“No Detail Overlooked” This was what they said in the listing for my apartment and it felt like every detail was completely overlooked, consistently, from start to finish. I lived at a crescent canyon building only for a few months and had to break my lease because of so many problems and mismanagement. Do not make the same mistake as me. Do not rent from these people, you will regret it. They rented us an apartment that was “recently renovated” which was dishonest as the building was still under renovation and was not ready yet. Our apartment had been illegally converted into a 2 bedroom which was causing issues with the city, our heater was leaking gas, and we had seemingly endless blown fuses, power shutoffs, and blackouts. On top of the actual issues with our apartment, management was shady and impossible to deal with. Our main point of contact, the on-site manager was often unhelpful with issues and often told us that the problems we had had nothing to do with her and that she couldn’t help us, she consistently shirked responsibility. Every time we talked to her or another person from the company they either contradicted themselves or made us aware that something they had said previously was a lie. Every single time. Our onsite manager consistently made promises that later turned out to be untrue or unfulfilled. Even in moving out we had issues getting back our deposit and prorated rent back as they promised. They originally sent only part of what they owed us, and still owe us some. They told us over and over that “it was the old owners” or “previous contractors” who were the problem and that things were going to be better. This was never the case, we continued to have endless problems. Save yourself the trouble and don’t rent from this company. It’s just not worth it. They just can’t seem to do anything right. Below are the big issues listed out, all these issues happened in less than 6 months of living there. There are other issues we had that are not worth mentioning here, and other tenants had different issues. Electrical - Apartment sold to us as “recently renovated” with new electrical system, not fully true - Never told until after lease signed that electrical system (and the building as a whole) was unfinished - Never given a timeline on when this would be finished - Continuous power outages & shutoffs - exceptionally easy to blow a fuse in the apartment’s breaker box - Not given 24-hour notices for planned power shutoffs - Told we would have to turn off our only AC unit during a heatwave because the building couldn’t handle it Construction - Construction in the building never ended during our time there, even through the pandemic. - Were told that construction workers would be wearing masks when they entered our apartment which was not true - Crescent canyon converted 1 bedroom apartments into two bedrooms against city code - after two months of living in our apartment management contacted us to let us know they would be knocking down the wall between one of the bedrooms and the living room and also demolishing the closet. We had no choice in the matter - We were told by the manager that this was to “get around” a city inspection - the terms of the construction and promises changed every time we were told about it Heating unit - Heating unit not inspected before move in and was leaking gas, at one point the on site manager said it was likely carbon monoxide and then later claimed to have never said such a thing - Property manager told us she suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning on January 1st, later claimed it was another type of gas - other tenants suffered from gas poisoning - our unit not inspected and fixed until january 27th - Advised not to use heater during that time and no alternative heater was provided - Code: “Every dwelling unit and guest room used or offered for rent or lease shall be provided with heating facilities capable of maintaining a minimum room temperature of 70 degrees F” “These facilities shall be installed and maintained in a safe condition”
No fire alarm in bedroom - No fire alarm in one of the bedrooms - Asked about it during inspection - Property Manager first emailed us on January 13th about the issue - Not installed until March 11th. - had to threaten to contact city to get it done Generally poorly Constructed - Entire closet bar/rack fell down immediately upon moving in, was not fixed for several days - “New” towel rack fell off door - Building leaked after rain (had to have people come out twice to fix) - Toilet paper roll needed to be fixed/replaced from day one and was not done till 2nd month
Description of Work: Rented from them and it went horribly. Do not rent from these people

Response from Crescent Canyon Management
Hello [Member Name Removed] & thank you for this review, but it was quite painful to see so many inaccuracies and exaggerations. The property you were living in was, indeed, going through an electrical upgrade and had renovations done to it, but it’s very important for everyone to understand that Crescent Canyon was not involved in those efforts at all! We literally had nothing to do with the renovations or the electrical upgrade. Your accusation that management was “shady” or that we lied is particularly hurtful and just straight up wrong. The onsite manager was an absolute rock star, managing through a really difficult situation where she, and us, had no ability to speed up the electrical upgrade. She was communicative to all the tenants, apologized endlessly to everyone, and was providing ideas to us for what we could do to make things better. Yes, there was a time where we told you the work should be done by a certain date (given to us by the owner), but then it wasn’t. But did we “lie” to you because that date didn’t happen? Of course not! We were just as disappointed and frustrated as the residents to find out that the project was delayed. You mention that you weren’t given 24 hours notice for power outages. This one is perplexing to us because we absolutely gave 24 hours notice for all PLANNED power outages, but clearly we can’t give a future notice of an UNPLANNED power outage. That’s the frustrating thing about the unplanned power outages- they are unplanned! The “Manager” didn’t tell you that anyone was trying to “get around” a city inspector – we has zero interaction with the City inspectors! You might have spoken with one of the construction guys, either a Foreman or a Project Manager, but we have no idea what this person might have told you. [Member Name Removed], please accept our sincere apologies for how bumpy your stay was at this property. We’re proud of how we handled a difficult situation and we really hope you’ve found a new home you’re happy with. Be well and safe!

I hired Crescent Canyon to manage my rental condo, and this is the first time I've ever rented out a property. From day one, my experience with them has been positive: The staff have been very attentive, responsive, and easy to reach. Furthermore, their work has been professionally done, and they appear to be experienced with what they do. My initial in-person meeting with someone at CC (Jon) went well and he clearly explained all that was involved in renting out my condo, and how his company would help. He was very flexible in meeting immediately and evaluating my condo. Once I decided to sign with CC, they quickly cleaned up and fixed up the condo to be ready for rental. This was conveniently done without me needing to be there. Because they have their own contractors, communication between CC, the contractor, and myself was seamless. They also handled all rental listings (on several major websites), showings, and rental applications, credit/background checks, etc. They kept me apprised with who had submitted rental applications so that I could make an informed decision on who to accept. Signing a tenant was likewise handled without a problem. I'm very happy with the tenant that ultimately rented, and still is renting, my place. Issues with the rental, such as appliances breaking down, have been brought to my attention quickly and resolved accordingly. CC also acts as the primary contact for the rental unit with the HOA management company which they handle very well. I'm copied on all correspondence from the HOA manager, but I rarely need to respond to issues. The CC team is always very easily reached and they give me the sense of providing direct attention via individuals' e-mails and phone numbers, i.e. not like having to work through a 1-800 hotline. The staff are friendly, reasonable, and professional. Finally, the cost of their services is very competitive, and I really believe I'm getting the best value out of my money with Crescent Canyon when comparing with other rental management companies.
Description of Work: Crescent Canyon has been managing my rental condo from initial preparation, to finding a qualified tenant, and to handling day-to-day issues such as tenant concerns, appliance repairs, and communicating with HOA management.

I could not recommend Crescent Canyon Management more highly. I am currently out of state and I need to be very hands off regarding my rental unit. Jon and Will are consummate professionals, they take care of everything. First I needed renovations done, quickly and within budget. They (along with a design firm that consult with often) came up with a great plan for my condo well within my budget. Since I am out of state they provided me with many e-mails and pictures keeping me up to date on the renovations. My condo now looks better then when I was living in it! Once that was done we worked together to find the correct asking price for rent. After a bit we found the right price for the neighborhood and now I have a tenant. Jon and Will will contact you as much as you want...if you want them to tell you about every little thing they will. If you only want a quarterly report then that's how they will do it. There is absolutely no one else I would be more comfortable handing the renovations and renting of my condo to.
Description of Work: Jon and Will at Crescent Canyon Management have been the apartment mangers of my condo in LA for about half a year now. Upon my moving away I consulted them regarding making light to medium renovations on my condo to make it more attractive for rental. They came up with great and very affordable ideas for the renovations and once those were completed they advertised/listed my condo found a tenant in no time at all.
