I highly recommend Stanton Plumbing for quality work, reasonable rates and thorough communications.  Patrick came to our rescue after our second slab leak, expediting our re pipe project, and providing daily status.

Very professional, knowledgeable, showed up on time, gave honest assessment and discussed cost prior to working on items noted.  He came prepared and cleaned up after himself.  Absolutely will use him again and feel comfortable referring him.

The push-pull-twist handle in the master bathroom shower was getting difficult to use, and occasionally it was a real chore to get the flow of water stopped completely. According to various YouTube videos, replacing the Moen cartridge that is at the heart of such a handle can be a simple, straightforward process -- or it can be a bear of task, requiring one or two non-standard tools and the expertise to use them. The handle in the other shower was also difficult to use, and the single-handle faucets in the laundry and garage also required more force than they should to manipulate. So I opted for professional assistance with all four.
Patrick came as soon as my schedule would permit (5 days later), and on time. His quick inspection of the faucets confirmed my homeowner's analysis of needing new Moen cartridges. His truck is fairly small and he only had two such cartridges in stock, so he left to try one plumbing supply house after another to obtain the remaining two cartridges, not charging for that time. Each of the faucets required one of the extra tools (a Moen cartridge extractor). When he extracted the cartridge from the master shower, only the interior of the cartridge came out, leaving the exterior. Removing the remainder of the cartridge required the use of the second special tool. That would certainly have been beyond this homeowner's level of expertise. In addition, the laundry and garage faucets needed new O-rings. Patrick had to order those from Moen; he covered the cost of rapid shipping and did not charge for the O-rings, since Moen provided them without charge. He returned after he had the O-rings and completed the work on the laundry and garage faucets. However, the new cartridges seem to have not been a perfect replacement for the old ones: the faucets dripped after they had been shut off. He gave me the option of either removing a portion of the assembly, which would permit the faucet to be turned completely off with no side effect other than slightly dislodging the trim piece that sits above the cartridge; or running out to get plastic cartridges to replace the brass cartridges that he had obtained earlier. Since these faucets are little used, I went with the simple solution of putting one portion of the assembly off to one side, rather than getting new plastic cartridges.
During the entire process, Patrick was happy to let me watch and learn as he explained everything that he did. He referred to himself as a "teaching plumber." His thinking was something like, if I teach you how to do simple things, you'll call me for the complex things. He was a pleasure to work with.

6/18/14:  It was excellent.

4/1/15:  With all the new regulations on bringing plumbing up to code, we were unable to just replace our 30-gallon water heater.
Patrick came out and could see exactly what he needed to do in order to put in a tankless water heater instead.  He gave us a solid bid of $3,500 for the job.  He put in long hours, and worked to be sure we would have our hot water back online as soon as possible.

4/16/15:  Patrick gave a firm bid ($295) to fix the line to the icemaker, and he did an excellent job.  We can now fully use the ice and water dispenser on the fridge.

I would definitely recommend Stanton Plumbing for any plumbing needs.

Got a quote for several items.  Asked to have only one item performed due to high cost of total quote, not pricey, but just more money then we wanted to spend.  The lady on the phone booked us for a date a few weeks out as it was the soonest date she had.  Date came and went and they never showed up.  I called a day or two later to see if maybe I had the wrong date.  She wanted to check her calendar and get back to me, which she did.  I had stepped out and missed the call so she emailed me instead.
She explained that she had forgotten to book us.  She also said the price would be more since the original quote was a package deal with each item discounted, something she had not mentioned when I originally booked the appointment.  She also said that she could reschedule, but the price was now time and material rather than a set price, something she also had never mentioned the first time I booked the appointment.  When I asked for a set price, she said it would most likely be about the same as the original quote (then why not just honor the original quote??)  I emailed again asking for a set price and she said she could only estimate a cost but it could go up or down at the time of the work.  She said all their work was an estimate even though they had provided me with a detailed quote with a specific price originally.
If this were my shop I would have taken 10% of the originally quoted price because I messed up the schedule.  I was shocked that this company would admit to forgetting to schedule me, then raise the price, then change the price from a set price to an estimate.

Response from Stanton Plumbing

"Stanton Plumbing did not complete any work for this customer. Stanton Plumbing submitted an Estimate on December 15, 2014 with a competitive Estimated total price of $935.00 for multiple items that would have taken a full day to complete. On December 23, 2014, the customer called into the office to request service for one line item only. The line item requested on the bid had a bundled estimated rate for $285.00. The office explained to the customer that the Estimate needed to be pulled for review, that since the bid is not being accepted in full, we can do the requested service as a Service Call, at a time and material rate of our regular rates (125.00/hour plus parts), and that we can not schedule them until after the 1st of the new year. The customer did not have a firm time scheduled. On January 9, 2014, the customer called into our office asking when he could be put on the schedule. The office took down his information to call him back with a firm time and to re-state our procedures. The two numbers that were given by the client were not answered when attempted to call back. The first number (the number the client had just called in with) went to an office building where the client was not located. The second number, was another business line where no one answered. The office immediately wrote an email to the customer reminding that the service requested would be a Service Call at a time and material rate, with date and times offered to schedule, along with our procedures and disclaimers we inform every customer after they request only one item from a Estimate. Stanton Plumbing can not honor a specific line item's estimated price only, on a multi-line bid because the total price (labor and materials) on the bid was based upon us being on site for the entirety of the bid. That is why on a multi-job Estimate the total price is discounted because we do not have to come back to complete each line item. Office also requested via email for personal phone numbers where we could contact them directly. Client responded with a short question requesting a flat, firm rate for the service, and did not give the office valid phone numbers to contact. Office kindly informed client that we can not give a firm price, yet we gave an estimated time of 2 hours to complete the job at 125.00/hour plus minimal parts. The estimated total price for the only item requested would be $270.00, less than what was originally quoted on the bid ( $250.00 labor plus $20.00 or so in parts). Office also stated our disclaimer for hidden and unforeseen changes because the customer's job entailed opening up sheet rock to repair a gas line and we could not give customer a firm price or time frame until we opened up the wall. Client was informed, if it took longer than 2 hours to complete then they would be charged by the hour, price could go up, yet if it took less than estimated 2 hours, price would go down. Client demanded a firm price again. Office gave customer the Estimate for $270.00 again and explained procedures again. This job's total estimated price that the customer requested came to less than what was originally quoted. Stanton Plumbing did our best to explain our policy's and procedures to the client. Estimate's are only an approximate calculation and judgment based on our expertise. Estimates are not firm prices, and have the ability to escalate, which we were trying to explain to the client. Stanton Plumbing never submitted a firm price to this client. We offered our excellent services at a competitive estimated price to this client, yet the client declined our new lower estimate. If the client would like to schedule for a Service Call we would be more than happy to accommodate them."

We called Stanton Plumbing and we got a friendly staff member who quickly set-up the appointment for the next day. When Patrick arrived on time he introduced himself and quickly went to the bathroom where he unplugged the bathtub drain. We also mentioned the bathtub faucet was leaking and he promptly repaired that too. Patrick was friendly and did not hesitate to answer any questions we had. The slow drainage and leak was fixed. We would use this provider again without hesitation.

From the beginning of the estimate process, Patrick was very informative, punctual, tidy and friendly. He explained the different tankless water heaters, their pros and cons as well as maintenance features. He provided estimates for all work beforehand and even came in under estimate on occasion. When a problem came up with the drainage of the unit causing is to shut down, he came out to fix it at no cost by the end of the day. When we had a new countertop installed in the kitchen, he came out again to install the sink. When we put down new tile in the kitchen, he came back out to make sure I hooked up the dishwasher correctly and didn't charge me for the visit. He has been nothing but professional during the multiple projects we've had for him. I would recommend him to anyone - and already have!

Excellent job. Patrick is obviously very detail oriented. He was clean, quick, professional and on time. He did the job for less then his estimate, and left everything spic and span. Replaced the leaking angle-stop. Stanton is our new regular plumber.

Patrick did a great job explaining the pros and cons of a traditional water heater versus a tankless one. We chose to go with the traditional heater. The installation went seamlessly. Patrick is very professional and knowledgable.

Response from Stanton Plumbing

"[member name removed], We apologize if you perceived our company policy in a different way. Stanton Plumbing does do work for renters. Our company policy which was explained to you is we can only come out to a renters home if we have a Work Authorization Form filled out and signed by the Owner of the home. Stanton Plumbing requires this document for liability reasons. If a renter calls requesting service without informing the owner, the owner can then sue a company that worked on their home without giving his/her consent. Stanton Plumbing needs the Owner's approval at a rental home before any work can begin."

Very happy with Patrick's professionalism and quality of his work. He asked that I email some photos so he could make sure he had the correct parts along so I appreciated the forethought and efficiency as well. Price was fair for the amount of work involved.

I found Patrick on Noritz' web site as local plumbers certified to work on their products. I had a faulty heating element on my tankless and first had Benjamin Franklin Plumbing come out and diagnose it. They did diagnose it correctly but quoted me $1400! they'd lower it to #1200 if I joined their club. Patrick came out to my home on time, prepared--in fact he called me beforehand to get the exact model number so he could prepare prior to the call. He fixed it thoroughly...and only charged me for his time--3 hours of labor at $375...a cool grand less than the aforementioned.
Honest, capable, and competent. Thanks, Patrick.

Patrick, as usual, arrived exactly on time. He called about 1 hour in advance, to let me know he was on the way. He was familiar with the Toto dual flush (not the standard install), and finished the job in less than an hour. He replaced the too-long supply line with a shorter one, and replaced the nylon bolts with metal. He discussed whether or not to caulk around the base, and explained the pros/cons, letting me make the decision. He cleaned up quickly - leaving no sign that work had been done, just the perfectly anchored toilet. Patrick gave me a short-lead appointment, as I was selling my house. He is highly professional and meticulous in his workmanship.
As a side note: he had previously installed replacement valves and a pressure regulator on the main water supply line. A plumber doing a sewer inspection for my home buyer raved about the quality of Patrick's work on the valves, and said he rarely saw that attention to detail. I have called Patrick on several occasions - always received the best work I've ever seen.

When I called, the missus was helpful, offered me same-day service if absolutely required (I wasn't in a rush), and set me up with a window when Patrick would arrive. Patrick called the morning of to narrow the window and again when he was on his way.
When he showed, Patrick took the time to listen to me, what steps I'd already performed as a semi-handy-homeowner, diagnosed the problem, told me what was involved, and set about fixing it ... all in less time than it took me to write this review. Simple, straightforward, no-nonsense.
Great communication from the both of them, solved the problem (and didn't mind me having hacked at it first :D ) so I'll call them again the next time I have need.

We were told at the last minute that this inspection had already been performed. So I called Patrick a few hours before his scheduled arrival time and explained what happened. He was very understanding and courteous about the last-minute cancellation. I truly appreciate his professionalism and we will certainly call him for future work.
