We just moved to the area and haven;t owned a heat pump in the past. The receptionist was extremely helpful in explaining some of the quirks about heat pumps. We signed up for the yearly service contract. The technician was thorough and very nice.

Travis arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He adjusted the digital thermostat inside and then proceeded to monitor the operation of the compressor outside and then up in the attic to check on the air handler. He also assisted me with questions about the settings on the digital thermostat and replaced the air filter for me. Travis is always professional - answering questions and explaining everything with patience. He is neat and tidy and is careful about cleaning up. I am very pleased with this company and I am so glad I made the switch (after 14 years with another company). I like the consistent excellent service and feel the quality is superior, even though the yearly service plan is $40. less than my previous company. My house is all electric. To avoid huge air conditioning bills in summer, I am on the SRP plan that averages a years bills to determine a monthly payment. I am thrilled that after one year of having the new Trane in operation, my monthly payment has decreased from $125 to $85.00 a month. I credit the expert advise and service that I receive from Air Factor (as well as the Trane!) as significant contributions to my current affordable SRP bills.
Description of Work: I had a fall tune-up for the Trane air/heat unit that was installed by Air Factor in October of 2009. The appointment was coordinated to be convenience with my work schedule. There was no cost for this service call, since it was part of my package when I had the new unit installed. I am so pleased with Air Factor, that my only cost was the renewal of a service contract which includes a thorough spring and fall unit check during 2011.

Air Factor was originally recommended by our next door neighbor (who had his heat pump replaced by them 2 years ago) and we included them as part of our 3 contractor quotes. Their number was a little higher than we expected, and not the cheapest of the 3 quotes, but in the same ball park as everyone else and they had done some general servicing on our unit before. They were really, really nice, very informative and professional and right on time. They follow up on everything they say they will do and have just been great to work with.

Air Factor showed up about 30 minutes early the day of the installation and worked throughout the day dismantling and removing the old units. They covered their paths inside the house with tarps to protect the flooring. The assembled the new units and completed the installation to the existing ducting. Then they ran a series of tests and measurements to make sure that the new unit was operating within specification. The work took about 8 hours to complete and the installers took normal breaks during that time. I spoke with each installer separately with a number of questions and comments on the work being done throughout the installation. Each installer answered my questions quickly and with confidence in their expertise. Upon inspecting the new units, the seals, ducting and operational tests, I was convinced that this company was service oriented and able to stand by their work. Their follow on visit to deliver their final packet of information and other paperwork for rebates and tax incentives was yet another opportunity to discuss how the system was working, and answer any questions we had. Air Factor called us up to schedule their winter tune up inspection, one of two inspections included during the first year of operation. That technician spent plenty of time removing panels, taking measurements, jotting down performance data and forcing the unit to generate heat and A/C. They delivered carbon copies of their findings for our records and answered our questions. It is hard to describe how professional and helpful Air Factor is. This is the type of service that should be the norm, but that is just not the case anymore.
Description of Work: We replaced a split system; external Heat Pump and internal Air Handler (in attic); An Air Factor sales representative showed up on time for the assessment and quote. He was dressed in the company uniform, neat and clean. The assessment was very professional as he climbed into the attic to jot down the existing system information and take measurements. He examined the existing heat pump and noted its information and specifications. Then he began to ask questions about our needs and heating/cooling usage. Based on our discussion, he brought out notebooks with information from various manufacturers and we discussed three options; a good, better and best solutions by various manufacturers. He printed out quotes on a portable printer for us. We settled on a good system setup that was efficient enough to meet the SEER rating we were looking for and that was straightforward to maintain yet not too complex. Then he presented a notebook with example photos of their work and described why they chose their installation methods. The notebook contained copies of the certificates attained by each technician and demonstrated their credentials for working with various manufactures and equipment. Based on the professionalism of the presentation, we had no reason not to expect good service and a quality installation. There was no comparison based on the other companies and quotes received. Note that Air Factor was not the least expensive quote received, but their quote was within reason given the type of installation work they described and their attention to detail.

Tim came out to the house and did a very thorough job of assessing the situation and recommending different options. He was very good about follow-up and answering our questions. We ultimately went with another company because of some additional things they offered and a better price, but we would have felt comfortable using Air Factor.

Travis showed up and did a complete diagnosis of the problem. He ordered the parts on Sunday and was out early Monday morning to finish the job. He was very professional and extremely courteous. I would definitely call Air Factor again without hesitation. Cody & Cheryl Brown Chandler, AZ
Description of Work: After coming home on Friday and finding the house at 87 degrees and the AC not working, I called Childs AC Heating that we had previously dealt with. We didn't expect anything to be done since it was 7pm at night. I told the guy to come back first thing in the morning on Saturday. After getting home at 4pm on Saturday, the house was at 97 degrees, dogs panting, and no AC guy. Called again, the guy shows up 2 hours later with no ladder, wife & kids sitting in the car, wearing flip flops, and asking me if I had any spare fuses. Tells me my control board is bad and he can't get parts until Monday. My wife said to try Angie's List that she saw on TV. I joked with her and asked if thats Craig's sister. I looked at the website and decided that I didn't want to pay to join. I would wait since I already had someone out to look at it. The next morning (Sunday) it was the hottest day in 30 years, I bit the bullet and paid for a 30 day membership which the signup fee was waived. Travis from Air Factor called me back in less than 30 minutes. I had accepted that it was Sunday morning and nothing was going to happen until Monday. Travis told me he could be at my house in 1 hour and that there was no extra charge for weekends or after hours.

We were calling them for the second time. They came recommended to us. We used a coupon and so half the work was done for free. They showed up on time and performed good work. It was hassle free. They had someone available the same day. He showed up when he said he would. He explained the repair thoroughly and got it done promptly. They were incredible. I didn?t get really competitive quotes, so I don?t know whether their pricing was good or not. Our experience with them was great.

We could not have asked for better, more prompt service. We called at approximately 4:15 p.m. that day requesting a service appointment. A technician arrived at our house about 1 hour later, and the unit was repaired and blowing cool air by 6:15 p.m. Amazingly fast, professional service! We most definitely will call Air Factor when future needs arise.

Our AC went out in the middle of the night. Our house temperature rose 10 degrees in a few hours and with 2 young children in the home and expected temperatures near 110 the following day, we felt we needed emergency service. We called 3 other companies, all offering "24/7 Emergency Service" at 3 in the morning. None had returned our call by 7am. I called Air Factor at 7:20 and spoke with a technician immediately. He was at our home before 9 and had our AC working by 11. He also said if we'd called them in the middle of the night, they would have come over then. Next time we have an AC emergency, we certainly will do that! Great company, great customer service. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Our AC started blowing hot air. The technician diagnosed a seized fan and said it needed replacement, however since our unit was over 10 years old and the repair was costly, perhaps a new unit would be a better selection. As this was not a possibility at this time for us, he suggested repairing the unit, obtaining a quote from the company on a new unit, and offered to discount the cost of today's repair on the purchase of a new unit in the near future. He was competent, quick, and courteous. We will be using this company for our future AC needs, including the purchase and installation of a new unit.

We realized yesterday that our downstairs air conditioning was not cooling properly; by late evening we found that a fuse had blown, and it blew again after we reset it. We called Air Factor Cooling & Heating, our first choice from Angie's List, at 9:30 a.m. and talked with their office and were told that a technician would come between 10:00 a.m. and noon. I ran a couple of errands and returned about 11:30. Seeing no company van in our driveway, I assumed he hadn't arrived yet. I was wrong. He had come and gone with fabulous results. According to my husband, he opened a service door, saw immediately that the problem was a blown capacitor, fetched one from his van, and installed it. He further checked out the plumbing and electrical systems and the freon content at the unit and pronounced them all in good condition--in spite of the fact that the unit is 14 years old, and we have never had it serviced (although we primarily use an evaporative cooler). We are thrilled to be comfortable again for the part and installation cost of $243.75 plus tax! We know who we'll call next time we have a heating or cooling problem.
Description of Work: The service technician quickly diagnosed the problem, which was a blown capacitor on one of our home's air conditioning systems, and replaced it, using materials he had with him. He further checked the system for freon and checked the functionality of the system including plumbing and electrical parts.

Amazingly terrific service. Technician was clear, did no unwanted repairs without approval. Told us exactly why some preventive measures should be taken and left the option to us without any hard sell. Their response to AC failure both times was terrific but the second time was simply amazing. They had the AC back up and running on the same afternoon as the failure! Air Factor is the ONLY AC technicians I would use in the East Valley. The are A1 in my book.
Description of Work: When air conditioning went out Air Factor quickly came out, did a thorough AC review discovered the problem in the electrical controller that controlled the fan and suggested some other preventive actions which we did. They were terrific. Even better when the AC fan totally failed 2 months later (probably due to the electrical irregularities caused by the prior defective component), Air Factor was at our home on the same day within 4 hours of the failure and had the AC back up and running. Absolutely terrific service. Amount spent included both visits which were roughly $750 the first time and $450 the second time (and trip call was waived)

Excellent! Out of the 5 companies that I called, they were the first to respond back with a solid timeframe that they beat by almost an hour. Hard to tell how good a price it really was as you couldnt pay me enough to get on a roof in the middle of the day. Denis was extremely professional and and answered all my questions. Even asked him about some potential duct work I would like in the future.

Technician was knowledgable, efficient, realistic (other things could have been fixed but weren't critical to the units operation) and on-time. He gave us options and best case/worst case scenarios. Came back within 2 days with blower wheel and did repair with no problem.
Description of Work: General maintenance on a home I just purchased. Technician discovered that the blower wheel was beginning to fail. By agreeing to a 1 year maintenance plan (includes Spring & Fall check-up, priority service in case of breakdown, 10% discount on parts and labor + more) for $139.90, we actually got the repair for less money than if we had paid for just the tune-up ($79.95) and the repair separately. Sergio, who handles the phones, is very efficient, follows through and is quite helpful.

First, let me preface my comments by making it clear that in the Phoenix metropolitan area, selecting the right company for installing a central heating and cooling system is a hugely important decision. Needing to replace the heating/cooling system in our 17-year old home for the second time (and having dealt with a number of the biggest players in the Valley on our previous units, to mixed success), we wanted to be more than careful in the way we went about with this purchase. While the failure of the existing unit in our home was unplanned, to our "good" fortune, this happened in early March when the weather in Phoenix was mild, and thus had the opportunity to seek estimates from various companies without feeling rushed into making a decision. I learned about Air Factor through Angie's List. At first I had concerns about it being a relatively small business, but those concerns were soon dispelled. I spoke directly with the owner (Bill Geiger) on multiple occasions, and he thoroughly and knowledgeably answered my many questions, over and above some of the other companies that I had been in contact. Our sales rep (Larry Littau) originally founded the company and has many years of experience in the business; he did a great job guiding us through our options as we decided on a purchase. The installation proceeded smoothly, and I commend the installers (Travis and Brian) for their polite and professional behavior as well. Overall, Air Factor came across as a small yet proud company that is more than willing to stand by their work. I would urge anyone contemplating a major purchase such as a home heating and cooling system to give them serious consideration. Air Factor's pricing was competitive but not the lowest quote we received. For us it was more important to feel that we would receive a high quality installation of a reliable unit, in lieu of going with the lowest price from a company that would then "nickle and dime" us with issues during yearly maintenance calls (as was the case with our previous home heating and cooling installer). Only time will tell whether our decision to go with Air Factor will meet our expectations, but in the meantime, we feel that we have made a prudent decision.

We like the new unit a lot. It keeps the house at a more even temperature. We did NOT notice a drop in our cooling bills. We had home depot quote us an installation price via one of their subcontractors. I was not impressed by the subcontractor - the contrast between them and Air Factor was HUGE. So, go with these guys. They know what they are doing and will give you good information and install your new equipment properly. Ask them when Trane puts specials on. Getting something installed before the mad dash of summer breakdowns is their slower season, and the liklihood of a rebate is higher.
Description of Work: We had our 20yr old heat pump and air handler replaced. not because it was broken, but we wanted a more efficient model and wanted to replace it before it broke, rather have an outage.

Found several A/C companies from Angieslist.com and called them for quote. Once of the company is Air Factor Cooling & Heating. Larry came out to give the quote and everything seem to be going fine but there price was higher than other A/C companies. Larry was nice but one thing he does not want to share is the details in his quote because he afraid that comsumer will use the information to get a lower price from their competitor. I can see his point but if you are in the A/C business and cannot discuss the details of what you plan or provide to consumer then how can a consumer or homeowner will know what he/she will get for that price. If a person go to see a docotor to have a surgery and the doctor is not willing to explain the details then how this person would feel.

Response from Air & Water Factor
Air Factor Cooling & Heating has many happy customers. Because of this, we won the Angie's List Super Service award for the last four (4) years. We also won Trane’s Customer Satisfaction Leader award for 2009. It is unfortunate that we were not able to please this particular member, but by reading testimonials from other members, you will see that we at Air Factor Cooling & Heating have happy customers because we do it right.

Air Factor replaced our two, seventeen year old units. I got two estimates for the work and Air Factor was slightly better. The installers were efficient and pleasant and the work was done immediately. Everyone from the original estimate appointment to the install appointment were right on time. They cleaned everything up thoroughly. One of the unit blowers began to make a very slight tinging sound. The installers came right back to check on it and made an adjustment, but the owner decided to just replace that blower so that it would not cause any problems in the future. I was already happy with Air Factor, but when I was told that, I was really impressed. I also have one duct that, due to it's placement when the house was built, is angled in such a way that the new, stronger units, send too much air out of it and cause it to be a bit loud. Air Factor is installing a baffle in this vent to decrease the flow and sound. We are very happy that we went with Air Factor. They have been great!
