Now, we have to hire another plumber to verify and fix the source of the leak. If it turns out that Pacific Coast Repipe is in fact liable, we will let a Small Claims Court judge decide who should bear the risk of loss. Suggestions for Pacific Coast Repipe: 1.) advise the customer about their so-called "risk" of a warranty v. non-warranty cost before the workman goes on the job. 2.) tell the truth - if you don't know simply say so. 3.) don't intimidate customers with veiled threats to extort payment.
Description of Work: Nothing. We mentioned the original work had been completed without the city giving us a final acceptance. Further we showed the workman where the water line was still connected to a non-functioning outside irrigation line and where damp carpet was found within 18-24 inches of the outside shutoff valve. The workman said" I dont know nothing about that". We are not plumbers and don't reasonably know whether the leak is/was related to unfinished work, the original slab leak. The workman then claimed the leak came from another source, i.e., the neighboring bathroom fixture. In fairness it is possible the leak could have originated from the adjacent sink. The time expended was 15 minutes total. The workman filled his water jug from our kitchen sink inorder to fill his leaking truck radiator. He said thanks and left. 5 minutes later he returned claiming we owed him $80.00 because the service call turned out to be ' non-warranty related'. I then spoke to his very rude "boss" on his cell phone and asked why the surprise cost. The "boss" (unknown name) claimed he had been trying to call us in advance but said our telephone line was busy. (We had received no telephone calls from anyone all day) I asked the "boss" to send me a bill rather than give cash to the driver. The "boss" then replied " O.K. but it's gonna be more now!"

Response from Pacific Coast Copper Repipe, Inc.
Pacific Coast Repipe takes great pride in our work and we evaluate all comments and criticism weather it’s true or false. This happens to be an interesting situation because of how things transpired. We received a call on a Saturday thru our answering service that mentioned a possible leak. We called the number numerous times to confirm and never got an answer. When we hear the word leak we take it seriously, so not knowing if someone would be home or not, our on call plumber went out to check out the situation. And just to clarify, everyone that works for us is a plumber, the difference is that we only do repiping and are not your typical service type plumbing company. Upon arrival it took no time at all to determine that this leak was drain line related and had nothing to do with the repipe that we had performed 9½ years ago. In circumstances such as this it is not unusual for us to collect a minimal trip charge when we dispatch a plumber for a call that ends up not being related to our repiping. This is normally discussed with the customer prior to us dispatching a plumber but in this case the customer was not returning our multiple calls responding to the emergency call. Since the visit, I have tried numerous times to contact this customer to discuss the events that took place and have yet to receive a return phone call. I have to wonder why someone is willing to immediately turn to the internet and threaten court actions but unwilling to discuss things directly. We would still like the opportunity to discuss this matter and welcome a return call. Thanks, Doug Adair

When the crew showed up, they did a walk-through of the house with my husband. They all seemed very professional and the crew leader was very communicative which we liked. However, when my husband mentioned his concerns about our delicate wood floors (equipment being brought into the house and the debris and dust from opening up holes on the walls for vertical pipes etc can damage our floors), they said they will use the moving blankets for the heavy traffic areas but that would be the extent of protecting the floors. They said they will not cover the furniture, any electronics, kitchen cabinets etc etc. There would be dust and they will do their best to clean up afterward. My husband mentioned to them that the moving blankets are dangerous as people can slip and also if the dust and debris get under the blankets, the workers can scratch the floors. The crew leader said we can go and buy the rosin papers and protect the floors ourselves and buy the plastic sheets to cover the kitchen cabinets, closet, furniture etc from being covered with dust. This is something that did not occur to us to ask prior to starting since we thought it was a standard practice for them to provide the rosin papers and plastic sheets so we were a bit shocked. To make matter worse, despite the fact that in the written bid, we were needing to run a 1" high pressure line and remove the water heater to run the pipes, they did not have the 1" high pressure pipe and they refused to move the water heater. The crew leader said they were not informed about the water heater. They said they are not comfortable moving forward as if anything happens (damage caused to our house) the cost to fix the damages will come out of their pay check and they cannot afford to have this happen. This is the most absurd thing we ever heard! Since we needed to have the re-pipe done, my husband made every attempt to work with the crew and Doug and even offered to paper the entire house ourselves and agreed (as a measure of last resort) to run exposed pipes in the garage from the water heater which would have never accepted beforehand. But since they did not have the 1" high pressure pipe, we had to agree to reschedule for another time after going back and forth with Doug and the crew leader. Doug thought we were being very particular and unreasonable about wanting to protect the wooden floors, etc and made the crew feel uncomfortable. The reviewers can judge for themselves. We did bend over backwards to accommodate PCCR (as opposed to the other way around), we felt that we were left stranded. This is the first company we ever encountered that was unwilling to perform the agreed upon job and caused us headaches and time. Doug said he will call back to reschedule and he never did so I followed up with him and he said he will look at his calendar to confirm the date he had in mind but that was it so we went ahead and found another company. Needless to say, the other company brought their own rosin papers and plastic sheets and they covered everything. This other company said they never heard such thing as not wanting to cover the house and protect it.
Description of Work: They bid on the project for copper re-pipe for the entire house. Price wise, they were in the middle and since they had very good reviews on Angie's List, we awarded the project to them.

As we all know, there are two sides to every story. Having been in this business 23 years we have learned that you can’t always please everyone no matter what you do or how hard you try. It is always our intention to provide the best quality work possible and for our clients to be 100% satisfied. In this extremely rare case we felt that there was a chance that we were not going to be able to deliver that level of customer satisfaction and decided it was in the best interest of both our company and the customer, to turn this job down. Ultimately, we disappointed a potential client and for that we apologize. We work hard for our reputation with integrity and honesty and believe that all of our other reviews where the work was actually performed reflect this.

We live in a 50 year old house...and had I found Angie's list and Pacific Coast Repipe sooner, we might have saved ourselves some damage and repairs. A pipe broke in the ceiling between floors and caused a lot of water damage. The first plumber on the scene said wow...you should really repipe because it will cost you several thousand to fix the leak...and then it might leak again. He wanted $14,000 to repipe our 2,400 SQ. FT. 3 bathroom house (the kitchen had already been done a few years back.) We were in shock...how were we going to pay for everything? Then we signed up for Angie's list and read the reviews for many plumbers and repipe prices and found that the first price was very high. We called Pacific Coast for a bid the next day. Doug arrived right on time and was very helpful and knowledgeable about our options. We had no running water and no electricity because of where the pipe had broken. He even offered to get a crew together for the weekend...but because of the damage at the house, we had to wait for the remediation team to clear us. As soon as we were cleared for asbestos, Pacific Coast was able to get a crew there in two days and get our water running again. You don't realize how much you really love running water until you don't have any for a week! The crew worked really hard. It was a very hot day 90-95 degrees, we could not run the AC, and they had to spend a long time in the attic. It took a little longer than we thought because of a few issues with our old plumbing...but they kept on going and did not leave until every thing was finished, working and cleaned up. Our Repipe was on Friday of a holiday weekend, so the patch crew did not come until Wednesday. But that gave us an opportunity to check for leaks and there were none. Everything was perfect! The patch crew also showed up on time and worked hard. I definitely recommend Pacific Coast Re-Pipe to take care of your re-pipe.

The entire project went better than I expected. They showed up on time with a crew of experienced workers who were each assigned different areas of responsibility throughout the house. They had to expose the existing pipes, thus holes were made both inside and outside the house to expose all the various plumbing junctions and outlets. It was a mess, I don't think it is possible to do such a project without making a mess. By the end of the day, the entire installation had been completed and the water was turned back on. This part of the project took place on a Tuesday. Wednesday had been set aside for City inspector(s) to do their part. "Barbara", a member of the office staff at Pacific Coast, notified me at the end of the day to tell me that she verified with the city that our home was on the inspection list for Wednesday. As you may have guessed at this point, the City inspector failed to show up. I was not surprised, as this is a common practice of the City of Garden Grove. Additionally, Thursday was the 4th of July and the City is closed on Fridays. Needless to say, we were rescheduled for Monday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Just another wasted day. At the end of the day, I called "Barbara" of Pacific Coast to tell her the inspector failed to show up. She called the city and was told it had received a final and was signed off. I told Barbara that that was impossible, because the posted permit had not been signed off. So, after another call to the city, they assured us that the repipe had been signed off. I dwell on this inspection process to show that Pacific Coast was flexible and able to adjust their schedules to get the job done. On tuesday, a second crew from Pacific Coast arrived and spent the entire day patching all the interior and exterior holes in the walls. They were very professional and paid close attention to detail. We were completely satisfied with Pacific Coast Copper Repipe and highly recommend their services to anyone who is considering having their home repiped.

The initial consultation and estimate went very nicely. Douglas Adair came to our home and went over all the details and answered all of our questions. The work proceeded as scheduled and crew came in at 9:00 AM and had the new piping installed by 3:15 in the afternoon. The workers were personable and conscientious. They were happy to make adjustments for us and did an excellent job. The drywall and stucco repairs were done following inspection and were completed in one day. The repairs were done in a professional manner and after repainting, my home looks as good or better than before the repipe. The whole experience was better than expected and I would highly recommend Pacific Coast Copper Repipe to anyone repiping their home.

The estimate and visit went very well. However, I had received two other reviews. One I flatly refused as it was twice the quotes I received from Pacific Coast and one other company. I had decided to go with another company as opposed to Pacific Coast only because of coast. Both Pacific Coast and the other company provided the same detailed professional estimate yet the other company's cost was significantly lower for me to go with them. I will most definitely recommend Pacific Coast to my friends if asked.
Description of Work: I called Pacific Coast Repipe (one of three estimates i received) to obtain an estimate for repiping my house. Doug came and provided a very detailed description of what would be required to take care I Of what needed to be done. He was extremely professional and knowledgable. The information he provided to me appeared to be up front and honest. He offered me two choices of repiping to choose from.

EXCELLENT service!!!! The repiping crew arrived on time, got to work immediately. We have a 2 story home, and the work was finished by 4:00 p.m. the same day. The workers cleaned everything up, you wouldn't even know they had been here, except for the holes in our walls. The building inspector came the next day, and didn't like a few things about the new water heater, so we contacted Barbara (an angel), and someone was out that afternoon to fix what the inspector didn't like. The inspector returned the next day, approved everything - said that the crew did an excellent job, he was very impressed! The patchers came in that afternoon, patched almost everything (they missed a few small holes, which were completed a few days later, no problem). Once we paint over the patching, you won't even know that there were ever any holes. Even our outside was patched exactly to match the pattern of our stucco. Amazing! ALL of these guys are HARD workers, very professional, friendly, and AWESOME. We passed final inspection with flying colors!

The quote process was very professional. All the options were discussed prior to signing the contract. Mario and his crew arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently and spend 8 hours start to finish (including a lunch break!) They took care to choose the route for the pipe that was the least destructive to our walls. Although we had expected massive destruction and lots of holes in our ceilings, the damage is minimal. They left very little grime behind and even made sure the inside of cupboards were clean after installing shutoff valves. The city inspector praised their work,. We had quotes from four other contracts and everyone was pretty much in the same price range; however, everyone else had plans that included a trench cut in the ceiling of our family room or huge holes the entire length of one wall. Pacific took a look at it and said "no, we'll just run the pipes in the attic space to eliminate all those holes." Pretty amazing experience -- so much less painful than we expected. We would definitely recommend these guys. Update: This is an add-on to a review already submitted for Pacific Repipe. We had our townhouse completely repiped with PEX last month and were very pleased with the service. After the job was completed, however, there were a couple of small issues that needed attention. Pacific promptly sent out a technician and corrected the problems. Can't say enough about their customer service and professionalism. They really do stand behind their work!

Repiping a house is a traumatic experience with the workers cutting holes in walls and creating a mess, but the work went as painless as could be expected. The crew got their early. The house was repiped in one day. The quality of the work was good. The inspector came out the next day and gave his approval to the job done. The third day another crew came and patched up and textured the walls. Again the quality of work repairing the walls was good. Everything was done as promised in the time frame specified by the contractor. There were a few minor things that I thought weren't done the way they should have been and the crew quickly fixed them. They put drop cloths to contain the mess created by cutting holes in the walls and on the areas where they were walking. The crew cleaned up 95% of the mess, which I thought was good. All I was left with was minor cleanup, like wet mopping floor and dusting. All phone calls regarding questions and changes to the work being done were returned promptly, and I found them easy to work with. And the price was the cheapest of the five quotes that I got. I would recommend them for repiping any house.

We had a hot water slab leak. About 18 months ago we had a pinhole leak that caused $ 20,000 insured damage. We decided to not risk another loss. Pacific Coast promptly responded to our request for an estimate and gave us an quote before they left our home. Based on Angie's List reviews and our interfacing with their rep we decided to contract with Pacific Coast. The plumbers on the job were outstanding. They obviously had done this repair many times. They frequently consulted with us during the course of the repair and tried to accommodate us with changes to satisfy our needs. They started the repiping on our 2 story 3 bathroom at 8:00AM and were finished by 4:00PM the same day. Bottom line: we are very satisfied with the service they provided.

Doug came right on time for the arranged time for our estimate. We decided as soon as he left if his price was within a reasonable range of the other prices we had gotten we would go with PCCR as we felt so comfortable with him and how he explained what would be done while he walked through the house. There were about 7 guys here the day of the repipe, they were all very polite and professional at all times. They were finished by 4:00 that first day and cleaned up all of the mess before they left. The two guys that did the dry wall patching were true craftsman, and proud of the work they did -- no sanding, which decreased the amount of dust. The texture on both the dry wall and the stucco matched perfectly, you could hardly even notice the repair before it was painted and not at all after painting, they worked for 14 hours and stayed until it was finished so that we could get our house back to normal. Even the city inspector said they did an outstanding job and he was very impressed with the quality of workmanship. Barbara in the office was great, she communicated with us through the whole process as to when everyone would be here and when the city inspector would be coming. We would highly recommend Pacific Coast Copper Repipe to anyone as they were true professionals, and we are extremely happy with their service.
Description of Work: We had a slab leak, so rather than just reroute that line we decided to repipe. We got three estimates, but felt the most comfortable with Doug at the time of the estimate. He is the owner, a plumber and not just a salesman as another company had sent. His estimate was competitive. We decided to go with copper rather than PEX.

Doug, the owner, was very flexible in scheduling a time to come over and give me an estimate. We were able to arrange a time early Tuesday morning before I headed to work. Doug was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. He sent me the bid via email later in the day. I called on Wednesday and let them know that I selected them for my repipe and was hoping to get going as soon as possible. They were able to pull the permit that day and get started first thing Thursday morning. The installation went fairly smoothly and the water was turned back on Thursday afternoon. The inspector came Friday and said everything looked good. The patcher came out the following Monday to patch the holes that were cut in the walls during the repipe. He arrived a bit late (I had to call the office and find out where he was), but he did an excellent job in patching our plaster walls leaving them looking better than they looked prior to the repipe.
Description of Work: Performed a copper repipe of a single story 1.5 bath house with crawl space. The job included pulling the city permit, tying into the existing copper main, installing copper piping with insulation on the exposed hot water pipes, installing ball valves on the main, hot water heater, and irrigation tie-in, replacing all the inside valves with quarter turn shut-offs, and patching the walls.

Checked numerous references before selecting them. Owner, Doug Adair, did the estimate. Crew arrives promptly at 8 am. Work completed by 5:30 pm. Foeman David is great. These people know exactly what they are doing. they schedule the building inspector which requires three inspections in my city: rough plumbing, lath and wire, final stucco. After first inspection patch crew patches and textures drywall. All work is neat and clean. Barb in office is friendly and helpful. They installed new shower and bathtub valves at no extra charge. Doug gave me 100 pages of references. Highly recommend company.

The team of workers arrived on time and set about figuring the best and least invasive way to re-pipe our home. The foreman for the job, Che, was excellent at answering questions and getting right to work. All of the men on the job were very professional. They started the job about 9 a.m. and were finished around 5:30 with the re-piping. Considering that there were close to 50 holes the dust wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. They do cover up quite a bit of area with plastic, but with a job this size you can't cover everything. The city inspector came the next day and approved all of the work that had been done. The drywallers arrived on time the next day and worked from 8 or 8:30 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. A long day but they had a good attitude the whole time and then we were ready for the 2nd inspection. I had to work the next day so the inspection was set for Friday a.m. The inspector arrived and approved the outside hose bib plugging (has to do with outer fire wall regulations.) One helpful hint the inspector gave me was that we would need to have smoke alarms in all bedrooms and a smoke/carbon monoxide alarm in the hallway in order to pass the final inspection. Apparently, new laws require any job over $1,000 to have the inspector check not only the work that was done but for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. I have the alarms and need to install them before I call for final inspection. I have only positive things to say about this company. They do what they say they are going to do and do it with a professionalism that exceeded my expectations. Just as an aside, I gave a "B' on cost because everything these days seems too expensive but Pacific Coast was very competitive with other bids I received.
Description of Work: We had our entire house re-piped. We have 3 baths, laundry with sink and the kitchen to be re-piped. After the re-piping the company drywalled the holes and textured.

Description of Work: This project was done to perfection!! From the first phone call to the last, Pacific Copper Repipe went above and beyond what was expected!! When I first called for an estimate, Doug, one of the owners came promptly to inspect the job and spent a lot of time answering our of our concerns. What was so wonderful is that they were able to do the job of repiping in one day with minimal disruption to our life. They pulled the permits; the job was inspected and then the drywall crew came to do an excellent job of drywalling; the walls were perfectly ready for painting. Everyone we dealt with, from Barbara in the office, to the owners Patrick and Doug, to the great foreman, Mario, and his crew, Ismael, Jason, Fabian and Sandro, were excellent!!!

The repipe experience was great. They completed the repiping in ONE DAY. The water went off at 8 AM and it was back on at 6 PM the same day. WOW, did they earn their money. Our home is 3,850 square feet in size and is two story. After the repipe, there were about 50 drywall holes averaging 1 ft square. The city inspector came the next day and said they did a good job. The following day, the crew returned and patched all of the drywall, and applied plaster. I had another contractor come and texture coat and paint. Now everything is back to normal, and we have more water flow than before. I am very pleased with the work that Pacific Coast Copper Repipe did.

Two minor issues included a wallboard cut out in the bathroom that was overlooked during patching and later patched, and minor heat damage to the front door casing trim, which was not addressed.
Description of Work: Pacific Copper re-pipe installed overhead plumbing in 3 days and patched interior and exterior walls as advertised with only 2 minor issues and no major incidents. In our case the price included inspection, installation of a 40 gallon gas water heater and copper plumbing for a future water softening system.

I hired Doug Adair and Pacific Coast Copper Repipe because I felt like, of all the companies we had out to give quotes (there were four) he paid the most attention to what we needed, took our concerns seriously, and answered questions thoroughly. He even crawled under our front hedge to take a look at the existing pipe. When he also sent a very reasonable quote, the choice was easy. Overall we're extremely pleased with the work. The repipe did exactly what is was supposed to do - we have great water pressure, no more brown water, and a super-efficient new water heater. The job was done very well overall. The interior finishing elements were done with an awareness of appearance as well as function - small, easy to turn shutoffs for the washer supply lines, recessed shutoff for the refrigerator supply line. They initially ran the pipe into the house very high to allow for a hose spigot, but we didn't need one there since there's already a more accessible one at the corner of the house. They were very gracious about lowering the pipe so that it went in about a foot off the ground. This will be much easier for us to landscape around when we remove the hedge (which we plan to do). Barbara, the office manager, was great with scheduling and making sure all the paper work was complete. She even called to check in on the day the inspector was supposed to come by because it was getting late. When I told her he hadn't arrived yet, she called the city to make sure he was on his way and called me back to let me know. Great customer service! The inspection went really well, and the inspector even mentioned that he was impressed with the quality of the work and with how they had managed one of the trickier parts of the job. The patch crew did a thorough and very conscientious job. The stucco patches look amazing - they matched the existing stucco extremely well. The interior patches were also very good. My husband did a little cleanup work on a couple of them, sanded them once they were dry and we were able to paint right away. My husband is super fussy about patching and is very good at it himself, so for many people the patch job as it was would have been just fine. The only issue we've had since the repipe is that one of our sprinkler pipes sprung a leak near where they put in the new shutoff. It looks like it may have been nicked by a shovel. These pipes are very old and corroded, so I'm not surprised by this as I don't think it would have taken much force to damage them. We're going to patch it up as best we can for now since we plan to replace the whole system when we landscape the front yard. I would definitely hire Pacific Coast Copper Repipe again. The entire crew was prompt, courteous, and got right down to work. Overall we are extremely happy with the job they did. Water pressure is wonderful!
Description of Work: Pacific Coast Copper Repipe did a full repipe of our house, ran new copper pipe in from the street, bored under the driveway to run the pipe to the house, added shutoffs to our sprinkler system, and then filled the trench, patched the interior walls and exterior stucco.

Our house is only twenty years old but we recently had our fourth slab leak. The first three were cheap and easy bypasses, but the last one required a more complicated bypass so we decided to do the complete copper re-pipe. We met with three repipe specialist companies. All three companies had their salesmen come by and do a walkthrough before they developed a bid. All three were good, but the other two companies were vague about the details of the re-pipe. They said the crew chief would decide on the day of the job. The three bids were all about the same. The Pacific Coast Copper Repipe salesman (a knowledgeable plumber in his own right) was the only one that volunteered to have the actual crew foreman come to our house to plan the specifics of the repipe. (Our house was a challenge because our tiny partial attic didn't appear to allow the usual method of accessing each location of the house via the attic.) When Chi, the crew foreman, came to evaluate our job I was immediately impressed. He was professional, energetic, personable, and smart! He crawled into our little crawl space attic all the way to where it appeared to end and then disappeared on his belly like a snake through an opening about a foot high in order to discover an adjoining crawl space that we never knew existed. After exploring that crawl space and it's connections, he spent quite a while inspecting all the particulars of the job. He asked about our preferences when there were choices to be made and then he came up with a detailed plan for the re-pipe. It was by far the best plan that we had heard so we hired them. The crew of six arrived right on time (Chi was actually about a half hour early). They were a great crew. I can't say enough about how good this crew was. They worked together well, each one of them was very respectful of the house, they worked hard and with pride. I was very impressed with how each crew member solved the challenges of their assignment. Each crew member put a lot of thought into how to achieve the best result with the least amount of destruction. I hovered a lot and they were very tolerant of that and answered all my questions intelligently and with patience. The re-pipe was finished in one day (about twelve hours). They cleaned up after themselves very well and everything worked perfectly. Chi contacted us the next day to make sure that everything was as we wanted it. The patching guys (two of them) came a couple of days later and did a great job as well. In fact, we decided not to repaint because they did such a good job (our walls were white to begin with). I would definitely hire this company again.
