could be sure to bring the appropriate samples.  He arrived on time, was professional and patient with all of my questions.  I narrowed it down to two types of hardwood while Eric measured the space to provide me with an estimate.  At the time, they were having a promotion on the price of the hardwood AND they were throwing in the baseboards for free so I felt it was a great deal.  A few weeks later, I called Eric back to schedule another appointment with him since my husband was now available to take a look at the two options.  Eric came out again and brought the two samples.  We selected the darker of the two samples and scheduled the installation for two months later.  Then, a couple of weeks had passed and we started to have doubts about the color we chose.  We called Eric again and he graciously came out without hesitation to show us the samples for the third time.  

Two weeks before the scheduled installation, Eric contacted us to confirm our installation date.  On the day of the installation, Eric arrived 30 mins early to check if we had any other questions.  His crew arrived on time and he reviewed everything with the project manager who was overseeing the installation.  They had a crew of about 5 and these guys were incredibly efficient.  They were working from the moment they arrived until they left with only a short lunch break.  About a quarter of the way through the installation, the project manager stopped to ask if we were okay with the color variant of the planks.  A number of the planks looked much lighter than the others in the batch.  From my research of hardwood, I knew that it was not uncommon to find a range of grain, knots and even varying shades from plank to plank within the same type of wood.  The PM informed us that there are a number of planks that are a bit lighter than the others so they would need to be installed somewhere or there wouldn't be enough for the entire project.   We decided to prioritize where the darker planks would be installed (living & dining rooms) and where it was okay to install the lighter wood (bathroom and kitchen).  The PM immediately replaced the lighter planks already installed in the dining room with the darker planks without question.  The entire installation took about 10 hours but they did a beautiful job through and through!  

We highly recommend Venetian Flooring for hardwood floor installations.  Eric is professional, friendly and reliable.  It's no wonder why they have so many great reviews on Angie's List.  We only wished that there were more home remodeling professionals like them!

The sales and installation crew from Venitian Flooring did a superb job. I contracted for the entire house, about 1500 sq.ft, and the job was completed to my satisfaction in two days. Our salesman Eric Choi gave us an incredable price on exactly the type of flooring we wanted. Eric was profesional, always punctual, and inspected the job each day. The installers are hardworking and top notch with floors. It is no surprise why the Irvine Coporation uses Venitian Flooring as thier flooring contractor.

Eric and his crew were fantastic! Eric is one of the most professional people we have ever worked with - he came to our house to show us hardwood samples, helped us decide between different options, gave us an amazing price (25% lower than other places) and threw in all sorts of upgrades for free (including beautiful 6" baseboards that he even installed in a room where we kept our old flooring). On top of all that, his crew demo'd and installed everything in only 2 days, all with attention to the smallest of details. Even our contractor was impressed, and asked for Eric's contact info to recommend him to future clients. It was the best experience of our entire remodel!

They did a great job. We had a problem with the first flooring they put down, but they took all of it up and fixed it with the correct flooring. I've recommended them to friends since then.

Eric and Venetian Flooring was very professional and sent us a detailed quote via email within a day. He listed all the work his team would do, including addressing the transition areas into rooms and with stone and tile floors. In the end, the cost was less than quoted because there was an end-of-the-year sale on the laminate we used. Additionally, the work was done EARLY! It assumed it would take all day, but they were done a few hours ahead of schedule. They even replaced all the base boards for FREE and included the base boards in a laundry room behind our washer/dryer. Now that was a pleasant surprise.

The job went fabulous. Eric was very professional. I had gotten three other quotes. Two of them were around the same price and one was a lot higher. I picked Eric because he was very professional and knowledgeable. After meeting Eric, I knew this was the company for us. His employees were prompt and very personable. Top quality workmanship and phenomenal customer service. From start to finish, Venetian Flooring Systems is all about the customer. Eric is the perfect sales manager?courteous, friendly, and attentive. At our initial appointment, he thoroughly explained the installation process and patiently answered our many questions. We were instantly comfortable with the company?s approach and extremely pleased with their price. Prior to and during the installation, Eric called regularly to update us on the job?s status. The foreman Andrew and his crew were professional and friendly, and they did a beautiful job on the floors and stairs. We were especially impressed with the attention to detail on the stairway and landing, and the baseboard work around the stairs. The crew was respectful of our home, and left it very clean and neat. Eric had originally estimated that the installation would take 3-4 days, but due to the unexpected availability of an extra crew on the first day, it was completed in two. During the final walk-through, Eric wanted to make sure that we were completely satisfied with the final result. And he meant it. A week later, we wanted to replace two pieces of stair nose and a floorboard just because we didn?t like the color. We called Eric, and without hesitation, he arranged for the extra work to be done. Even though the change was due to our pickiness, and not the company?s fault, he did not charge us for the additional labor, only the cost of the extra materials. The follow-up was done promptly and to the same high standards as the original work. Venetian Flooring Systems definitely delivered on its promise of total customer satisfaction, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Eric was an absolute pleasure to work with. He has tremendous knowledge of the industry and provided us with invaluable insights in choosing the right floors to fit us. He delivered everything he promised, plus extra!! The workers were meticulous and their attention to detail was superb. They were responsive and agreeable to any requests we made, no matter how trivial they might seem. We are 110% satisfied with Venetian Flooring System and our only regret is that they did such a good job that we probably won't ever need their services for the floors again! :)

The company was technically not the least expensive quote we were given, but quite competitively priced -- esp. given its reputation and the other big clients they have. They are an excellent value for the service they provide. Eric was able to give me helpful estimates on the phone, then realistically revised after a free consult visit. He was able to make an appt and visit the home within a few days of my first call. Everything was done a week (or two, I can't remember now) thereafter. Eric gave excellent recommendations -- for example, I wanted bamboo flooring for aesthetic, financial, and eco-friendly reasons. B/c I have a one-story concrete slab floor he strongly recommended against this, encouraging to do my own internet research as well. I believe he said his company could not install the flooring if I went with bamboo, b/c he couldn't be confident of its longevity and customer satisfaction. In any case, I ended up going with a natural engineered maple, with which I'm very pleased. On the day of the work, he introduced my husband to the head person, and they stayed at the home for almost an hour waiting for us to return and inspect the work! (There was a miscommunication and I didn't know they were waiting for us). Eric called apologizing profusely for not being able to be there to tour the finished rooms with me -- something I didn't expect from him anyways!

It's been three days since I've had my new floor and I am still amazed with the quality of work that was done! I have yet to find anything they could have done better. I am so happy with how my place looks, my girlfriend has caught me just standing around and staring at the floor! Eric was the one who came out for the estimate. He was running just 10 minutes late and even called me about half an hour prior to let me know. He was extremely polite and very informative. At no point did I ever feel pressured to move forward with anything. When he finished his measurements and presented me with the estimate, I had to have him repeat the total price because I couldn't believe how low it was! Not to mention, they would have everything done in one day! On the day the work was done, Eric arrived right on time at 8am to go over what will be done. The crew arrived shortly after and got right to work. Eric called me later in the day to let me know that they should be done around 5:30pm. When I got home at that time, the crew was putting in some finishing touches and sweeping up. Even though I was told it would be done in one day, I still couldn't believe it! The crew was very courteous and left the place nice and clean. They seriously couldn't have done a better job. I am extremely pleased with the quality of work, price, and service. It's no surprise that they have gotten the best grades across the board. I really wish they did other home remodeling work!

They will be coming in a couple of weeks to do the work. They were really nice and very professional. They were like people you would want to work with. They answered all my questions.

Arrived early, provided samples based on what I requested. Installation took 1 day with 3 men. They were very neat and thorough. The floors and baseboards turned out great. I would definitely use them again.

I am so pleased with my new floors. Venetian did an excellent job and it was done in one day! Replaced all baseboards on 2nd floor too! I chose a wide plank laminate that is wearing well. Just mop and go. Love it! No more carpet in my house and I am sooooooo happy about that!
