Victor (the technician) came to my house to clean up my 25 year old system. I was interested in possibly buying a new furnace in the near future. Even though I asked about 1000 questions, he remained very calm and patient. I should say that thanks to Victor's knowledge and patience I was convinced to buy the new Rheem. Thanks again. Two workers showed up at my house at 8:15am (very punctual). I only remember the name of one of them, Lee. He explained what they would do and after we agreed on the location of the AC box (which was in a different location than the old one) they worked all day and managed to finish at about 5:15pm. After that, Lee spent about 20 minutes showing me how the system works. A week later, Shawn was at my door at 8:00am to do the finishing touches to insulate and seal all the vent pipes (I don't know if this is the right word). I was very happy with the whole experience from start to finish. I was also very impressed with the quality of work performed and even with the office personnel that communicated with me before and after the work was done. Thank you ALL very much.
Description of Work: removed and disposed of old equipment. Furnished and installed new Rheem 75000 Btu up flow 95% single stage gas furnace with 3" PVC flue. Run new control wiring to new Honeywell digital thermostat. Installed new Rheem 14.5 Seer Value R-410A 3 ton Condenser relocated, with new evaporator coil. Field brazed, leak tested and evacuated system Flushed line-set for R-410A. Performed full duct seal. Performed complete start up.

He looked at my heater and marked that he checked about 10 items. He used a small brush to "clean the flow sensor". He also found and looked up at (it's in the ceiling) one of 2 intake locations - he marked this as checking the air filters. He may also have looked up at the other one (once I pointed it out to him, but I didn't observe this). Finally, he walked around the house and measured the airflow and temperature at most of the heater vents. He asked me if anyone had checked the ducts in recent years (yes). He said everything looked fine. He was there for 20 minutes. I wouldn't call this a tune-up and cleaning. I'd call it an inspection. The only item he adjusted was to uncover a vent in the floor that I had previously blocked off. So, one item cleaned and one item adjusted. Everything else "inspected." Maybe my expectations were wrong, but it wasn't what I expected.

I found them on Angie?s list and also checked them in other places and they had no complaints. I was very happy with them. I thought they were professional. I spoke to a person on phone who scheduled a person to come over and give me an estimate. The estimator was very professional and good in explaining the different components of the quote. They followed through within the time frame they had given. They did the job for the price they said they would do. They did a good job and the workmen were professional. Their price was fair.

Exceptional people to do business with. Dave Haddon, the owner patiently explained our options and and cost benefits. They were one of the four contractors we met with and were by far the most professional and their price was reasonable - not the lowest but very fair for the quality of work. They met all commitments; removed the old units and installed the new one's in a neat professional manner. Kim, the co-owner cordinated the work around our schedule and even applied for the PG&E credit on our behalf. Lee was the lead technician and did a high quality job. It was an unusually smooth process from beginning to end.

Team was great - punctual and efficient. Answered all my (many) questions and made sure I had everything I needed to claim all the refunds available for the system I chose. Prices seemed in line with or better than the other estimates I got. The work looks great and was finished within a more than reasonable timeframe (finished within a week and a half from providing estimate). I would recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: Replaced heating system for small home, including a new furnace and all central heating lines and vents. Note that price of 7500 is the total price (with refunds price would be around 1800 less).

Dave Haddon and a colleague came out within three days of our call back in July. They provided a very competitive quote for the furnace, air conditioner, ductwork, insulation installation, and asbestos removal. They were very pleasant to deal with and answered all questions. We were making some other decisions regarding our housing, and let Dave know that it would be a while before we made our decision. We called back in October, and asked whether his company could also remove the old insulation. He contacted the asbestos removal firm and then provided us a quote for the additional work. He also extended his original quote for the other work, which, given the time delay, had expired. Mrs. Haddon, who handles much of the administration, contacted us the next morning to schedule the work for the following week. (One of the rebates was expiring November 15, and the fund for the CEC rebate was also getting used up pretty fast.) Mrs. Haddon was helpful in advising us to cancel our maid service for that week and indicated that between asbestos removal and installation, the work would take at least four days. Removal of the asbestos and old insulation took longer than expected (primarily due to the insulation removal process), but Haddon was able to keep three people on our site for the remaining two days so that his team was able to finish the work on time (total for both phases was four days--two days asbestos and insulation removal and two days heating, A/C, and ductwork installation). The workers from both PW Stephens and Haddon were good-natured and hard working. The Haddon workers appeared to be particularly skilled. The bid provided by Haddon for adding insulation removal and installation was better than that which we received from another local firm (probably due to the fact that the crew was already going to be out here, and the fact that Haddon was using R-30 rather than R-38 insulation, which was perfectly acceptable to us). While most firms do not push this aspect of the service (it was something we specifically requested), we were very pleased with having the old insulation (tufts of cotton or fiberglass sprinkled throughout the attic) removed before installation of the new insulation (which came in rolls). The entire attic was cleaned, and if we want to remodel at some point, it will be possible to re-use the new sheets, since they will also not be intermingled with the old fibers.
Description of Work: Replaced 1954 heater with new Rheen variable speed furnace and air conditioner, installed new LCD thermostat, duct work, and R-30 insulation. (This price, collected by Haddon, also included asbestos removal AND removal of the old insulation, which was performed by PW Stephens, the asbestos removal firm that Haddon uses. ) This price is the amount of the check written. Since the project qualified for $3450 in tax credits and rebates ($1500 Federal tax credit, $200 PG&E rebate, $950 Rheem Rebate, and $800 CEC Rebate), the net cost to us was $12,124.00.

They were very good. We were very happy with them. It went very well. The thing I liked was that they followed up and they sent a thank you card afterward and they asked if everything was okay and that if there was anything we needed to let them know. They are a family owned business and you get that from them when you deal with them. They aren't some big company, just a real family business.

The people at Haddon were amazing, and the work turned out beautifully. Everyone was so professional, punctual, and courteous. They explained all the options available, and how the work would be done. They showed up when they said they would. They returned telephone calls promptly. The guys who did the work were wonderful, and so thoughtful about the little things that are so important, like making sure the gates were closed so that our dogs didn't get out, and cleaning up at the end of the day (the work lasted several days because there was so much to do). After the work, they processed all the manufacturer and PG&E refunds for us so we didn't have to worry about it, and can just wait for the checks to come in the mail. We also couldn't be happier with our new system - it is the perfect fit for our home, and keeps us and our pets very comfortable. We would highly, highly, highly recommend Haddon to anyone thinking about having HVAC work done.
Description of Work: Our home had only wall heaters, and no A/C, so Haddon installed ducts, registers, furnace, and A/C, and did all the tear out and disposal of old equipment and upgrade of electrical. They also patched the walls where the old wall units and thermostat had been.

Our positive experience started when the owner, Dave Haddon, came to give us an estimate two months ago. He was very professional, willing to give advice on how to keep costs down, and so friendly that we chatted for a while after the estimate. I appreciated that he's a local-- born and raised in the area, lives one town over and the business is based in nearby Pacheco. I should mention that subsequent estimates that we got from other vendors brought rude contractors into our house, and one who only pushed the most expensive option over and over despite our saying that we couldn't afford a $10K A/C system. So, Dave really stood out because he understood our budget, needs and wants. His estimate was significantly lower than the competition, despite his diamond certification, and top-rated products. We waited two months to move ahead with the installation (due to the unseasonably cool weather, a myriad of other house projects and family travel schedule). Dave checked in with us a couple of times during those two months, but was not at all pushy. (None of the other vendors called us once, so I knew he was interested in and valued our business). When I called to schedule the work, the original quote was honored with no issue. In fact, Dave had xeroxed all of his notes for me at the time of the estimate-- so we both had the same paperwork in front of us when I called. Seemingly a small thing, but much appreciated since I know not all vendors are that organized. Three days after I called, work began. Dave's crew (two men) were prompt, and in fact, arrived 5 minutes before 8am, the scheduled start time. They talked us through the work checklist to make sure they were going to do the agreed work, and we gave them a tour of the property. Both my husband and I were working from home that day, and the workers were completely un-obtrusive, and very polite. They actually finished work around 2:30pm-- when we expected they could be at the house until 5pm! A nice surprise on a Friday. The house was left spotless-- you would have never known that our furnace space had been ripped up and lots of work had been done. We've been very happy with the system they installed. Its a quiet unit (as Dave promised) and cools very nicely. Overall, our experience was top-notch and I would definitely recommend them!
Description of Work: We recently bought a 1954 original owner house without A/C. With summer just around the corner, we wanted to get A/C installed. We have a 10-year old furnace that works just fine, and we decided that, to keep costs low, we would only add A/C to our system. In less than a day, Haddon installed a new circuit to our breaker board, ran electric/wiring/etc to the far side of our house where the A/C unit would be installed, and updated the duct from the furnace to the rest of our duct work.

The project went great. Dave came by and spent a ton of time with me discussing options for improving the distribution of heat throughout our home and cutting down our summertime energy bills. He made very pragmatic suggestions what were within our budget. We decided to improve the HVAC system in two ways: 1. replace the old, leaky, metal ductwork under the house with new modern, flexible, duct "tubing"; and, 2. replace the outdoor A/C condenser with a more energy efficient unit. I then spoke with Kim to schedule the job for the following week. Also, even though we had the cash to pay for the job, Kim set me up with 12 month "same as cash" financing through one of their finance partners which lets us hold on to our cash and pay in chunks with no interest charges. Bonus! The crew showed up exactly when they said they would both days of the job. Each morning they put down drop cloths to keep the interior of the house clean and cleaned up their work area and vacuumed at the end of both days. They was very friendly and worked hard to get the job done within the alloted time. After the job was complete, both Dave and Kim followed up to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. They were quick to respond both by phone and e-mail. Most importantly, we have immediately noticed an improvement in heat distribution in our home and I've been able to lower the thermostat while at the same time having all rooms feel warmer. I'm looking forward to lower cooling bills in the summer as well.

Eventually it all turned out OK, although there were a few bumps along the way. Following the initial one day installation, Haddon returned twice to address noise and ductwork issues and correct a few deficiencies noted by the building inspector. Haddon did resolve most of the issues in a timely fashion but there is a fundamental noise issue with the furnace that could not be addressed without the expensive retrofit of acoustic insulation within the furnace closet which I elected not to do. I am hopeful that I will eventually adjust to the noise and it will not be so bothersome as initially experienced. Now that the weather is warm and the AC is running, the noise is not objectionable. It seems to be a problem with just the furnace.

Victor came and gave an estimate to install the new furnace. After talking about the possibilities, my husband and I decided it would be best to install a new evaporator coil as well. Victor was very easy to work with and professional. They scheduled the work for the following week and two Haddon employees came to do the job. They were very polite and did a professional job. They started around 8 and finished up much earlier than I expected. I had a few questions in the two weeks following, regarding the permit, rebate and tax credit. Kim called me back the same day every time I called and helped me with all my questions. In choosing Haddon Heating and Cooling, I felt assured I had chosen a quality furnace and I was confident in their workmanship and business practices. I highly recommend them. They'll make sure you're satisfied with their work.

Andrew, the sales rep, was friendly and willing to answer detailed follow-up questions. I talked with Kim in the office several times. She was very organized and pleasant to deal with. The two installers were excellent workers that clearly knew what they were doing and willing to do a bit extra when asked. Haddon was much less expensive than the other company I contacted. They also took care of permit paperwork for us and helped with information about rebates and tax credits. And, best of all, we now have consistent heat from a highly efficient furnace that will save energy and money each month. Overall a very positive experience!

The Haddons rock! After 3 calls to other companies and 2 estimates, Dave (Owner)came in way under than the other 2 companies. I had the pleasure of dealing with Dave both during the estimate and he also did the install with one other colleague. Great overall experience. Took just one day for the install and the system really works nice. Topnotch installers and the Amana system has the best warranty out there. Good communication throughout the entire process. I didn't feel like I was dealing with a used car salesman- all upfront and to the point. If you want your old system upgraded to the latest high efficiency model, call the Haddons. I have had 2 other major jobs done on our house (new roof and new windows) and the Haddons were really the best.

After finding several reviews online about Haddon Heating, I decided to get a quote to replace our HVAC system. I was really surprised when one of the companys namesakes showed up to write the estimate. I was even more surprised that they could complete the work in one day and had a day open the following week to schedule the work. After talking with Dave about our options (I originally called in regards to a leak in 30 year old system), I was convinced that replacing the entire system was the way to go. He chose the new units, which are high quality top of the line Amana units, and wrote a quote for me. I had them return two days later for the installation. Daves crew is extremely professional, friendly and respectful of my house. After they finished the installation, they cleaned up their mess and even insisted on vacuuming the floors. I cant recommend these guys enough, it was a pleasant experience start to finish. Theyve got my business the next time a HVAC need arises.
