Overall, I am very satisfied with the services provided. My only complaint is that when installing the wood trim on the entire side of the door the technician used silicon filler at random spots along the trim, which made it impossible to prime and paint it. We had discussed in advance that my plan was to paint the trim and it was for this reason that we agreed to use wood for the trim although the actual door is a vinyl frame.

Called for quotes from 3 services. Metropolitan came in with the lowest quote and the salesman was very polite. fast and efficient. He took measurements and gave a quote on the spot and a time frame for the manufacturing and installation. On installation day, the same crew that installs all jobs showed up and started working. The job was completed in 2 days with 7 new windows and 2 sliding windows. They worked very clean and fast and disposed of the old windows. I also removed a large mirror from a bathroom and asked if they could dispose of that. It was no problem. The windows were all double paned with gas inside. The price was great!! Our neighbors saw the results and used this company for 2 more jobs for all their windows.$4500

This was a deal offered through Angie's List, three vinyl-framed windows for $1,000. The young company president, Gary Kopel, was a good salesman. He made two visits to the house to show samples, show literature and take measurements. It was one year from the time that we purchased the work on Angie's List until the time we had the framing ready for this contractor. The homeowner obtained the required building permit and had the framing inspected before the windows were installed. During his two visits to measure the openings in the framing, the company president did not notice or failed to mention that some of the framing was deficient. (Certain required outer studs were not present or did not run uninterrupted up to the top plate, and certain required trimmers above the window header were not present.) The City Inspector informed the homeowner of these problems some days before the window installation, and the homeowner corrected the problems in the weeks following the installation of the windows. Those corrections were not in the scope of the contract. The company president was unfamiliar with relevant building code provisions about how much clapboard to remove around each window and the amount of waterproofing paper to leave visible for the City Inspector, but he did get that information for us from a colleague. The three workmen arrived approximately 40 minutes late. Basically, each of the three workmen installed one window. The work was finished in less than an hour. The standard of workmanship was acceptable but not excellent. The workmen did not use a level or shims; they simply assumed the framing was level and square and went ahead with the installation. Consequently, in a few spots the window ledges are a little wavy or out of level. The workmen had to cut away some of the craft paper that the homeowner had installed. They left it where it fell. They did not sweep up after themselves; they also left a number of fallen staples. Their cleaning of the new windows fell a little short of expectations. One mentioned that he was going home for the day after this job. That was at around 2:30 p.m. In short, the workmen lacked pride of workmanship. Had each spent another seven minutes to put a level on the framing and shim, each window would now be perfectly level. We would not have these workmen on the property again. The company president was not present to supervise the installation and did not follow up about it afterwards. The company's email box was full several days after the work was completed.

"Thank you for your review. We always look forward to reviews, but this one has several areas that need to be clarified. The customers bought a $999 3 basic windows Angieslist deal a year ago and we honored the deal one year later. At our two meetings before the contract, the one homeowner mentioned that he would be framing the 3 holes to code and that he was an experienced carpenter. He mentioned he was working with the city to ensure code and therefore I did not interject any advise to how it should be framed. We made an exception to allow him to do this work that we now regret doing to help him keep the cost down. After repeated reschedules for the work from the homeowners, they emailed and called one day insisting on an immediate install date. My office worked the schedule and got them an install the following afternoon. Because our first job that day took an extra 30 minutes, we called the customer and informed him we would be a little late. Once the work was completed, I talked to one of the homeowners and he was happy with the windows and the work. I am most upset that despite the fact that before the job we talked via email and my cell more than 30 times, this is the first time since May that I or my office have heard that the job was anything but 100% correct. Since the installation, we noticed that the new windows were showing signs of staining. The company did note that on occasion some of the windows from their manufacturer would break down and leak a brownish residue between the panes of the window. We called almost a dozen them regarding this and have only gotten four replies. Their voice-mail is now full so we can't leave new messages.
The main contact person has shoveled us off to other representatives. Gary was supposed to contact us Monday, the 4th. We got a message stating that he had gone out of town and wouldn't be able to keep the appointment, but we were to contact Jose who could handle the issue. He has been hot and cold on responding. Initially he was very responsive but that has fallen off. My wife spoke Scott, who was very rude and kept asking the same questions very loudly. We have now had three different contacts within the company and have yet to see any resolution.
We have tried everything that we can, still to no avail.
The installation itself went fairly well, though with the deterioration of the windows and the company's subsequent lack of follow the experience as turned out very negative in my mind.
My wife called Green World Windows, who is the supplier for Metropolitan and lodged a complaint with them as well. We have started the Complaint Resolution Process with Angie's List as well and hope that we can resolve the problem this way. The supplier told us that if nothing else they could replace the windows, but we would still have to pay labor on the installation.

"I am sorry for any confusion as I went out of town for 2 weeks which is not normal for me, but am your normal contact and will be back In 2 days. My office has been handling everything and unfortunately while talking to 2 peoplle, they were confused that the other was handling this. When I get back, I will come look at them and ensure you get new glass replacement for any effected glass as it sounds like your windows are fine but that the glass pack might have had a failure. It is not normal for glass to brown, but is fully covered by the manufacturer's lifetime warranty for parts and our lifetime warranty for any labor necessary, therefore this will be completed free of charge and as rapidly as I can get done. Please email me directly at [email protected] with when you are available next week and your best contact info and I will call you back Sunday to schedule my visit. In addition, though Greenworld is a respected company, we no longer use them for new Angie's List customers as the windows have had a higher than usual number of defects and slow response time to services, which they always fix. We stand behind all work we do new and old and will cover any work necessary 100 percent. Our other window vendor who has been our manufacturer for the past 15 years does not have these problems and we rarely have this lapse of communication we had with you while I was gone. He called and advised the windows would be ready and asked for an date to install them. I told him I had the Friday Feb 28th off. On Thursday I called and confirmed appointment. And since the weather was suppose to rain. He advised that if he got up and checked the weather and it was raining or would rain. They wouldn't be down. He called about 9 AM and advised that as it was raining. It wasn't a day to install windows. I told him I'll have to check my schedule and get back to him. I checked and called back and told him I had either Sat the 8th or 15th. He picked the 15th which I was okay with. He said the guys would be down at 8 AM. On Sat they arrived about 7:45 AM. Placed a moving blanket down on the carpet at the front door. They started on the first window. Putting down a sheet over the ground in the area of the window. 3 guys. They were nice polite and professional. Got right to work. They even repositioned the blinds holders so the blinds I have would work with the new windows.

They were good. They were the most reasonable. When he first came, he was very good. The screen door that he installed was broken so we had to wait for the manufacturer to come out and that took a little bit of time but he came out. The only problem that we had with them is that it took a while for us to get our invoice from them. Everything else was really good. They were the most reasonably priced.

The whole process went great. Gary came out in mid-March to go over the deal that I had purchased, show me the windows he would be installing, discuss the process and answer any questions I had. When he came out, I had him quote me for all of the windows in the house, not just the ones covered by the promotion. His prices were very good, even better than what I would pay for just the windows at Home Depot. I signed the contract and had a crew at my house a few weeks later. They replaced a total of 7 windows and a sliding glass door in one day. The installers were very good and left the house very clean. They did a thorough job and stayed later than I thought they would to get the job done. Overall, I am very happy.

Perry and his crew were fabulous. They arrived about 10.15 am, later than anticipated, but they had called me en route to tell me they were in heavy traffic. You could tell they had been working together for a long time, Perry for 15 years installing windows. They were efficient and speedy and cleaned up very well. They were careful removing drapes and accent pieces around the windows. They reviewed with me each window and what I expected. Blinds, wall hangings, etc., were replaced exactly. They had completed the job by 3:15 pm the same day. I had to call them to come back to adjust a window lock and that was no problem and has been completed.

We had a history of very bad experiences with salesman from other window companies in the past. Pushy, manipulative, hard-sell approaches... it felt like someone was trying to bully us into getting work done on our own house, rather than earning our trust to come into our home and take our money.
We bought two Angie's List deals for three windows installed, and I was bracing myself for the salesman to come in and try to sell me upgrades, or additional windows (we need them, but don't have the budget for it at this time). Nothing of the sort happened. The representative came, took measurements, and arranged for an installation date.
The day of the installation the team came on time. They prepared all areas (three bedrooms) with tarps. They were friendly, very professional, and were respectful of of the fact that they were in our home. The work was done quickly, neatly, and it looked beautiful! They cleaned up after themselves and we were very happy with the results. The windows look great and work perfectly. When we are ready to have the rest of our windows done (either all at once or a few at a time) we know exactly who to call. These people understand that they have to earn your trust, and your money. They conduct themselves with professionalism and integrity.

Gary came out to give us an estimate on the windows. He was our third estimate for window replacements. He was very informative and gave us a fair price based on the quality of the product. We weren't looking for the top of the line windows so it didn't really matter to us that the windows were hard to open and close. The installation went well and the installation guys were great. They even cleaned up after themselves!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Gary, the owner, came out took all the measurements and quoted a price. He estimated about 3 weeks for the windows to be made. When they were delivered to Metropolitan, we arranged an installation date. An experienced 4-man crew arrived on time and worked very efficiently. They were friendly, courteous, cleaned up and vacuumed everything. They also removed all of the old windows.
I give Metropolitan an A+. I have no hesitation in recommending them to everyone.

Gary showed up on time for our appointment. He showed us a range of window products that we could have - explaining the pros and cons of each one. After we selected what we wanted, he took measurements. 3 weeks later, as promised, he removed the old windows and installed the new ones -- efficiently and unobtrusively, completely cleaning up after the installation. I contacted Metropolitan requesting a quote since 2 of my windows were over the size for the special 5 window installation. I received an email quote later that day. The measurement and final quote appointment was promptly scheduled. I found the representative friendly and professional. Gary was wonderful to work with. We have a giant patio door, he said that actually getting an OXXO format would be slightly less expensive than one sliding door. We live in a condo and there is absolutely no place for a dog door. We needed to get a dog door through the window and a lot of other companies were unable to accommodate this request, but Gary was able to do this
