This service company was dispatched by my home warranty company. They tech was late so I called to find out their ETA. Once I did, the tech contacted me and let me know when he'd be there, later he text with a new ETA. Not a huge deal. Tech arrived, parked wrong direction on street in unmarked truck. The pool pump had low pressure which at the time, the Jandy valve was a possible root cause. When the symptoms, first appeared I replaced the seals and rings in all valves. When working with the Jandy valve body I noticed 2 screws were slightly stripped (not making the tightest connection). After replacing all valve rings/seals, there was no improvement. Of first concern with the tech: The timer/control box's latch had recently broken off and was being kept closed with a small pair of vice grips. The tech wanted to turn the pump on but did not immediately know how to remove the vice grips - he started yanking instead of releasing the grip - I kid you not. I explained the seal/ring replacement and mentioned the stripped screws. He immediately deducted the valve was the root cause of low pressure. I questioned it since the valve had not been touched in the year I've lived here and yet all worked perfectly i.e. the screws had been stripped for a year +. He took off the valve cover, inspected, reseated and no improvement. He then stood on top of the valve assembly, attempting to use his weight to make the tightest connection possible. Still no improvement. Yet, his summary was the Jandy valve was the root cause. He did not inspect any other component. He then reported his findings to the home warranty company; who refused to fix the valve since it was considered ?defective? and also refused to do any further analysis until I fixed the valve. That?s another story altogether. What was the problem with my system? I took the pump motor off and discovered two of the impeller?s veins were jammed with small pebbles. This evening, I looked this company up on the BBB ? their grade is listed as F.
