We didn't hire them. They were, like all the people we called out, very professional and very knowledgeable. He had samples of the different composite materials that we were considering which definitely helped. We didn't have any major problems with him. Obviously, we chose somebody else. I would use them again in the future for a quote if I needed to.

Good - prompt, professional and pleasant. Finished on budget and on time.

When he finished deck, he asked if I needed other work. He supervised subs who painted outside and inside of house, installed 3 fans, fixed outside lighting, new gate, power washed patio. I liked all of the subs and was very happy with all the work.

Matt came to the house to give us an estimate for a deck. He was prompt, very knowledgable, had some great ideas. He emailed me a quote in writing that afternoon. He quoted both redwood and trex material for me. His quote was very fair. The project ended up being a much bigger deal than we'd anticipated (not the deck portion, but the whole house). We ended up hiring a general contractor so he had his people build the deck. I wish we would have used Matt. I'm sure he would have done a great job.

It was a great experience. I've been looking at bids for this job since the spring, getting estimates of $50/sq. ft. I don't believe a deck, 3 feet off of the ground, replacing an existing one should cost anywhere near that price. I waited until the fall and began collecting new bids. One wanted to repair existing wood deck (not what I asked for), one was $48/sq.ft., the third was very well priced at $21/sq.ft., but he wanted to do the rails in wood. I chose Matt Thompson at YourDeckBuilder.com for a few reasons: (1) he e-mailed me - on his honeymoon - to let me know he could not come by earlier than October 1; (2) he called me on Oct. 1 and came to bid on the job on Oct. 2, a week after all the other folks had come out. Even though he looked at the job a week later, he submitted a very good bid BEFORE the others and indicated he could start immediately. I had to contact the other contractors in order to compare bids! (3) he listened to what I wanted, as little wood maintenance as possible, and gave me what I asked for. I signed a contract with Matt on Oct 6 and the job was completed by Oct 10. Matt is great. He gets the job done, takes the time to review progress and answer the homeowner's questions, and is friendly and polite. The job site was well cleaned at the completion of the project. I called and recieved 3 seperate estimates from different contractors. The meeting with Matt went the best by far. He didnt tell me what I could or could not do!, as some others did. He listend to what I wanted and gave me advise for all the options. He said in so may words "anything is possible". I told him my budget range and we came up with and removed differnt ways to do the project. I ended up being $800.00 under the budget I set out to spend on this project
