I gave AZ bikes hundreds of dollars to restore my bike completely; they gave me a broken bike and attitude. First of all, I've been going to AZ bikes for years, so I know what to expect. I've seen them in all three locations (Aspen Ave, Rt 66, and San Francisco st), so you know that I know what I'm talking about. I went in there with my old 1979 Scwhinn Le Tour. An old bike, but still solid and in need of TLC. I finally had a good bit of savings so I thought I'd bring the old girl up to full working condition. I paid for parts up front: New derailer, new bar tape, new brake cables/cable housings, etc ($150). And when I picked it up, I paid for labor. ($150) He did not fully restore my bike. He did not adjust the front derailer at ALL so I couldn't change into high gear, the brakes were loose, the screws that were missing from one of the petals were STILL missing (he said he would replace them) and as I would soon learn later, the cheap-o rear derailer he put on was ALSO maladjusted. I went in there later for the screws for my petal, and the other guy working there (not the mechanic) put them in for me, free of charge, no problem. I went out the door and got on my bike. The rear derailer immediately snapped in two. It turns out that Bryce, the mechanic, adjusted the derailer so that it would run into the rear spokes of the bike, making it snap. It was a cheap plastic derailer, so if it had been metal I would have ruined my spokes. I went back into the shop and showed them what happened, and the other guy said they'd fix it, no problem. That was two weeks ago. I called them and asked what was going on with my bike, and he said that he'd ordered a new derailer since my bike was so old that a new one wouldn't fit. I called him last week and he said that the new derailer had come in and that it would be ready "This afternoon or tomorrow morning." That was Thursday, and it's now Saturday. I went in there yesterday (Friday) and he gave me a BAD attitude. He just saw me standing there and said "I need more time to work on your bike! You'll have it today but I'll need more time!" and IMMEDIATELY went to serve the next customer without even making EYE CONTACT. Without a word I stormed from the shop. That afternoon, I called and asked if my bike was done. The other guy (not the mechanic) answered. THE MECHANIC HAD LEFT THE SHOP WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING MY BIKE. I knew they were open on Saturday, so I sternly told the shopkeeper (not the mechanic) that I was disappointed and upset because I was promised a fixed bike two days ago. Today I went there, and the shop was closed due to a snowstorm. It's Saturday, and my broken, non working bike is sitting, inaccessibly, in his shop after I'd given him $200 to prevent that VERY THING from happening. Don't go to AZ bikes. I gave them 4 years of my time and my patience has run OUT. Take your money and your bike somewhere else.
Description of Work: I wanted my old bike fully restored.
