Went well.  Came on time, was friendly.  Great cleaning job.

He called and asked if it was ok to come an hour early which was fine with me. He actually showed up 10 min early. He went straight to work and didn't leave a mess. He explained what he did and that everything checks out fine. He gave me a few tips on using the fireplace and when I should schedule another cleaning depending on how much I use the fireplace. He was very nice and professional. I would use them again in the future.

Martin was very helpful in not only cleaning my fireplaces but providing contacts for some vendors who could fix one of my fireplaces that has a broken glass door.

I didn't need any additional work, just a straightforward sweep of an older, wood burning fireplace chimney with an insert. The 2 men who came were prompt, courteous, and answered all my questions. They took the time to clean the interior, doors and exterior area around the fireplace. Had I needed work done I would have considered hiring them..

Our service providers called us the morning of our appointment to ask us if we minded if they were a little late, but it worked out great for us as we were out having waffles, so didn't have to rush through our breakfast. When we arrived the van was parked in front of our home, with the supplies unloaded and ready to go. The two gentlemen came in and got right to work, one inside the home, and the other up on the roof. They took the time to spread out extra blankets so as not to stain the white carpets we inherited from the previous owner! They were very friendly and took the time to explain things as they went along and answer all the questions my husband was asking. When they were finished, we all drove down and met at our rental property, and they got to work there too. The chimney had been cleaned a couple years ago, and hadn't been used since, but they got more soot and debris out, and pulled out the rusted damper as well (which I was sorry about as it can't be repaired until they order a new part. Our renter is kind of miffed that they have to cover the fireplace to stop heat loss until the repair is complete, but are excited about having a functional fireplace.) The scheduler called us the same day with an appointment to complete the repairs next week. All in all I was happy with the service and both workers were very friendly and professional. We used 3 Angie's list coupons for $99 clean and inspect, and paid by check for the new chimney caps. We will spend a little more for the cap/damper combo that will be installed next week, I believe it will be around $4-450 with some inside the chimney repair to do also. Looking forward to a cozy fireplace night soon!

He was clean and professional. He did his job and left. It was a great experience.

It was okay. He was in and out in 15 minutes. I am not so sure that he did a great job but then again, I don't know that he didn't. I was in the shower and my husband was there and showed him to the chimney. He did his thing and by the time I got out of the shower he was gone. It was a pretty good pay, $99 for 15 minutes of work. I hope that what he did was correct and that there was no garbage built up in the chimney. We haven't been using it mostly because of the blow back but he could not do anything with the chimney top. My husband had wanted a new chimney cap and he could not do anything with that for one reason or another. And that was it. We didn't have anything negative. I don't know whether it was positive. He was in and he was out and that was it. My husband also didn't have any negative thing to say. We don't know if it was done well or not. I guess we'll find out when winter comes or when I need to use the fireplace. We don't use it that much. It has not been cleaned ever and probably 30 years of stuff built up in there and we figured it needed to be cleaned of something. $99 was certainly a fair price but whether or not he actually cleaned anything out, I don't know.

It was a pleasure to work with Mister Chimney's crew because everyone was friendly, polite, professional, on-time and on-budget. Martin Nava, who supervised our project, first visited our house to evaluate the old chimney and inspect the fireplace itself. He diagnosed the problems immediately and gave me a firm price quote. The final price was exactly what his quote was. He did not write up a contract for me to sign before he started the work, and after they started I had a fleeting thought that I should have requested a contract to avoid any possible misunderstandings after the job was done. But in fact, we did it all on a handshake and Mr. Chimney's crew was 100% honest and reliable on the financial details. (However, it is smart to ask for a written contract signed by both parties before any construction work is done on one's house because contractors can place a lien on one's house if they allege that the bill was not paid in full. If one only has a verbal understanding sealed with a handshake, one has no proof of what the original quote was!!!  I knew that...but Martin Nava exuded honesty and confidence and I didn't ask for a contract when he gave me a verbal quote.)
Martin Nava also gave me a completion date that was only a few days into the future. I was wondering if he could really meet such an ambitiously soon date, but in fact, the crew completed the entire project the day before it was promised to me! Wow--how often does that happen?? Really excellent service!!

To summarize, I appreciate Angie's List's having helped me find Mister Chimney, and I especially appreciate Mr. Martin Nava and his excellent and hard-working crew of experts for doing our project very well, quickly, and exactly at the price quoted in advance.

Hidalgo was very pleasant and helpful.  He explained the significance of the cracks in the fireplace and the wood around it.  It was a pleasure doing business with him.

Excellent service.  I called them on a Saturday and they returned my call within an hour and came to give me an estimate about an hour after that.  They had to manufacture a required part which took a few days but they completed all the work within about four days.  They relined the chimney, installed a new damper, and repointed the firebox.  I couldn't be more pleased with the service.

Martin consistently amazes me with his professionalism.  Not only he said the chimney is reasonable clean and suggested no cleaning, he waved the fees!  not even charging me a minimum.  He also took time to explain how to best use a L shape chimney to avoid smoke returning to unit.  the trick is simple, just build the fire slightly toward the walls and open the trap door completely.

Everything about this company was great! It was easy to make an appointment, and the service tech arrived right on time. After taking a look at our chimney he determined that it wasn't as bad as we had thought, so he charged us less than the quoted price. Fast, efficient, friendly and professional. I highly recommend Mr. Chimney.

We use the on in the downstairs family room often during the winter. They got a ton of creosote out of it. Ya, I know, a real fire hazard.
We don't use the one in our master bedroom very much and I told them that. They said it probably didn't need it but I have them do it anyway. Just in case.

They were more than an hour late, apparently because the wrong address was written on the invoice, "194" instead of "1945".  The rating would have been nearly perfect but arriving late and saving street parking for them for almost 25 minutes after I phoned and determined that they were on the other side of SF.
 Regardless both did a good job, knowledgeable (explained different types of chimney caps, chimney design, were careful to protect carpet, personable).
