very professionally done. the cost was 230 bucks for the first 2 hours. it took them 1.5 hours to find it without cutting through any walls. and 20 mins to cut open the wall and confirm the leak.

From start to finish, CPL was very professional.  The person setting the appointment was very friendly and helpful.  Jose was the technician from CPL and he arrived on time for the appointment.  He was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative about the process.  He was able to identify the leak in about an hour using his specialized equipment.  I would use CPL them again.

Steven arrived on time and was very professional.  He located the leak in the water pipe in under an hour
on the main line in the front yard near the meter and determined the problem was a tree root pressing down on the pipe.  They were recommended to us by Jose of Patterson Plumbing, and other plumbers we spoke to were familiar with this company.  The price seems a little steep but they found the leak source right away, were on time and customer service was very responsive. I would use them again.

The company was very professional.  We got an appointment the same day that we called.  About 10 minutes before the plumber was to arrive the company telephoned us to tell us he was on his way.  Steven did a very thorough check of all of our pipes and throughout our one acre lot and detected a leak in the toilet tank in the garage. He was quick and efficient -- and super nice.  We hope to not have any more leaks, but if we do, we are calling CPL. We recommended them most highly.

Good.  They did exactly what they told me they will do and charge me exactly what my fee it would be.  He was very nice, good and right on time.  He went out of his way to find what we wanted.  I didn’t really check the other prices but he just found the water leak and then I just went from there to choose a plumber.  I really don’t know whether it was the best price.  Yes I would recommend them.

Our provider was prompt, curtious, and thorough.   Using special equipment, he fairly quick determined that we have a leak in a toilet that was hard to detect without using the tools that he had at hand.  However, just to be on the safe side he checked slabs, walls, inside and outside and three toilets.  One of them is in fact the culprite.  We are having it replaced and hope for lower water usage.

Over the last couple of months, I received astronomical water bills. After contacting the city to find out why my bills were suddenly so high and getting no help from them, I went to Angies List to find a professional who could help. I found CPL Cable, Pipe & Leak Detection, Inc. I checked their website and made sure they had the required licenses. The promises they made on their website were impressive. I did worry that they only had two reviews after being in business for thirty years. They sent a technician within hours of my original phone call. They claimed the following - "No leak is too small or too large for us to handle. Even those hard to find leaks, the ones where no visible water shows anywhere, we have the capability, knowledge and expertise to locate the source..." When the technician arrived, he spent about an hour checking my property. He found nothing except some manual irrigation valves in my backyard that he turned on and saw many leaks. I informed him that number one, those valves have been turned off and left off for at least fourteen years. Being MANUAL valves, they won't leak unless you turn them on. I went on to say that if they were the problem, I would have had enormous water bills for all those years. That was all he found. When he left, I was not left with an invoice. The next day, I went outside myself and went to an irrigation valve that is in use because it is attached to a timer. I lifted the lid off the valve and immediately found the problem. The selenoid was leaking. That leak was leaking twenty four hours a day. I walked about twenty more feet and found another leak. I called my landscaper and scolded him for not finding these leaks and told him to come immediately and make these repairs because we are expecting a heat wave and my lawns need water. I then called CPL and told them that their technician should have found these leaks right away. In my frustration, after CPL's tech found nothing but inactive manual valves, I went outside with my walker - something I rarely do because I walk with a walker and am afraid of falling on the uneven terrain. I found the problems right away - ten feet from my back door. I made several phone calls and the same tech came out and I showed him the leaks that I found. He admitted that he should have found them. The second leak I found was also quite evident because the grass around it was very dark green and the rest of my lawn is very light green. When I was finally able to reach the office manager, I told her that the company completely failed to do what I hired them to do. I found two leaks - one very large leak - that their tech should have found immediately. I paid them $270. Also, I did not get the Angies List discount coupon, a thirty dollar value. They took the money and ran. I have pictures and witnesses and will seek a legal remedy. I should have checked the Better Business Bureau first because I am not the only one taking them to court. I am also going to file a complaint with the BBB.

-This is an update of my review on 6/30/2013. Over the course of a couple of weeks and several conversations with the service manager, I was able to get a partial refund. The cost of their service was $270.00. They refunded $170.00, although, I did not get the $30 discount from a coupon for Angie's List members. I had to explain to them that I found the leaks myself the next day and it was only fair that I get a refund. I was willing to pay a minimal fee because they did not find anything - I did. I have learned that aside from checking for the proper licenses, there can never be a guaranty from anybody that you will get what you pay for. I thought I was safe getting a company from Angie's List. At least the matter was resolved so that I did not have to go through the timely and expensive court system(small claims court).

They found where the leak was and they were very good priced. They came out when they said they were going to come out. They figured it out within the two hours. They didn't dilly-dally to get the additional $200 for the third hour so it was nice. I thought they were pretty reputable.

I recently had a leak from my 2nd floor master bathroom shower to my 1st floor dining room. Although the contractor who had installed the shower had inspected it and given me his opinion as to what was causing the leak, I opted to hire a professional "detective" service to provide an accurate and unbiased assessment of the cause of the problem. My call was returned promptly, and I was able to obtain an appointment within several days even though it was a holiday weekend. The technician (Mike) arrived on time and listened patiently as I gave a detailed history of the remodeling of the shower, the timing of the leak, the other contractor's diagnosis and planned repair, etc. Mike then proceeded to spend the next few hours investigating the source of the leak. He had initially thought it was due to an incorrectly installed showerhead; however, after further discussion with me and more investigation, he determined (much to my relief!) that my tile contractor was in fact correct about the source of the leak. I was incredibly relieved, as: (a.) it validated that my tile contractor was indeed the honest, decent guy I thought he was; (b.) the repairs would be much less extensive and invasive in nature than if the leak had been caused by some other problem. All in all, I was extremely pleased with Mike's service and would recommend CP&L to anyone who (unfortunately) needs this type of work performed!

We had a suspected slab leak at our house.  I contacted Black Mountain Plumbing after reading their rave reviews on Angie's List, which are all entirely true reports of the great customer service they provide!  Scott, the owner of Black Mountain, referred me  to CPL since we were uncertain of the source of our leak and Scott kindly wanted to save me money by not scheduling a plumbing appointment  until we knew exactly what we were dealing with here.  Jose from CPL (Cable, Pipe and Leak Detection) came out within a couple of hours of Scott's call; he was very courteous and professional.  Jose conducted a thorough inspection of our problem areas, and was able to find the leak (luckily not in the slab!) very quickly.  Jose was very patient in explaining things to me, and really helped me to understand the problems here and what was important to have corrected.  He found a problem with our water pressure that had previously gone undetected, and which could have proven disastrous in the future--and this was on top of the work he was hired to do!   Jose prepared an excellent report of his findings, and offered to explain them to my husband over the phone.  After Jose left, I called Black Mountain Plumbing to schedule the repairs.  I learned that Jose had very kindly
already spoken to one of the plumbers there, and he had a thorough understanding of the situation and will be out tomorrow to make the repairs.  I wish every worker who came to our house was as courteous, kind and knowledgeable as Jose, and we would use CPL again in a heartbeat when needed.  Thank you so much!!!

He was professional. They were more expensive than when I looked them up on Angies list. They charge by the hour and there is a minimum of two hours. They charge two hundred dollars every hour after that. The plumber seemed efficient, he was on time and brought all of his tools. He didn't even find the leak, he only gave us a general area on where it was. It was way too much money and not enough information.

I do think that they were a bit expensive however they did do a great job of finding the problem. There was a little misunderstanding about the time to show up but that was between my wife and his dispatching office. Everything turned out alright at the end.

They are very expensive, but they are effective at what they do which is why we have no problems with them at all. They are accurate and end up saving you money in the long run for this type of work. I would recommend them to other people and I am pleased with the service.

THE TECHNICIAN CAME QUICKLY, WAS SOCIAL, PLEASANT AND VERY CAPABLE. THE TOOLS HE USED WERE VARIED AND SUCCESSFULLY LOCATED THE PROBLEM PIPE. THIS COMPANY CHARGES A FLAT $220.00 FEE PER PIPE ALLOWING UP TO 2 HOURS TO LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK, WITH CHARGES ADDED BEYOND 2 HOURS. IN EACH INSTANCE USING THIS COMPANY THE LEAK WAS FOUND IN UNDER 30 MINUTES. WE HAD A SECOND AREA WE REQUESTED TO BE CHECKED WHILE HE WAS HERE BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED ANOTHER $220.00, OUCH. ONE MUST ALSO REMEMBER THEY DETECT ONLY, THEY DO NOT DO ANY REPAIRS.

CPL USED AN ELECTRONIC TEST TO LOCATE THE WATER LEAK. THEY COULD NOT FIND IT THE FIRST TIME, SO THEY CAME BACK AT NIGHT (LESS GROUND NOISE) TO TEST AGAIN FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE AND FOUND THE EXACT LOCATION.

THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE SERVICE. THE TECH FOUND THE EXACT SPOT WHERE THE LEAK WAS. I EXPECTED THERE TO BE A MARGIN OF ERROR, BUT HE WAS WITHIN 6 INCHES OF THE SPOT. INCREDIBLE!
