Jewelry Sales/Design/Repair
AVOID THIS COMPANY FOR JEWELRY REPAIRS!!! Save yourself some heart ache and go to a professional jeweler.
About 7 years ago my husband and I had our original wedding rings reproduced because after 34 years of marriage they were well worn. We kept the original diamonds since even though they weren't large diamonds, they were very high quality and meant a lot to us since they were the only part of our original rings left. I noticed that a prong was snagging clothes so we took it to a local Fred Meyer thinking "it's a minor job". They called a couple of days later saying all of the prongs needed to be built up. Okay, simple enough; do the work. They told me they would call me when it was finished. A week and a half later still no call so we went down there to check on it. The woman at the counter checked to see if it was in. It was there and no call. My eyesight isn't the greatest so when I got home I looked at it under a bright light with my glasses and noticed one of the diamond chips was missing on my wedding band and there was a hole there where it used to be. We immediately went back to the store and showed it to them. No problem, they'll replace it. No problem!??? The diamonds were the only surviving pieces of my original rings. They knew this as I had already explained this. We also had shown them the papers to our rings showing them that these were top quality diamonds and they assured us that is what would go back into the rings. They said they would call us when the rings were done. No phone call again so we went down to pick them up. A few days later I noticed that same hole in my ring again. The diamond was gone! Went immediately back to FM again and they said they would replace it and call me when it was in. They put another diamond in. A week and half later still no call so again we went down to pick it up, We weren't leaving this time until we looked closely at it. The very nice sales lady lent us her jeweler's loop. Their so called "high quality diamond" had a large scratch across the top of it!!! The jeweler was standing there and said if you don't like it I can replace it, it's only a $10 stone. That was it! I had had enough of this place. I walked out holding back the tears. My rings at one time consisted of a quarter carat near perfect stone and 2 near perfect chips so even though my rings aren't ultra valuable, they are worth millions to me in sentimental value of 34 years of a wonderful marriage. Fred Meyer Jewelers should stay out of the repair business. They are HORRIBLE!!! Save yourself the tears!!!
