"Dear Member, We appreciate your feedback and always encourage our customers to contact us if they have any concerns, questions or other plumbing needs. We responded to your call back in mid-January 2012 requesting assistance with repairs/issues/understanding of the radiant infloor heating system(s) in your recently purchased home - a recent foreclosure/short sale home in which the bank had winterized the house after the house had been vacant/experienced freezing, resulting in freezing/splitting the circulator pump (and possible other freezing/winterization damage which may not have been apparent due to inability to have system fully on/water on). I spent 2.5 hours with you, thoroughly reviewing, evaluating and explaining your systems to you (two systems: old side of house has open loop radiant heating system functioning off one hot water heater for radiant heat and that side of house’s domestic hot water. New side of house has two hot water heaters, one for close loop radiant heating system and one for new side of house’s domestic hot water.) At your request, I subsequently provided a detailed two page bid for necessary repairs to both radiant heating systems, separated out for the two systems at your request, for your review and consideration. I charged you 1.5 hours at my regular rate, with 1 hour courtesy no charge, no charge for travel time or fuel, for a total bill of $112.50. I am sorry if you felt at all confused with our regular service call rate, and we will continue to make every effort to insure that customers understand our billing policies. In light of the size of the county we serve, the price of gas, and the time and attention we give to any service call and any written bid provided, we have to charge a reasonable fee for our time and expertise. Also, if you sought to do a quick or more limited repair of your system at the time, we would have been more than happy to discuss that further with you and assist you accordingly. However, you asked for a bid to properly repair and update the radiant heating systems in the house you had just purchased, and we provided you with the requested information.
