There are a couple positive things I am going to mention: 1) They did perform an extra service, not in our contract, that took a few hours to perform. They ran the speaker wire under the baseboards from one side of the great room to the other. We had been prepared to pay, but they did this at no extra charge. 2) When I contacted them about the problems with the installation they were quick to come out and assess the problems, quick to assure us that they take complaints seriously, but not quick to complete the work. They didn't come in and repair the landing step (which had come loose only a week after installation) and they didn't bring someone in to fix the carpet transitions which were done wrong and if I hadn't been careful with the vacuum cleaner Slaughterbeck would have been paying for new carpet in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. 3) When the team finally came in to fix the problems it was done thouroughly and with great care (more of what I expected the first time around rather than the second).
All in all I am very pleased with the product that was installed and will extend it into our kitchen when we remodel that, but I will not be using Slaughterbeck Flooring to do it. They talk a big game, but really don't "care" as much as they say they do.
"Slaughterbeck Floors realizes that working in residential homes is disruptive to families and their routines. There were definitely problems on this job. To address our scheduling; this particular job required work that needed to be done in phases that allowed time for drying or curing. The best use of time (and to react to the customers desire to get the job completed quickly) we offered to do the first phase on a Friday and return on a Monday. As this was not an option for this customer we offered an alternative schedule to better meet their needs. Customer was given choices, we don’t feel there was any bullying involved. We are all different and have different levels of expectations when work is done in our homes. We realize that construction in our customer’s homes can not only be stressful for them but also not meet their expectations. The large majority of our customers prefer not to be in the house during our work and usually check on it periodically. This work and the resolution took place over a year prior to this negative post --- we felt we had resolved all of the customer’s concerns and problems. The delay in time to resolve these items, which was explained to the customer, was the fact that the wood for the resolution had to come from Canada and our local distributor was unable to get the material here any quicker than they did. Conversely there are no “perfect contractors”. Yes, work should be done “perfectly” and correctly the first time, but realistically there is no perfect job. Even the contractors state license board realizes this by mandating that customers allow contractors to address concerns or problems in jobs prior other means. Once we were able to receive this wood we scheduled the resolution work at a time convenient to the customer. In closing --- we take issue with this customers comment that we “talk a big game but don’t really care”. As issued in other reviews, we do care and try very hard to have customers satisfied and happy with their flooring experience with Slaughterbeck Floors."
Professional service is the only way to describe Slaughterbeck Flooring. Many hours were spent with the staff and Joan Slaughterbeck, (the owner), reviewing various carpets for just the right color, texture and quality. A second purchase involved a contract to refinish our living room floor. It was an expert job by Slaughterbeck?s contractors and the matching to the existing hardwood floors was amazing. Final words: It was outstanding service and expertise demonstrated by Joan Slaughterbeck, her staff and contractors.
"We appreciate the time to give us this review. We, at Slaughterbeck Floors, feel that taking time with each client to make sure the propper materials are selected for their needs is an important part of the flooring process."
more than satisfied with the results. As issues came up they were quick to address our concerns
and make us feel comfortable with the results. We are so happy that we chose Slaughterbeck Floors.
"Thank You for your confidence and positive review. Referral is the best advertising any business can get and we appreciate your time."
"We appreciate the great review and look forward to a chance in the future."
"We look forward to repeat work with all our customers as we feel we can make the process easier."
"Unfortunately, our response to this post is quite late, but truthfully we would expect that the differences in the two estimate was more of an apples and oranges issue in the differing estimates."
"Thank you for your review, we are happy to make your flooring experience a positive one."
