After a routine "tune-up" from another local company, I was told that my evaporator coil was leaking.  They recommended having someone come out to give me some options.  So their "Comfort Advisor" came out and did a very thorough inspection of my unit and duct work.  No surprise that the recommendation was to replace the unit for better efficiency.  I got that.  What I had a hard time with was the extremely high quote for replacement, including extensive duct work, new registers and return, and even new smoke & carbon detectors!
Looking into some different options, JC Melton came up as a possible alternative (they had installed my parents' units a few years ago).  Brad Melton came out to my house to do a free estimate and answer my many questions.  He was very helpful and confirmed my doubts about what the other company wanted to do.  After all was said and done, I went with JC Melton, saving me over $6,000!
Their guys came over nice and early.  They did their work and were very unobtrusive.  When it was found out that there were some holes in the previous duct work, they let me know the price before replacing it ($150).  Before they left, they ran the heating and air-conditioning to make sure all was working properly.  They showed me the new thermostat and the basics of how to operate.  They were very professional and polite, answering all of my questions with patience.
All and all it has been a very good experience working with JC Melton.  I would highly recommend them to others and plan on using them in the future for any work that might need to be done.

They did a really good job. They checked all the ducts and everything to make sure everything was sealed properly. If someone wanted to put in an A/C these guys would be a very good possibility for someone. They were also very personable, prompt, cleaned up, and excellent.

Called in JC Melton for a second opinion on a previous estimate.  Was able to set appointment for next day and arrived on time.  Showed them the previous estimate and immediately told I was being overcharged.  After checking the system they cleaned it and properly serviced it.  Then explained my entire system to me and how I did not need the $830 worth of work.  Added needed coolant and also told me about a coupon that was available to me in the phone book.  Saved me a ton of money and were over the top professional.  I have found my new AC company.

They do a great job. They're very punctual, prompt, and professional. They get everything up and running. They let me know what it's going to cost before they do the job. I would highly recommend them. Their prices are reasonable, and the quality of their work is very good.

He came out twice and didn't charge us anything.  He gave us three different options to do the repair with different costs.  I appreciated that they gave us options.  They knew what they were doing and did a great job.

Furnace in attic dripped.  After 3 visits they said I needed new furnace, old one was improperly installed.  They gave quote, deducted amount I paid for prior visits, installed new furnace & thermostat.  No problems since.

I think I found them on Angie's List and will use them again in the future.

When I determined my heating unit wasn't working I called two HVAC specialists.  J.C. Melton Air Conditioning was able to schedule me for an appointment within a couple of hours.  When Martin arrived I explained to him what was happening and he immediately got on the roof and open the HVAC system.  He had me initiate the heat setting from the control panel.  After listening to the exhaust motor come on Martin tapped on the Pressure Switch and the unit activated.  Within about another 20 minutes he had replaced the Pressure Switch, cleaned the unit, and placed it back in operation.  The speed in which J.C. Melton was able to respond and the immediate identification and correction of the problem meant that we didn't have to spend another night all bundled up in the house.  The cost may have been a little high, thus my "B" rating for cost, but the quick response was worth it.  That night it was warm and cozy in our house.  I would definitely us J.C. Melton Air Conditioning once again.

I liked everything about them. They were top-drawer all the way. I would rate them highly and would definitely use them again in the future.

The overall experience is excellent.

We bought the house 4 years ago and we couldn’t tell if the system was ever serviced.  Then the gentleman, who came serviced and cleaned the furnace.  We had some filters of unusual sizes, which had to be ordered and he ordered it for us.  My husband was very pleased with the problem solving and talking.  He did a very good job and made sure, we understood everything like the condensation drain and the outside drain.  The have senior discounts, too and showed us how to use things we had.  He also found that we didn’t have any issues other than a general service.  Since, we called them early they came, else they come seasonally.  They do not have service agreement, but we plan on getting a long time seasonal service and we are added to their calling list for this service.  I will continue to use them in future.

They did an outstanding job.  We spent about $4400 on that service.  Everybody in the company seemed to be very polite, interested in providing good service and in being helpful.  They sent out one technician first to check it out and he was thorough and explained what was wrong with the old unit.  He went back and talked to the boss and he sent me an e-mail about several choices of different units on it.  There were some recommendations and some other information that was pertaining to whole process, including possible rebates for energy efficiency, so that was very good.  They came out in a timely manner.  They were scheduled to come on Wednesday, but they had time available on Tuesday and we said it would be alright, so they started doing the job on Tuesday and it would have been the 15th.  They were here and were very thorough and they went down and checked the ducts under the house.  They did not do any air-duct cleaning this time and I think that was what we might have had them out to do in 2010.  They basically suggested that because the air blows all the stuff through ducts anyway and some people claim to be able to clean their air-ducts.  So that may not be really something necessary to do because of the efficiency of a system cleaner, so that was useful information.  They replaced the full furnace and A/c unit and checked the ducting for leaks and stuff.  They put in a good installation that seems to be sturdy and safe and it is functioning very well.  They provided a new thermostat for inside control along with the purchase and also the carbon monoxide warning counter, like an alarm.

I spent approximately $2000 on that service.  They were very good.  I know of them because I used to work for the government and we used a man in our laboratory that worked for them and we were always very pleased with their service and I have been too.  They were very professional.  The prices were probably not the cheapest.  They were very prompt and they did an excellent job in a short period of time.  They cleaned up after themselves and did all the testing on my vent system to make sure there were no leaks in the vent system.  They were very good and very thorough. 

They gave us a very good price.  I decided to go with them because of Angie's list.  We have been thinking about doing this for years.  We had two quotes at least maybe three prior and also too expensive.  I don't know it just that sort of an intuitive thing where we won't be comfortable and JC Melton were wonderful.  I don't think it is a very big company, and I think we had two family members that are owners of the company and came out different times.  They really thought about out of place and really talked us through it.  The people that they had working on it were competent and professional, which is a really good experience.  I would highly recommend them.  All of it was a very positive experience.  We had some challenges because our house is 40 years old.  We had the original equipment stored.  We had wiring issues that they dealt with.  They were very clear on how they approached it.  It was something where they could have thrown up their hands and said that they have to charge extra $1000 for this; but instead they just carefully talked it through and figured out where the wiring was not good anymore.  They just replaced that part, and I don't think so they charged us any extra in the end.  They were very smart in how they did it.  The only kind of wondering we have about the whole situation is something that has nothing to do with them; it is more efficient air conditioner to keep the place as cool as the old one that was causing us $500 a month.  It is possible that we got carrier air conditioner, which are supposed to be pretty good; but maybe they are not outstanding, and possible that one we had before was just better quality brand, I really don't know.  It seems like the house was cooler before the new system, and that is something we haven't followed up with them yet.  We sort of waiting if this is really the case or it is our imagination.  They sealed up all the ducts, and they did everything that they were supposed to do.  It was a pleasure working with them.

The PM service and information went very well.   I would have this company back again and recommend to others.   My only wish is that something could have been done to quiet down my one, extremely loud energy efficient unit.   I trust that Martin would have made an adjustment if there was some way to silence the unit and appreciate the time he took to discuss the issue with me.

Overall the experience went very well.  The two guys doing the work were professional and very hard working.  The original person who came over to the home for an estimate was the Vice President, Curt Melton.  I was very happy with the work done.  It was a very simple job, but I was most impressed with the honestly and fairness in their price they charged me.  They charged me $485 and Donald Dick gave me an estimate for $1710.

This is the second time I used JC Melton. The first time was for service to my furnace, this time it was for my AC. I scheduled a general cleaning/tune up service for my furnace in November 2010. I had some problems with the unit shutting off prematurely. I figured I'd start with a general cleaning and see from there. The technician took his time with the unit, and when I mentioned the problem I was having, he increased the blower speed and double-checked the thermostat I installed for no extra charge. The system worked great after he left. The recent call was because my AC wasn't working at all. I recently bought the house, and the unit has never worked, so I had no idea what might be wrong. When I called to schedule a repair, the receptionist said she would put me down for a basic cleaning/tuneup because it would be the same price. The technician found the problem right away - a disconnected thermostat wire. He reconnected it then took quite some time to clean out the whole unit and service it properly. He even killed a few black widows and showed me how to clean the unit myself. Again, I was only charged for the basic service. In both cases, the technicians could have charged me for larger repairs or could have rushed through their work once the problem was found. I was very impressed with the level of detail and fairness each one exhibited. Both arrived on time and were very professional. They provide a detailed checklist of the work they did for general servicing as well.
