.My tenant called and said the pool was green. I went to the house to inspect it and could not believe the condition it was in.It had been neglected so long it needed a major overall cleaning. It was totally out of balance and cost me $140 to correct it. By trusting him, (Jeff) and I had not inspected his work. I couldn't believe what it looked like. He had the hose connected by a bunch of rocks because he never took the time to remove the connecting piece that had eroded. Very disappointed in his work. I learned a lesson from this experience.
Description of Work: It's what he did not do. I believe he did not service the pool as he stated.

On the first visit Jeff said we needed a $250 pump rebuild, which we declined for now, as we just moved and have been short of funds. Jeff did a good job initially: pool was very clean, but we haven't been using it much. Every time I've checked for chlorine tabs in the floater it was either empty or low and when I asked Jeff about it he insisted he was using it, which made me suspicious. About a month ago Jeff said the automatic filler valve needed replacing as it was running constantly. I said to go ahead with the repair, as the pool was indeed overfilled. Last weekend when the pump came on in the evening it was making a horrible sucking sound, and on investigation the pool level was so low that every time the pump cycled it completely drained the skimmer basket, sucking air into the system. Jeff had turned off the water to the filler valve at the source, but never replaced the valve, so the pool wasn't being refilled automatically. In talking to the wife (who works from home), she said she hadn't actually seen Jeff in over 2 weeks. This makes sense, since the pool hadn't been filled since he closed the filler valve a month ago. The was (again) no chlorine in the floater. In the interest of full disclosure, the other F review for this company is from a friend, and we were debating on if to get rid of Jeff because of their issues when we had our issues. The combined issues settled it. When my wife called today to fire him he argued about what a good job he'd done for us. We had another pool company out to give a quote today, and the new company said the pump did not need a rebuild and the pool was severely in of chemicals, which confirms that Jeff hadn't been there in weeks. Jeff's diagnosis of the bad filler valve was correct, however.
Description of Work: Referred by a friend to do pool maintenance. Got a quote from and hired the owner of the company, Jeff, for $85/month including chemicals.

First visit he took our vacuum with him because he thought it was broken. Took several days before he brought it back and when he did he called to say that it had cost $40 in parts to fix it that we would owe him. Since he brought it back it has regularly tangled itself up, been seen floating and spewing water from the hose. Turns out that a valve appears to have been damaged (wasn't before he took the vacuum) and is going to cost us $50 to replace. He also backwashed the filter on that first visit and left the valve slightly open, allowing water to run out into the yard (a noticeable amount). The pool was down more than an inch when we noticed and properly closed the valve (it needed to be greased). 8/16 was his first visit; today is 9/1 and the pool is still not clear (although it is blue now). Turns out that he left the vacuum running on just the booster pump for hours at a time (it's supposed to only run when the filter pump is running). All in all this was a miserable, massively negative experience.
Description of Work: Paid to do one month of pool service ($85/month, which is a good price) plus $60 to clear up an algae problem.
