Description of Work: Had HughesNet installed for home use that was suppose to be faster than our old internet service. Had to have the lower modem installed due to satilite location but was still charged the rate for the upper grade modem (79.00) and did not have the speed nor the capability of the upper grade modem and was always loosing connection and using up the daily usage (had 9 case number call ins with complaints). Then when we went to cancel the service we were told that we could change to another program with a credited amount and better download speed. Then they told us that it would not cancel for another 2 weeks. When I told them I wanted it canceled today they told me it would be an additional charge of $15.00 to the already $340.00 early termination fee to cancel today. PLUS I have to find my own boxes to ship their equipment across the US. DO NOT GET HUGHESNET!

 + -1 moreWe were willing to grin & bare the ugly dish out front, but we paid $105 a month for their advanced service, but got worse uploads and even downloads than a standard dial-up. We worked with their hard to understand support people (who barely speak English) for a dozen hours over several weeks. They finally referred us to their level 4 support, only to get someone who was not a tech at all, only doing damage control; telling me there are no guarantees and we have no case. I remained calm, but he refused to let me speak to his superior or give me any contact info other than a mailing address. He would not give me his last name. It was a nightmare. We did some research and found that they use to have fast internet service over a year ago, but it had tanked since then and they have had hundreds of clients complaining about their poor service and no real technical help. I had the charges reversed at my bank and canceling that debit card. It's been over a month and the parts are still here.
Description of Work: We had been using a cable modem for the last 8 years, but we just moved out to the country where there is no cable access, so we contacted Hughes Net, since they did not need a phone line access to upload to the Internet. They had a local contractor do the installation of a pole cemented in the ground in our front yard flowerbed to mount the satellite dish onto with cables strung across the lawn that went up to the outside of the master bedroom and across the carpet to our desk area. They set it up with our computers and tested it to make sure it was working right.
