They're good people, excellent, top-notch. They do a great job for great value. I recommend them to anybody. It was well worth it. Carter is a great guy, he has a great group of people with him. It was the second time I used him. I've got him on my list to call back next year and do the same thing.

I've used Carters on my rental properties for many years. He's been great in getting rid of the junk left by tenants and cleaning up the yards.  The last time I contacted him was to estimate saving a saquaro. He came out promptly and said the job was beyond his scope. I wish the Tree Surgeon had been as honest.

I've used Carter twice now and both times they did a good job. They must be busy because it took a few days to get the estimate and they came out a day after they said they would but that's not a big deal. The pile wasn't in the way of anything. They cleaned up the driveway very nicely. Can't even tell there was a pile of tree limbs there. I'll use them again.

They were great. They've been coming every month since June. The normal price is $150. I haven't compared their prices.

The time and date was set for Wed. at 9am.  Needless to say Wed. 9 arrived and he or his crew did not show. At 9:30 I called Carter and he had me written down for Thurs. which I KNOW I did not schedule because I always work Thursdays and my husband had also heard the making of the schedule.  Carter then ensured me that his crew would arrive by 10am. They did not arrive until 10:45 at which time the foreman of the crew made it known to me that they were "fitting" me in and that they had one more job to do and then would be off for the day. The crew member that trimmed the oleander bush did an EXCELLENT job and was the best guy on the team. The foreman was LOUSY! He cut branches from my large pine tree that I SPECIFICALLY told him not to and then when I went running out to him to tell him to stop, he was talking on the phone to a family member (while using a chain saw) about finances and would not even get off the phone to talk to me! This was VERY upsetting because my pine tree has grown in a great circular manner which makes it a SUPERB tree for climbing. There were small numbs on the tree which created a ladder for all the kids in my family to use... and now it was ruined! The other problem: they DID A HORRIBLE job at cleaning up the mess. No one bothered to pull the dead branches out of the oleander bush. Nor did they trim the small palm trees. I spent two hours and filled two trash-cans full of trimmings from the trees. Lastly, after they left I noticed that they left a HUGE mess in the ally behind the mesquite tree. They just pulled and cut up the branches they wanted for firewood and left a MESS in the ally. OH... not to mention the sunflower seed SHELLS THE FOREMAN LEFT ALL OVER THE BACK BRICK PATIO BEHIND THE POOL.  They are suppose to be cleaning up the mess... not creating one! Carter did offer a full refund which I would like to have... but I am so upset and too angry to even deal with him.  He talked down to me like I was an idiot. He appears to have an anger management issue because as soon as I called him and started to tell him about the experience he became defensive. He never ONCE said he was sorry only that I WAS WRONG and that he has NEVER had this issue before!  He too stated that he was not going to get upset at his foreman because people make mistakes. He pledges to be of Christian faith as it written on his business card and truck but if that is how Christians work I will never hire one again! As an ER nurse at a west side hospital here in Tucson, I see a lot of angry and mean people... he reminded me of one. His workers... all but one were horrible and lazy. The job was not done to our agreement. I should have not paid but I did not want to deal with the foreman because of his lack of caring and poor attitude. Plus I was alone at home with my 3 year old daughter and had 4 men in my backyard... one of which did not seem to care about ANYTHING!  So I tried to deal with Carter and he was just plain angry. So, not only did I deal with an angry Carter I had to deal with an angry husband that could not understand why he had just spent 185.00 for yard work and his wife had to still spend two hours cleaning up... AND spend time nailing boards into the tree to fix the "holes" in the natural made ladder. If I treated my patients the way I was treated by Carter and his foreman, I would have been out of a job 8 years ago! DO NOT HIRE and WOMEN BEWARE!
Response from Carter's Services
"I believe this individual makes it her practice to secure services and then complaint to try and receive a reimbursement, she told me herself that she had complained about another contractor on Angie's List in the past. I choose to let my reputation and otherwise perfect score Angie's List speak for itself."

I am not able to do a lot for myself so their work was greatly needed. Overall, I?m pleased with them but there were a few things that I wasn?t happy with. There were only a few things that I didn?t like but overall they did a fantastic job. When they come out, they do a full service. I thought the price was pretty steep. They charge $100 regardless of what they do which is a lot since we don?t have flowers or trees or anything. I won?t be hiring him to do a monthly service but it was worth it to have them out this time. I have a lot of little garden gnomes and solar lights and they pulled them all out to blow the debris away but they didn?t put them back which disappointed me. It ended up taking two days because the wind was so strong the first day and they didn?t want to blow all of the pine needles on my neighbor?s yard. The second day, I left my son in charge and I wasn?t here to do the final walk through. Carter came in the morning and I never saw him again. He left his crew of four guys in charge; they were very hard working and great. I probably wouldn?t hire them again because of the price and because I think they broke a drip system and didn?t tell me. I thought about calling Carter and having them fix it but I don?t know if they did it or not. They cut the trees back well and they won?t need to be fixed monthly. For the first time, I think the price was fine but they wanted $175 to come back monthly.

Carter met me on a tight schedule on a weekend I was in town. He did not give me the standard three week answer to your job, or pick and choose what types of clean up jobs he would do. With the rain this year a lot of people?s yards are a mess with weeds and a lot of the landscapers are busy. I am usually a good judge of character and I could tell he was a stand up guy. I agreed to do the job and he was able to show up a few days later. It was a big job and he and the crew made the yards look great.

A recent storm uprooted a tree in our yard. I left a message at Carter's number and he returned my call in about 15 minutes. His crew arrived right at the time he stated, and they cleaned up the whole area, even including the twigs.

I called Carter on a Tues. afternoon, he came over within an hour and gave me an estimate. He took $20.00 bucks off the estimate when I told him I found him through Angie's List. He and his crew showed up on time on Thursday to do the work. I had to be away on an appointment, when I got home, I telephoned Carter and he came over right away to pick up the check. I actually added back the $20.00 discount he had given as a reward for a "job well done."

Carter is very easy to work with, very practical and down to earth. He arrived for the estimate on time and was very knowledgeable about plants and landscaping in general. He had very good suggestions for the yard, and didn't try to see how much he could charge me. His crew arrived promptly, worked very hard and did an excellent job. My yard turned out much nicer than I had expected.

The job consisted of removing two rather large debris piles that had accumulated over the years and working around the entire property to remove cactus and other plants as specified. This was a general property clean-up. Due to the size and access issues it was not an easy job. I had other estimates over $3000. The quote was verbal (which made me uncomfortable) but we agreed that he would not exceed $1200 unless authorized. He had difficulty with his crew the first day but returned on the day and time specified for the second day and completed all the work as requested. Due to the nature of the work, I only explained what I wanted and marked certain plants to be removed. Before work he obtained my approval of other plants to be removed and suggested removal of some pack-rat nests. He broke the handle on an old wheel barrow that I did not care about and insisted on repairing it and he did. He was on time both days he indicated. The yard looks great and I will use him again.
