Everything started off well. I saw a dining room set online originally so I went into the store to see it in person. Spoke to a helpful sales rep/designer about my situation and needing to furnish a new home I just purchased. She called me a week or so later, after moving into the home, to come out and measure the space. My husband and I went into the store a couple days later to see the floorplan and furniture options she had put together for us. Unfortunately she had other customers at the same time so we were handed off to someone else to finalize everything. Lesson 1: Get it in writing! Originally we were given a printed quote stating we would receive 25% off the entire order; when it was time to pay we were told it was 25% off one item. Oh h*** no! We fought it and received original quote price. Lesson 2: Don't believe their sales ploys. We were also told prices would be going up in 2013 (we were purchasing in Dec of 2012), so we felt pressured to buy before the sale ended, the price went up and sales tax went up. The only one of those 3 things that happened was sales tax going up. Lesson 3: Inspect furniture delivery before they bring it into your home Delivery guys were very nice and let me put felt feet on the furniture pieces as they were brought in as to not scratch our new wood floors. I was working from home at the same time and very busy so I was unable to closely inspect every inch when the furniture came in my door. A couple hours later when I was able to take a break I grabbed a dust cloth and started cleaning the furniture. Noticed damage that appeared they attempted to repair previously on the exterior bottom of my sideboard. I immediately called Bassett to tell them. My sales lady was out so I spoke to their CS Rep. She said to email her photos of the damage and she would contact a mystery lady in Irvine who handles claims. I took photos immediately and emailed them off. I continued my inspection of the pieces. I opened one of the doors to the sideboard and found nails sticking out from the bottom where the bottom joins the side piece. I then opened the other door and discovered a giant piece of fabric rope that some how got built into the piece. How the #@%@% does that happen?!?! I then inspected the dining room table. Found gashes in it and nicks in a few of the chairs. I took more photos and emailed them to Bassett. When my husband got home he was furious as well and looked at the furniture himself and he found a pedestal leg was cracked! More photos were taken and emailed. My husband then called Bassett to complain himself and was told they would "repair the items to their standards" or replace them. How about my standards?! We paid a lot of money for what was suppose to be high quality solid wood construction and what we got was beat up floor samples and pieces that failed quality control (if they have such a thing). And I don't buy their claim that everything is made to order. This fiasco started Wednesday. I called Thursday to find out what was going on and was told my sales person was out and the mystery lady in Irvine must be out too. Today is Friday with have no resolution in my case and have told my credit card company to not pay the bill.
Description of Work: Purchased dining room table, 6 chairs, and sideboard. Also looked at furniture for other rooms to purchase at a later date.
