"I apologize with the misunderstanding that is not the way we run our business. I did send a detailed bill. I also sent one to your tenant. I did not ask you to pay first. When Derek was finished with the job I called you to ask for your address and you told me that Derek was not at your house. A week later you called me and said he was at your house and gave me your address. After that I did not get a phone call from you or an email. Derek did talk to your tenant and said you should pay and he wants to be left out of this situation. He is the one who hired Derek. We have the contract from the fence company showing where you signed. It also states with an arrow that you were suppose to mark the pipes. Derek did talk to the company and they told him that they were not going to reimburse you any money for the broken pipe. . Derek has a lot of customers. They are all very happy with him. He gives great service."
I initially thought about trying to do what I needed done myself but decided it was a bit much for me, and I'm very glad I decided against it. I first called another company, which was going to charge me over $80 to come check out the job and then give me a price with the estimate fee applied to the job. That's maybe reasonable considering it takes a person his time to come out and give an estimate, but I think that almost locks you into hiring him with money already invested. Anyway, I decided to call JD Sprinkler and Wendy answered and said there was no charge for their on-site estimate, which worked for me because I wasn't sure what general price we were talking about yet. Derek came out and I told him what I wanted, and he gave me his price, and because he seemed to know what he was talking about and because of all the favorable Angie's reviews and the fact that his price seemed very reasonable, I hired him.
The sprinkler repairs and installation of the new drains took place over parts of a few days, which was fine with me because it wasn't an emergency job and Derek needed to bring different equipment over different days and let some things dry before doing the next stage. I won't go through all the work he did for us, I'll just summarize by saying THANK GOODNESS I didn't attempt it myself. Derek knows what he's doing, and he did a great job for us, handling issues I didn't even know were part of what the job entailed. His work was outstanding, the finished product is outstanding, and his price for all he did for us was more than reasonable.
And no, I could not have come close to matching what Derek did if I had tried to do it myself. If/when I have any sprinkler/drain issues I need handled in the future, I will definitely hire this company again.
"Derek is a sprinkler guy not an electrician. Derek does not do work in the attic that is illegal . If houses in the your area, like you said have wiring in their attics they are not going by the codes Your contractor quit on you and you wanted Derek to finish the job not up to code. You need to hire an electrician that can do the work up to code. Derek would have put in the timer after you had the wiring fixed. Derek said that you had a bad attitude and that you wasted his time. Derek is always friendly to his customers and listens to what they want done and if he can't do the job he will refer it out to someone that can do the work.Derek would have referred an electrician to come and do the job if you asked him. Wendy"
Wow, cannot believe this company has any good reviews after my experience. I called to schedule an appointment and was told that Wendy would have to call her husband to find his schedule. Not a huge deal, but why shouldn't the person answering the phone keep the schedule?
She calls back later and leaves a message for me that they'll be there at 11 the following day. I call back and leave a message saying I wanted to know if there was a cost or not and that I was getting competitive bids. She called back saying no cost for the quote.
Her husband was on time which was good, but from the moment he got out of his truck, he was not very friendly. I explained what I wanted him to look at. He said ok, messed with the timer to turn it on zone after zone for like 1 or 2 minutes. He goes in back, I go inside for a bit, come back out and he's out front already after maybe 5 minutes, not nearly long enough to really analyze the back areas. Then he starts adjusting a sprinkler head not far from my driveway, turning it way up causing it to completely spray my car. I had already adjusted everything down as to not overspray. He goes on and adjusts another one.
I finally say to him, you can just wait on adjusting and give me a quote to do all the work later. He asks if I have to get back to work and I say no, but I am getting competitive quotes and do not want him to spend a bunch of time doing work, just want to know what needs to be done and how much it will cost. He gives me kind of a dirty look and a grunt, goes to the back for about 1 minute, comes back up and says, ok, I'll call you in 20 minutes and leaves. Never heard back from him.
I understand it takes time which is money to the contractor to come out and give a bid an then they may not get picked, but why would I just blindly pick someone and have them do the work. If you need to charge a small fee to come out and give a bid, I can understand, and I would have gladly paid.
I've found a lot of contractors on Angie's List, but I've never experienced such an unprofessional one as JD Sprinklers. Luckily I found another great contractor who was very detailed and meticulous in his analysis and gave me honest detailed advice on what needs to be done.

The response from JD Sprinklers is not correct. The first paragraph is, but second is not. Her husband was not even there 15 minutes total. I told him the second he started working on stuff that I wanted a quote and I told her the same over the phone before he ever came so there should have been no confusion. Her husband also never gave me any quote. He said he'd call to give one, but never did.
"(removed member name). When you called to set up the appointment all you gave me was your work phone number. I called your work three times. The third time a man searched and found your name and transferred me to your department. One of your co-worker s answered the phone and I told him what happened and he said don't worry about it I will have him call you back. You called back and did not say anything about giving me your cell phone number. I had to ask you for it. You said that I had to call my husband about the time to come out to your house to schedule you in. My husband gives his cell phone number to customers and they give him referrals. We work as a team. If he gets a call he call me to tell me his schedule. If I get a call I tell him my schedule. When My husband came to your house you told him you wanted your sprinklers fixed. You discussed what you needed done and my husband went to work on your sprinklers. Fifteen minutes later you said to him I only wanted a quote. He was surprised and gave you a quote of $50.00 dollars. You said to My husband I have other sprinkler people coming out and I will call you back My husband said thank and and have a nice day. I would have responded sooner as I did not know you wrote a review. A customer told me and they were shocked that you wrote such mean thing about us. We have been in business for 20 yrs and have a lot of clients very happy with our work.. Thank You. Wendy Whiston"
