WASTE MANAGEMENT OF SAN DIEGO

EXACTLY AS SCHEDULED

We were ripping out toilets, tubs and pieces of flooring. We did a complete makeover on the house and a lot went into the dumpster. I had no problems with them picking up the trash. When my husband called them they came out. Their job was pretty straight forward and it was all good. There was so much going on and the dumpster got smaller.

I purchased a and quot;Bagsterand quot; debris bag at Lowe's. It seemed a good idea as I live in a gated community that does not allow dumpsters to be left on the property for more than 48 hours, and Waste Management/Bagster promised to pick up within a 3-day window. I scheduled the window ON THEIR WEBSITE for a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday. At the END of the day on Friday I received a call telling me that the debris bag would not be picked up until Tuesday.
I was offered a 20% discount by the customer service representative I talked with on Friday.
I suggest that you go to your nearest home improvement store and hire any of the casual laborers with a truck who hauls away debris before you use Waste Management. OR, use any other company besides Waste Management.
The fact that Waste Management failed to perform to their own standards, or performed to very bad standards, does not allow comment on professionalism or price: they did not perform, so price doesn't matter. The executive management at Waste Management is clearly responsible, and clearly out of control.

First, on Angie's list, it was hard to know what to do about filling in the bubble on and quot;would you use this provider in the future,and quot; because they are the contracted garbage collection company for my area, soooo I filled in that I wouldn't use this provider in the future but it seems I have no other option.

I haven't lived here long but so far this provider has been the worst I have dealt with since I have needed garbage collection when i bought my first house in the 1980's.

All I needed was a little extra garbage picked up. We gave them plenty of notice, sorted out the cost that they would bill us and then.......they didn't pick it up but left the garbage there on the street. Well, it was a mistake and surely they would remedy it. We called and they said they missed it somehow but would pick it up by 6 pm the next day. Ok, fair enough. At 7 pm the next day it was still there on the street. We called and they said it would be picked up by noon, saying it as though they had told us it would be by 6 pm OR noon the next day in the first place. They said if it isn't gone by noon, call at 12:01. Noon came and went and the garbage remained on the street. We called and they said they would call the driver, and so it was taken care of.....NOT. At 4:30 we called because it was still there. They said for us to take the garbage into the garage (yes into the garage?), and they would pick it up by 6 pm the next day; seriously?

They - the folks in the office - are sweet, thoughtful and kind in their interaction but seem completely and utterly clueless (most likely untrained). When something is this bad, I wonder about the management. With such widespread issues, I do not think the guys on the ground (in the office or in the trucks) are to blame.

One could say it is so bad because we have no choice with whom to do business ( and the company knows it), but I have lived in several cities over the years where the waste management service had essentially a monopoly but never have I dealt with such an incredibly disorganized organization.

I can only hope that upper management has some kid reading reviews to see how they are doing.

***UPDATE: It is only fair that after my review above, I give accolades to the person who seems to have ultimately dealt with my problem. After I spoke with someone in the office named Jordon, everything was dealt with and my garbage (both the bags and what was in the can) was picked up early Friday morning and he waived my $10 fee for the inconvenience! So I upgraded the grades including their overall grade to fair. Maybe we just had a rough start, and as I said at least EVERYONE was pleasant at all times.

It turned out good.

Waste Management of San Diego is the only waste management company in our area, so we don't really have a choice, but they're good. They've never missed a pick up. Their prices are reasonable. When our gardener comes and we have lots of bags of stuff, they take it. They usually don't leave anything behind. They come when they're supposed to and the trash is gone. We're happy. They have recycling, as well.

We have had them for a long time. At one time we were going to switch, their price was too high and by the time we checked everybody else around and everybody else was friendly and nice, but they did not have the contract that we had with Waste Management Of San Diego. We have a three yard den and we live out in the country so they always come out in this area on a Tuesday so I just call them when it is full so they come and twitch it out. They take the full one and bring the new one. When I first started using them 10 years ago we had a problem with them coming out when they were supposed to , they would stage their coming out. In the last 8 years they have been so very prompt and if they can't come out they will tell you, and they would come the next day. They are very good about locking our gate because I have live stock and dogs. They have really been doing a great job. They are always very friendly when you are on the phone with them and we can always get a hold of them if we need to make some special arrangements. They are very good about locking our gate which is important to me since we don't have to go get our sheep and the dogs out of the road.

Nothing was done but they keep my money and I will have to go to court to get back my money which they got for not delivered the 3 yard trash bin. I will most likely not take them to court because it will cost me more time and money to get back $108.00 dollars for something they never did. As a home owner and Contractor I NEVER USE this company and any one who want to get good service should stay away from Waste Management of San Diego.

I rented a dumpster from Waste Management at my home. The arrangement is that we pay a monthly fee and they exchange the full dumpster for a empty one one time per week. I leave my gate open and lock up my dogs on the day they are suppose to pick up the trash. The service was OK for about 6 months. Occasionally they would miss a pick up put generally the arrangement worked as agreed. However, for at least the past 6 months, they NEVER come to exchange the dumpster on the agreed upon day. I call every week after I am sure that my dumpster has not been exchanged. Every month the nice person answering the phone tells me they will have my trash picked up. No one picks it up. The phone person says they will have the dispatcher call me. No one calls. This happens every week for the past 6 months. If I did not call, they would not pick up my trash. After I call several times, finally the dumpster is exchanged for a empty one one or two days later. Every week. I am embarrassed I just did not cancel the service and hire another company when they first started skipping my dumpster every week, but I kept hoping it would go back to the way it was 6 months before. I know that a residential dumpster is a small account for a big company like waste management. If you are considering renting a dumpster for your home, I do NOT recommend Waste Management.

They picked up the low-boy and took it to the landfill where it was classified as "refuse." They then sent me a bill for double the agreed upon price and refused to acknowledge that they could have made a mistake. I asked repeatedly what exact contents of this load of dirt caused this to be classified as "refuse," but they could not answer. All they had was this one word on the landfill manifest, and refused to believe my assertions that there was nothing but dirt in that dumpster. After dozens of calls and letters, they left me with no option but to pay the bill for their error. I will never use this horrible company again.

Waste Management picks up trash in my Santee area. There are children in my neighborhood, married couples, and single home owners. From the first Thursday Waste Management driver came into the area, he stops in front of my house; gets out of the truck and urinates on the road in front of my master bedroom window. I peak intermediate Spanish, and told him not to do it the second time I saw him. So, the next week he pulled his truck down the road a little way, and he would get out, and urinate on our road again. This went on for well over 2 months before he made actually started exposing himself. Twice I yelled at him to quit doing it without any response. I told him there is a Mexican Restaurant 'less' than half a block from our house where he can easily relieve himself. Finally I called ''Leo'' and ask that his driver stop. This morning 'the owner' dropped by to pick up his trash cans. I told him about it he laughed at me. I think this company's behavior is atrocious

WASTE MANAGEMENT DID JUST WHAT I ASKED THEM TO DO. AS FAR AS THE LOCATION. AND THEY DROPPED IT OFF ON TIME AND PICKED IT UP 7 DAYS LATER LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THE GIRLS IN THE OFFICE WERE FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL ON WHAT SIZE BIN I NEEDED.

THEY NEVER MISS COMING ON MONDAYS. THE BROKEN RECEPTACLE WAS REPLACED WITHIN 2 DAYS. THEY ALWAYS RESPOND QUICKLY TO ANY PROBLEMS WE HAVE.

SERVICE IS ALWAYS EFFICIENT AND DONE IN A FAIRLY TIMELY MANNER. DRIVERS COULD BE BETTER WITH THEIR CONCERN OF THE RECEPTACLES. I DO LIKE THE CONVENIENCE OF THE PICK UP SERVICE.

CHARGED APPROX. $40 ON A BI-MONTHLY BASIS. NO TRASH CANS ARE PROVIDED. YOUR AVERAGE TRASH PICKUP COMPANY. THEY ARE ON TIME AND ALWAYS PICK UP EVERYTHING I LEAVE OUT BY THE CURB. THEY TEND TO BE ROUGH ON TRASH CANS.

SATISFIED WITH WEEKLY SERVICE. CAN CALL AND COMPANY WILL PICK UP LARGE TRASH ITEMS UPON REQUEST.

OFTEN MESSY. NOT ALWAYS ON TIME. ALWAYS KNOCK TRASH CANS OVER. DON'T PICK UP TRASH CANS. SEEM VERY LAZY.

THEY ARE ALWAYS ON TIME AND CLEAN. THEY NEVER LEAVE ANY TRASH ON THE GROUND THAT MAY HAVE FALLEN OUT WHEN THEY DUMPED IT IN THE TRUCK. THE CANS ARE STACKED NEAT. RESPONSE TIME IS FAST WHEN EXTRA SERVICE IS REQUIRED.

THEY ARE ALWAYS HERE ON TIME. THEY DO A GOOD JOB AND DON'T LEAVE A MESS. THEY USUALLY PICK UP EVERYTHING.

THEY COME EVERY WEEK EXCEPT FOR THE FEW HOLIDAYS THEY TAKE. EVEN WHEN THERE IS A HOLIDAY, THEY COME THE NEXT DAY TO REMOVE THE TRASH. THE DO GOOD WORK AND PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE.

THIS COMPANY HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS, THEY ARE WELL ESTABLISHED. THEY ARE COMPETITIVE IN PRICE AS WELL.

I USE THIS COMPANY FOR MY WEEKLY TRASH PICK UP, BUT WE ALSO USED THEM WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR HOME AND DID A MAJOR RENOVATION OF OUR HOME, THEY OFFER MANY SERVICES AND WERE VERY HELPFUL.

ALTHOUGH THE DRIVERS THAT HANDLE MY AREA ARE IMPATIENT AND RUDE, THEY ARE TIMELY AND EFFICIENT AS ONE COULD EXPECT FOR THIS TYPE OF SERVICE.

THEY ALWAYS ARRIVE AROUND THE SAME TIME, VERY PUNCTUAL, VERY NEAT, AND CANS ARE ALWAYS UPRIGHT.
