I'm taking the time to review (even though I have two kids under the age of 3 and have my hands full! at the moment!) because the service we had was so great. They took out and redid the grout on the kitchen counter, fixed the loose grout in our powder room and the main work was in our master bathroom. There was rusty and musty looking buildup even though we had it as clean as possible that went to the right and left of our glass shower door. We were even getting little bugs growing in the cracks of the tile and with the cleaning, patching and new grout it is a different place to be now! My husband and I are thrilled with the work.
Last thing, Chris used the other bathroom that I hadn't shown him yet at the end of the job and he saw a few problems that I hand't before and he took it upon himself to fix that for no extra charge. I'm glad I asked him to use that bathroom instead of the other ones he had worked on because his keen eye saw a few problems that I hadn't.

Chris called early in the morning of the job to confirm he was coming over.    He performed the following activities:    Washed and cleaned off the patio area.     After all was dried,  applied 4 coats of sealer.     All was done and completed in the same day.
He left product so I could do any touch up during the year and provided a 6 month guarantee for the sealing.
There was no mess and the patio looked as good as when it was poured June of last year.
Would "highly" recommend this company to do any coating and sealing of contrete areas.

I found Chris on Angie's List and called him last week.  He said he would come out today and look at my cracked granite.  He showed up on time, looked at the problem, told me what he could do to fix it, AND fixed it.  I did not expect him to do the job immediately, but was delighted when he did.
While he was at our home, my wife asked him about some holes in our travertine floor; Chris fixed those also at no additional charge.  This guy is great.  He is honest, explains what he can and cannot do, and does excellent work.

Worst experience ever. After cancelling our initial appointment because someone broke in their truck and stole all of their equipment the crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. I had to work that day so I left for work and did not witness what they (3 person team) did. When I got home I was very disappointed. My floor looked liked it had been mopped only. There were several areas that were white/gray. The grout wasn't repaired as discussed and there was NO shine to my floor at all. On top of that we left only two pieces of furniture that we couldn't move and they didn't even move those. They just mopped around them. My contract states that they were going to degrease/strip old finish, condition and seal with highgloss sealer. Well it looked like they forgot the last two steps. My floor is dull...again with white/gray spots. I can say my floor looked much better before Marble & Stonelife touched it. Chris, the owner, also told me that he would fill in areas that were missing grout, which they did in some areas but not all. The following Monday, 4/21/14 I called Chris and told him I was very unhappy. Explained what the floor looked like and he said he'd be back that Thursday, 4/24/14 to fix it. To this day, I haven't heard from him. Didn't show up and didn't call. Very disappointed...would not recommend. If I had the time I'd take them to small claims court.

Not a man of your word. You NEVER told me you were on a hotel lobby job. You told me that you would be at my home on 4/24 to fix my floor and I still have not heard from you. At this point, I DO NOT want to do business with you.
Response from Marble & Stonelife
"I am not enjoying to response this kind of ugly review from client. We've been trying to sevice very hard and deliver the fine result to every customers since 1987. Still can't make everybody happy. 35 yrs old never been serviced black slate floors with tons of dirt and wax builups. Middle of floors had mega size rugs many yrs. When we start to degrease and stripping old finish, we noticed various discoloration spots, because of fading from sun light and acid base chemical damage over the yrs. Restoration is not the magic, bring back to abandon floors to certain level without spend harsh replacing cost for entire floor. Two heavy wooden furntures against walls and we never discusss to move because of sizes and weights. We are not a licsneced mover to take a chance to get damage claim. We seal with high gloss stone sealer total 5 coats. floors looked the better than ever, but could not hide discoloration spots. Slate floors can't be grind or hone like marble or limestone. When she called, I exactly told her we will reschedule and try to improve every details with her consent, but we engaged giant job on Hotel lobby restoration job and told her need at least 6 weeks to re-schedule and that projects just completed last week. Check our other reviews with many other satisfied clients. We are not perfect, but like to challange to the best we can. We are the 2012 & 2013 Super Service Award Winner."

It went fabulously well. Chris and his son Jonathan did a fine job on the floors both the length of the entry and the whole master bath. Also they finished the slate top of the counter in the master bath with sealer. They repair a patch in the kitchen in the granite behind the faucet and it looks great. We are very pleased and would recommend them to anyone!!! Bid was thorough and done over the phone!

The team showed up at the house to clean, polish and seal the very beautiful and rare marble countertops on time on the date scheduled.  They didn't cover the floor, cabinets or appliances with plastic.  I didn't understand the implications of this until later.  They worked very fast and were finished within two hours.  I did come thru and ask them to be sure and clean up all the splatter they had left on everything in the kitchen.  They left and the housekeeper called my attention to the mess they had left and that the marble was cloudy and had large circular scratches that were left by the crew.  I called and told them that there was a huge problem with the work they had done and that it needed to be corrected.  They sent another team out (the original guy didn't return) who worked 5 hours correcting the first job - they covered everything in the kitchen with plastic to protect it.  They were not happy when they told us they were done and I went back over the counters and marked all the scratches that they had not repaired.  The crew leader was grumbling and pushy.  I told him he shouldn't be angry at me, but at the Chris Chai who had done the very bad work in the first place.  They continued to work on the countertops and then left without asking for us to review their work.  There are still some small scratches left, but overall it looks better than it did.  I would not use them again or recommend them.  The marble countertops are very distinct and full of fossils - This company presented itself as appreciating the beauty of the marble, but didn't have the skill to provide the care that was needed.  the scratches were made by their circular polishing tools.
Response from Marble & Stonelife
"Hate to respond this kind of excetional customer's unfair comment. Impossible to make everyone happy, but this particular projects was messy (tons of wine stain, rings and scratches, etc) kitchen counter tops surface of polished black limestone (Not a marble), and which is the most delicate stone to re-fnish. Both time of services, home owner was on trip, so we imagine this comment made by House keeper who inspected the job and pay us initially. House has sever lighting problems on especially kitchen, we re-surface entire counter tops 3 time to remove saturated checmical and wine etching stain include the scratches and wrap enough taping with plastic to protect surrounding areas. Houskeeper inspected the job and gave us a check, and she was so happy to see high polished stone surface. 24 housr later, shes called us and she found some scratches. I reponded to her light system was so dark to identified details, and promised her to re-set the schedule to collect the problem. We send our crew to collect the problem. She re-inspected the job result and did not complaint this time. That was it. Human made mistake, but we respond her her quickly to re-schedule and collect the problem That is what we called immediate service to collect the problem. If we were that bad? How come we had 2012 &2013 Super Service Award (which only 5 % of entire contractor have a chance to win) honor? We done what we can do the best in time to collection. First day, we worked 4 1/2 hours 2 persons (9 hours), and 2nd day, we worked 5 hours 2 persons (10 hours). 2 days, we worked 5 hours 2 persons"

Although this review is waaaay late in being submitted, I want all Angie's List members to know that you could never ask for a better experience, and I HIGHLY recommend Chris and the entire Marble and Stone Life company.
Chris was prompt and efficient, both for the appointment for the estimate and for the work itself, which was excellently done. As part of the job, he agreed to drill out and replace 11 loose tiles (which is no easy task), and was then unbelievably patient the morning he and his helper arrived to do the work, and the extra tiles I had from installation 9 years earlier were the wrong size - 12" rather than 18"! He advised me which suppliers to contact and patiently did what work he could while waiting for my hours' long delay in getting the correct tiles to my home. As a result, the job was not done until 7 pm, rather than the 4 pm he had anticipated. Not only did he not charge me extra for the time - nor remind me that I was an idiot -  he polished my kitchen granite counters at no charge to fill the time. You don't get better customer service than that. Thanks, Chris!

The work was exactly as discussed during the estimate meeting. I was amazed at how great my travertine floor looks after the cleaning, patching, puffing and sealing. It looks better than when it was first installed. The team showed up on time, they taped off areas around the kitchen went right to work and finish about 3 hours later. They were neat, clean, and professional. I'm so please with the results I will keep this company in my phone book. Chris told me the new finish should last about 5 years so when I need the process done again I will definitely  call Chris at Marble & Stonelite.

I've had great luck with Angie's list.  I chose Chris Chai of Marble and Stone life to clean and seal mine and my parents granite kitchen counter.  He did not service the granite area.  When my father called to informed of this omission, he reluctantly made a date to return.  He never returned. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

"Almost impossible to please each and every customer. I have 25 more A review from other customers those who love our services. Never duscussed splash walls services. It was only horizontal surface of kitchen counter top clean & seal job. we are not a time wage worker, and I applied minimum charge for $200.00 for the service. Before this customer write unprofessional review, she need to speak to me to make adjustment. She was happy when we finished the job."

Chris did an amazing job with my floor. There were areas that were mottled, and messed up from years of build up of many products----I thought it was a hopeless cause. My floors look better than new!!! Chris is very easy to work with and did exactly what he said he would do. As wonderful as my floors turned out, the truly amazing part, for me, had nothing to do with my floors. There were a couple of mis-haps with the stuff that was used---it got on my counter and couch and I was very upset to say the least. Chris and his team came over on a Sunday no less and took care of everything----with good humor. He was sincerely sorry for what happened.
I feel it is unusual for many professional people to own mistakes, let alone take care of them in a prompt and good natured way.
More than anything, I appreciate Chris's personal integrity and I would highly recommend him.

Marble Stone Life is a very good company that I would recommend.
The work and knowledge of the worker who came to our house was amazing, he was professional, polite and very knowledge about what needed to be done. As a matter of fact, after seeing the place in person, he came  from his original estimate because he didn't want to charge us for services we didn't need. A Real class act.

Their website is a bit wonky and the communication with them was difficult at first, but once the appt was made, it was pretty smooth. So don't give up. Call them a few times.

I call them and make an appointment for a free quote. Chris came and was very specific and knowledgeable. He said he could restore at almost like-new condition the terrazzo in my kitchen, counters and floors. I have tiles on the floors which are not easy. He told me which spots will come off and which one were probably too deep to come off completely. Sure enough it was like he said. My kitchen looks better than ever (I bought my house with the kitchen already built in) and it is restore at 95% to say the least.
I would recommend this company to anyone who need marble, terrazzo, stone work. Call them for a quote and you will get truthfully what it can and can't be done.
Thank you Chris, and once more,  thank you Angie's list .

Great work. Chris came by, gave me an estimate, and told me he would be back to do the work a month later because he was busy. A month later, he showed up exactly on time, did everything he said he would, and the result is wonderful! This is one of the best experiences I've ever had with repairs/construction/maintenance. Chris is a true professional. And he was so punctual, which is rare in this business. Also, a competing bid I got for the same job was $300 higher than Chris's. Highly recommended. I will definitely rehire Chris, when it comes time to reseal the marble counter in our kitchen.

I can recommend Chris and his crew enough. If you want reliable, punctual, and great service, then go with them. Chris's quote was not the cheapest quote, yet he did exactly what was expected and finished a day earlier. He also provided pictures of his work. I am going to recommend him to all of my friends and family for their marble work,

I had a very long crack on the granite rail on the back of my sink.  Because the caulking on the sink from the contractor was very thin,
water entered the plywood underneath and began to swell.  The narrow piece of granite was weak from the holes drilled for the faucet, soap dispenser and hot water dispenser. A long crack developed and began to widen to about 3mm, but it was growing wider and higher.  I had multiple evaluations from granite repairmen/fabricators.  Almost all of them wanted to remove the entire granite countertop, replace it with a different piece of granite (which would not match) or told me to change to tile.  Chris came out and felt he could use epoxy to fill the crack.  He matched the background color exactly.  He checked the caulking to ensure that it was done well.  He sealed all my granite countertops as well.   I also need to mention that he came on a Sunday, because we could not find a mutually convenient time for a couple of weeks.
Chris was professional, timely, friendly, and very practical.  He clearly takes pride in his work and I was very happy with his work.

Excellent all-round performance.

Chris Chai has a most pleasant disposition, and it was a pleasure to have him work at our house.

He went at length to explain what he proposed to do and ensure he was understood.
His estimate was detailed stage-by-stage and reflected a very professional approach towards giving a prospective client a clear description of what needed to be done - no more and no less. For the work he did I consider his budget reasonable.
The work was done efficiently and he cleaned up as he went along, leaving the place spotless.
The completed work looks as new  - particularly the Shower floor slabs, which naturally had a lot of wear and tear over 15 years of daily use!
My wife and I highly recommend him for the type of work he did for us.

When I called Marble & Stonelife, Chris, the owner explained my issue was common due to water swelling the supporting wood because of old caulking not being water tight.  We set up a appointment for 3/21/13 between 8-9am.  Chris and his assistant arrived at 815 and started the job.  They used a stone epoxy for the granite repair, then removed the old caulking and reapplied new caulking around entire sink. They also applied a sealer on the granite.  The entire process took 45 minutes.  I thought the price was very fair, $275.  After receiving the invoice, they even re-caulked my island sink for no charge.
The repair was done beautifully.  Chris and his assistant were very professional, knowledgeable and courteous.  Will definitely use them for future projects!
