Mark came out and was very professional and punctual. We ended up going w/ a lower bid, but really appreciated all the time and effort Mark gave us, even as the parameters of the work were changed mid stream, and his bid adjustments were timely and competitive.

I have nothing to say other than if you are on the market for a new roof Hoyt is a superb company. The crew works with military precision. They are punctual, experienced, fast, detailed and clean. Chuck was clear, very knowledgeable and informative. He called me ahead of time to inform me of all the steps and called me every time a problem occurred. I always felt comfortable and assured during the time Hoyt was working at my home. My new roof is beautiful and my husband and I are extremely happy. Thank you Chuck.

Chuck gave us a solid bid. Explained the process better than all the other bids and they offer a 10 year workmanship warranty while almost others offered a 5-7 year. The quote was for 13,900. Bid was better than the others and for a product the roof said was better than the torch down called TPO. Workmanship, clean-up, professionalism etc were great. The only reason for the B grade was that there were some change orders that were done without signature that added to the cost by about $5,000. They may have/probably been needed but all the other change orders Ive dealt with in the past with other contractors have involved the contractor showing me the issue, giving me a price and then having us sign off on it. That didn't happen on a few of them. We were given the change order after the work was completed, the issue was demoed, thus no idea if they were needed or not. I would usually fight it more than I did but the high reviews on Angie's list provided me with a better sense of trust than I usually give my contractors and I paid it. So far I couldn't be more happy with the workmanship of the install. I feel pretty confident that the roof will last a very long time.

Reasonably well. Had some minor issues crop up that are probably typical of this type of job. Company responded promptly.

I've been very happy with this company, they were the first company to come out. They found all the issues on my past leaks. I had this issue for 10 years and this company fixed it. I was very pleased with the company.

A+ WORK and satisfaction. After watching Hoyt re-roof my neighbor's home, I was very impressed with the professional roofing service approach Hoyt Roofs, Inc. used in completing that roofing job. Having already received 7 bids from other roofers in June, I met and received a quote from Chuck. Totally knowledgeable in roofing, he explained Hoyt's complete approach to roofing. Everything and every crew member is Hoyt's in-house people and equipment. Special note is that DAILY they clean up everything. The tear down began with Santos with his crew using only Hoyt trucks and employees; then Andrus and his crew replaced and repaired wood rot, termite damage, and plywood that was delivered and stacked neatly in my driveway; then Andrus and Cesar started and completed the re-roofing of our house explaining each step in their process; then Kevin reviewed their work and ordered skylight replacements; and then the clean up crew came in for final remove and clean up leaving my driveway, patios, and lawn at our house basically spotless. The re-roofing started on Monday and was completed on Friday. I spoke to the owner Brian Hoyt and expressed my thoughts on how organized and well run his teams of employees worked. Brian added that these employees have been with him for over 15 years. I would recommend Hoyt Roofs, Inc. in a heart beat. As for the 7 other companies, I found most subbed out their teardown and clean up and three bids added plywood as extra. I felt one company's bid ($10k more) was based on my zip code and house location . As for Hoyt's pricing, they were fair and honest, up front on everything, and I had an advantage of watching their re-roofing team approach and their process on my neighbor's home before hiring them. They told me what they'd do and they completed everything that they said. No surprises on repairs since I knew by my own inspections that I needed a lot of repair work (house built in 1970 and block from beach). Fair, honest, and completely professional. I've already recommend them to friends and would suggest contacting them for a fair and honest bid. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. PS, as a former inspector with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, I learned to do my research prior to signing any 'bid' contracts. I recommend researching your project thoroughly too. It makes life easier for you and your wallet.

Needed minor roof repair to my home. Sent a messages to three service providers requesting an estimate or appraisal via the Angie's List website. This provider never responded and did not contact me.

Started on a Friday, showed up on time to strip wood. Could not get inspection so returned on Monday and Tuesday to finish. A surprise heavy rainstorm started on Friday night and lasted throughout the weekend. The tarp used to cover roof leaked over kitchen (oops). The completely repaired the damage to better than before condition on Monday and Tuesday. No hassles, Hoyte immediately took responsibility. Great people. Great job.

The gentleman that came out to do the inspection and estimate was wonderful. Efficient, professional and knowledgeable. He showed me photos of the area that needed to be repaired and explained exactly what needed to be done. He also recommended I think about doing a "tune up" to the overall roof... I thought it was an excellent suggestion. I told him immediately that I wanted them to do the work. I will need a new roof sometime in the next five years and I thought this was a great way to try out their services. It's been a little over a week and I hadn't heard back from them. I called on Saturday (turns out they aren't in the office) and left a message asking if they were going to call, do the work...? I called again this morning (Monday, 5 October) and got a young woman on the line. I told her I had called on Saturday, but couldn't reach anyone... and had left a message. Her response, "we don't work on Saturdays." So I went through my details/questions: an estimator was out, thougth I would get an estimate in writing, hadn't heard from anyone, were they going to take the job... Her first response was a very snippy, "We don't do estimates in writing. We bill time and materials; you would have been told that when the estimator was there. If you want that we just can't help you. And according to my records the work has been scheduled" I was astonished! I replied that I knew they did time and materials and if they didn't put anything in writing, that was fine. But how could they schedule my repair without calling me and finding out if that day worked. She asked if she could put me on hold while she checked with her supervisor. She came back on the line (several minutes later) and told me that something must have happened that the work wasn't performed on the date in their computer... all of this in the MOST snippy and condescending tone imaginable. I jumped in and said, "wait - I thought about this while you had me on hold. The 25th was the day they came out to do the estimate.. not the day the..." Before I could finish she broke in and said, "I don't appreciate your yelling at me. I won't listen to customers who yell at me and if you don't stop I will hang up on you." What? I replied to her, "you what? Never in my life have I had someone..." boom. She hung up! Let me add that I was calling from the built in Bluetooth in my car. And I have a naturally loud voice. But I was not yelling. I called back and explained that to her. I told her that I was astonished that someone in customer service would ever react as she did. Boom... she hung up again. I called back and asked to speak with her supervisor. She hung up. So... my guess is that Hoyt has more business than they can handle (not surprising as well all brace ourselves for an El Nino deluge). I am hoping that the next roofing company I call from Angie's list has a bit better customer service. I really liked the man who cam out to do the estimate. I was ready to start work immediately. But that young woman... wow.

This job was done in RECORD time. They literally arrived on the day promised, had a huge dumpster, removed entire old roof and were gone in less than 2 hours. Not even one stray nail left behind either as the HUGE crew was extremely vigilant and conscientious every step of the way in cleaning up. Installed new roof over next week, all went smoothly despite rain extending things a few days. Absolutely NO problems at all. Roof is beautiful and perfect!!! They left a supply of extra roof tiles in case they are needed in the future. ONLY issue we had was heavy rain and wind which blew water into the attic thru a vent which had absolutely nothing TO DO WITH THEIR WORK, but they still came out and helped us solve the problem. Extremely responsive and helpful. We have consistently referred anyone asking about roofing companies to Hoyt and will continue to do so because our experience was MORE than exceptional every step of the way. Their prices are unbelievably good for top quality work and they absolutely deliver what they promise and what you are paying for.

As a real estate broker, I turn to Angies List to interview tradespersons to assist my clients. Chuck of Hoyts Roofs took the time to review my client's home inspection report and provided an estimate that likely will save the transaction and allow the buyer piece of mind to proceed with the purchase of this home. The wasn't another company that was willing to give me the time of day for a minor repair. Chuck's responsiveness, honesty and pricing will give me the confidence to refer Hoyts Roofs to many other clients and real esate professionals.

Chuck arrived promptly for roof evaluation/estimate. He was very professional albeit proud and vocal about the quality of his company, their methods and what Hoyt Roofing could do for me! His presentation was very thorough and I was very impressed with the detail he presented. The Hoyt crew that did my work was headed by Sebastian and aided by two other hard workers! Once the large team of workers did the "tear off" - Sebastian and his crew took over and spent the next 3 1/2 days completing the new roof installation. Meticulous cleanup after each day's work was appreciated and they worked with my termite company to coordinate replacing termite damaged wood and doing a thorough termite treatment while the roof was open. Sebastian and his team were really top-notch - highly recommended. At the end of the job Chuck came by to collect final payment and give me a revised price for wood replacement/painting - which was lower than the original add-on invoice that I had already agreeded to (work cost was over-estimated!). How cool is that!!! Honesty, integrety and a great new roof!!!

My insurance company said all the roofing cornice and edging had deteriorated and they were going to cancel me if I did not have it replaced. So they did all that. I think they did a really good job cleaning up because they had to pull up all the old edging stuff off. So that worked out pretty good. I think I got 2 bids on that one and they were the lower of the two. So I thought it was fair. I thought the quality was really good. I haven’t had any problems with any of the Angie’s List people I’ve gone through yet so far. They were right here when they said they would be. They were very good with professionalism.

They did a great job. Chuck came out an was very detailed about every step. I was really nervous about doing a roof project but assured me by answering all my questions. They helped me pick the roof material and gave me all the pros and cons for each. They do not use subcontractors at all. The workers were friendly every night they cleaned up. I mean really cleaned up, not one nail left in the yard. My dogs never got out and they are sneaky pups. The price was really good. I checked around all over too. They have been in business for a long time and did my neighbors roof years ago too and he had no problems too. Even when they thought it might rain, they put large heavy duty plastic tarps on the roof. Really, no one wants to do a roof project but if I had to do it again, I would use Hoyt Roofing again.

We've had no problems whatsoever. They did clean up after themselves. They were prompt and finished the job quickly and did an excellent job.

In talking with him, he explained everything thorough and brought samples for me to see. Before I joined Angie's List, I couldn't get anyone to bring me samples for me to see for their work.

They were here on time every day and did a great job of protecting the area outside of our home during the tear down. The clean up at the end of each day was done well. They were not good about keeping the gates from the backyard closed or checking before they left each day. We had to keep a very close eye on our dogs and check the gates constantly. They were open every night we checked after they roofers had left. We got five bids and the Hoyt pricing was right in the middle. I would use them again.

We are well pleased with the work that was performed by Hoyt (waiting until after some recent rain storms to post the review). The workmen worked rapidly and carefully and accomplished the activity within the time period discussed (there was delay in starting due to rain...). Each team of workers went to lengths to ensure that the job site was reasonably clean before departing for the day. The replacement roof has met or exceeded all of our expectations. The only area of improvement is a significant one related to poor communication with the client. This started when our original inspection (for an estimate) was not performed at the time indicated due to technical difficulty but we were not informed... During the work process I had very little idea what the status of the job was and when workmen would return (the job took place during the year end holiday period)... We still have not received all of the final paperwork that was promised and yet two six weeks after the job was completed, no one thought of calling to inform us of what is causing the delay (I have always needed to call them). A+ for the work performed and value for money D- for client communication (assuming Hoyt might read this you guys desperately need to improve communication with you clients).
