Mauzy Heating, Air & Solar

Mauzy arrived on time, worked quickly, and cleaned up after themselves.  They did a great job, and the system runs more smoothly now.

Since I had never done this before I did not realize when I booked the visit how unusual it is for a company to charge a fee to come in and give an estimate on a new heat pump, both inside and outside units.  Yes, their man arrived on time, and gave me a middle of the road quote. However, being told that for a simple 20 minute quote I needed to spend nearly $100 is tough to swallow, even if this does count as a credit if you do ultimately buy from them. After being nickel and dimed in this way I will never use this company.  I have had two other quotes come in, one higher and one lower, one from a large company and one from a smaller company.  Neither charged me.  If you are shopping for a new system do yourself a favor and get smart that you can get quotes for free from a company who will do good work and honorably give you a quote.  After all you will be spending $5,000 or more on a replacement for your heating and ac and if they want your business (knowing they may make as much as a 100% markup or more on the system)  they will woo you as a customer instead charging you just for showing up when the other guys don't.

The real kicker is that Mauzy told Angie's List that I had had work done by them (which must be this estimate since I've not dealt with them before or since) so Angie's List phoned me and asked for my opinion of the company.  While I understand that Mauzy is simply trying to run a good business, I could not be more turned off by the fee - however I would have kept my opinion to myself had Angie's List not called and asked me for my two cents. Bravo Angie's List for getting truth out there - both comfortable and uncomfortable for the companies involved.

It was excellent.

I called to schedule an appointment after looking at the phone book references all being glorious.  The phone receptionist said "Oh, Descanso, that will be $120.00 for a visit."  I said I could buy three tanks of gas for that. I checked the mileage from my house to the company which is 33 mile one way trip.  This seemed excessive.  I don't mind paying for the cost of the trip but making money on travel does not seem right.

Everything was smooth from beginning to end. 

Repair took about 3 minutes. to replace "starter cap":  the tech removed 3 screws and cover plate, pulled 3" push on" wire connectors,pushed connectors back on new capacitor, put cover plate and same 3 screws back on. all work was done outside at the compressor sight- no crawl in attic was required. No voltmeter  measurements were made. Less that 60 seconds diagnostic time! He had a new starter cap in his tool box, he did not even have to walk back out to his truck.

Then handed me a bill for --$252.00  --!!!!!

It was a very hot day and he had me over a barrel, so I paid the price
I checked  and the retail price of the part replaced was $6.87.
I feel that for 3 minutes work and a $6.87 replacement part  $252.00 is not fair business practice.

They are very reliable and dependable.  We have continued to use them for many years.

The job was well done. They encountered problems in the 25 year old duct system but were still able to complete the job in 2 days. They gave great service and were very respectful of the house. They explained how to work the system in detail. The job ran late on the second day, yet they still took the time to clean everything up completely. Our upgraded system is working great and for the first time in 25 years, the second story of the house cools down.

The man that came out was a very nice guy and explained some things so that I would understand. I just felt the estimate was high because it was $700 higher than another I had received.

The interview and interaction with the representative went very well. His package of information was the best that I recieved.

I found Brian (owner) to be punctual and very informative with regard to the type of system that would be appropriate. He felt that for our house and location (near the coast) a central A/C unit would work the best and be the most cost effective. The newest units have high efficiency and have reasonable operating cost. He proposed a Rheem system because of their reliability and match to our newer Rheem high-efficiency furnace. I felt that the estimate was fair and when we decide to go ahead with a system I plan to use Mauzy.

Mauzy was very prompt for both appointments, the estimate and the actual installation. When Matt Mauzy came to look at our set up, he spent a lot of time going over features of air conditioning systems, explaining efficiency ratings, etc. After we decided to go with them, they came out the next week and installed everything the same day. They cleaned up everything so well that we could hardly tell they had been here (expect we had an air conditioning unit on the side of the garage). They found a problem with our venting system and put in a new vent to correct the problem at no additional cost. They were very professional. The main reason we decided to choose them was that their price was $800 less for the exact same system than the other bid we got. Also we had used them last year for to correct a heating duct problem and had been happy with their service then.

Work went very well. Were punctual coming out to give an estimate and work done within timeframe. No problems encountered.

Joe and Sergio were very polite and considerate of my sleeping baby while they were working. They explained the installation well and cleaned up well afterwards. Also, all of my phone calls leading up to the installation were returned promptly.

It took over two weeks to get an appointment. When the technician arrived to do repairs he could not articulate his overall strategy for his suggested course of action, and at a cost of $600, wouldn't guarantee that it would be effective. The tipping point for me came when he excused himself to go back to his vehicle to prepare an invoice for the consultation (cost $75). This took a while so I closed my front door, returned indoors, and went back to my business. Fifteen minutes later, the tech is at my bedroom door asking me to sign the invoice. I asked him how he got in, and said he let himself in.

Came quick, were very nice, and did a good job.

Very good experience. Their intake phone staff was very friendly; their response time was quick (just a couple of days), and the technician was knowledgeable and efficient. He checked the filter and installed one we had on hand at no extra charge. We will definitely call them again for maintenance and repairs.

WE HAD A DIFFICULT JOB AND THEY WERE EXCELLENT.

MATT MAUZY WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ARTICULATE. WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO INSTALL A/C IN OUR HOME BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL AND SPACE LIMITATIONS, BUT HE SOLVED THESE PROBLEMS EASILY. HE DIDNT TRY TO SELL US ANYTHING WE DIDNT NEED. BEST OF ALL, HE SAID THAT THE WORK WOULD BE DONE IN 1 DAY, AND IT WAS. FROM THE PERSON ANSWERING THE PHONE TO THE INSTALLERS, EVERYONE WAS PROFESSIONAL AND EFFICIENT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

A-AABCO AIR CONDITIONING & HTG CAME IN AND WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN CLEANING MY A/C. THEY WERE VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO KEEP IT CLEAN.

THIS COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, THEY CAME AND LOOKED AT OUR OLD UNIT GAVE US SEVERAL ALTERNATIVES TO THE WORK THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. WE WERE VERY HAPPY THE THE WORK AND HOW QUICKLY THEY COMPLETED IT.

THEY SPENT A LOT OF TIME WHILE WORK WAS GOING ON TO MAKE SURE WE WERE HAPPY. THEY HAVE RESPONDED PROMTLY TO PHONE CALLS. THE JOB THEY DID ON A VERY OLD HOUSE WITH LOTS OF PROBLEMS WAS GREAT.

THEY WERE VERY COMPETITIVE IN PRICE AND VERY KNOWLEDGABLE. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND TOOK THE TIME TO CHECK OUT THE ATTIC AND SEE WHAT WAS THE BEST WAY TO HOOK THINGS UP. THEY SERVICED OUR HEATER SO THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD WORK EFFECIENTLY.

THIS COMPANY WAS A LIFE SAVER, WE HAD A LOT OF SOOT IN OUR VENTS AND THEY WERE SO WONDERFUL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
