J C Melton

We needed to replace our old HVAC system and we called two companies for bids. 
The bid from JC Melton was $3000 less than the other bid for the exact same Carrier model.  JC Melton had a pricing sheet that clearly showed the cost for each option.  The other company hand wrote the cost on the quote.  It wasn't a hard decision to go with JC Melton based on the cost and the positive reviews on Angies List.  The cost was so reasonable that we decided to have our aging water heater replaced as well.
JC Melton showed up on time on installation day and were extremely professional.  All work performed exceeded our expectations and the new HVAC and water heater are working wonderfully.

Initial consultation/work estimate went very well. Very professional explanation of what was included in the work to be done and why. I had work estimates done be three contractors. This contractor was the best by far. Cost was in the mid-range but working with this contractor was by far worth it. Equipment installed is performing as good or better than I expected.

Made sure there were no gas leaks from any of the connections. Did an excellent clean up after completion. My heater instantly started working again.

Replaced drip pan, modified condensate line and repaired ducting.

We are renovating an older house that had original refrigerator sized air conditioner and heating units in center of house. Melton took out old units, installed two HVAC units on roof, installed tankless water heater, and installed ducting for cooktop vent. They did a great job. However, it unfortunately rained during the installation and the roof was not completely protected, resulting in a significant leak that damaged a wall and carpeting. Despite this problem, we would recommend Melton.

They gave an appointment at a convenient time for me, called ahead so I could put the dogs in the back yard, arrived on time, and serviced the heater. The technician also advised me that I should move my carbon monoxide detector into the hallway because it would be more efficient if there were more air flow around it. I had them replace an air conditioning unit last year and they stayed past their normal quitting time so the work was finished that day. They give you great service and go out of their way to make everything right. I've used J C Melton for 17 years.

I got two estimates. Fortunately, JC Melton's was the first. I was told how great it was to have metal ducting under the house as it was an excellent deterrent to rodents chewing their way into a warm space. The second estimator wanted to remove the metal ducting and replace it with what I'll call "accordian mylar," which I thought was a big mistake in view of Melton's advice.
I was having a new roof put on at the same time, and JC Melton cooperated fully with that team in doing what they needed to do on the roof with the condenser.
The Melton team was fast, thorough, and informative. They worked dilligently in blazing hot weather--even spent a lot of time under the house fixing the places where insulation had been stripped from the ducts. A couple of days after they had finished, we found a vent that wasn't producing air (all of us had missed it when we toured all the indoor vents that needed to be cleaned and insulated). They came out right away and fixed it without additional cost.
Beyond being very satisfied with their work, I enjoyed working with this team. I'd recommend JC Melton to anyone who asked.

Excellent service.

They were really good.  Its $85 for the service call and then whatever needs to be done is just added to it.  They told me what the cost was going to be before they could do any actual work.  The technician was very helpful and professional.  I think their pricing was reasonable.  It’s about the same as the others.  I think my air conditioner is working fine.

Their representative at JC Melton Air Conditioning who came to the home and gave us the estimate was good. They did a good job. It was mainly the price, because we were looking at the same equipment for all of the estimates that we were given. They seemed to do a very fine job and we were extremely pleased with the equipment, but like I said, we were looking at the same equipment on all of them. Their price was the deciding factor. They did a good job and then they did it until it was all done. When they came in, they didn't have those little booties on like some of the places do. I would absolutely use them in the future and recommend them.

Went well, polite and answered questions

Initially had them out to evaluate the problem which I had been dealing with for 10 years and had another company check twice. The other company told me there was nothing wrong but 2 rooms in my hom enever cooled off and others were cold. Jim from JC Melton thoroughly checked my system and advised on options. They came out and installed dampers in 2 of the larger ducts to reduce the flow in the cool rooms and increased the flow in the too warm rooms which greatly helped! I was very happy with the result, the cost and the way I was treated.

Great service. Fixed exactly what needed fixing and cleaned up really well afterward. Kind and professional service.

About six weeks after having my heating unit serviced by JC Melton a neighbor noticed smoke coming from a vent in my roof.  The fire department responded but could not find the source of the smoke or any signs of flame or smoldering.  Because the affected vent was right above the heater, they insisted on shutting the heater off  until it was thoroughly checked out.  I immediately contacted JC Melton and they arrived within 30 minutes.  They thoroughly rechecked the heater, climbed onto the roof to examine the vent, and didn't leave until all signs of smoke disappeared.  Ultimately no one could determine what caused the smoke.  If this were to happen again, I definitely would contact JC Melton for assistance.

The work was done quickly, and with no surprises.

After an annual inspection JC Melton found a crack in the heat exchanger of our old 25 year old unit that could not be repaired. Since I trust JC Melton (they have earned my trust from years of service) I agreed to have my system replaced. They recommended a great unit and after it was installed they check over the system and our old duct work. JC Melton found some huge leaks in the duct work and in the adapter under the old unit. It appears that when we had our roof re-shingled the roofer did not set the A/CHeater back in place correctly leaving a big leak. Also they found were a contractor left a huge hole in the ducting after a remodel 20 year ago. Now after this new unit is installed and our duct work is sealed I should save more than 30% (more like 50%) in energy savings.... I highly Recommend JC Melton Air Conditioning!

Overall experience was great. Prompt, courteous, and fixed what needed to be fixed without trying to rack up a more costly bill.
