Carpet Cleaning
$500
Do not call CD Carpet Care for anything.  They engage in the classic and illegal  ?bait and switch? technique in charging for their services. We responded to a flyer put out by CD Carpet Care that had ?Summer Special? rates that said they would clean any five rooms plus 1 additional room for $49.99 (regular price $99). This rate even included no additional charge for carpet protection!  I telephoned CD Carpet Care and confirmed that the rates on the flyer were accurate and still valid.
were accurate and still valid.
I made a date for carpet cleaning and two men from CD CarpetCare showed up on time.  I showed them the flyer when they walked in the door and they agreed to clean three rooms.  When they were half way done, the lead worker pulled out his receipt book and said that our carpets needed "deep cleaning".  I asked him what was the difference since he told me that the carpet in two of the rooms "were in good condition".  He really didn't answer.  The lead worker then told me that the price would not be $49.99 but $690!  If we wanted to them to treat four corners where our cats had urinated, it would cost an additional $290.  I was astonished that CD Carpet Care would demand almost $1,000 to clean 3 rooms, more than 20 times more than the price advertised.  They never did apply the carpet protection
After 3 phone calls to the boss, CD finally reduced the price to $500.  We felt trapped since we had out of town guests coming the next day.  Deep cleaning consisted of spraying and then sucking up more water than usual. The spot treatment consisted of a three squirts from a spray bottle.  For this they demanded an additional $290.  Neither the flyer nor the receipt included and address but CD Carpet Care uses a Chino, California telephone number (909) 927-4633.
CD Carpet Care?s business practices are patently illegal.  The old expression is true, if the deal looks too good to be true, its because it is.
