I stopped in Hank's on a whim and was met at the door by a nice guy who ended up being the store manager, which I did not find out until after the fact. We talked about what I'd ideally like and just chatted for quite a while. I made up my mind at that point that I would be buying from them. I went back about a month later and made some fairly significant purchases. We arranged delivery for the day after Christmas, which the day I was moving to a new home. They stayed in contact with me to verify that we were on the same timetable. On a very long day in which the movers didn't turn out so well, Hank's sent a couple of real professionals to deliver my extremely heavy furniture and made sure they caused no damage to it or my new home. As I am not from this area, they also gave me some insights into my new neighborhood, which I valued. I think it might have been easier moving my vehicle into this place but they made it seem easy and were a pleasure with whom to deal, especially after the aforementioned issues with the movers I employed to relocate me. I also got an education about Italian leather from the manager. I just thought they were cows with funny accents. I could not have been more pleased with any aspect of my relationship with Hank's. Seriously, it couldn't have gone any better in any way.
Description of Work: Got to know me and sold me exactly what I wanted then had furniture delivered the day after Christmas by very good people.

I ordered two Paula Dean "lamp tables" on February 27th. At the time I ordered the tables I was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks before they would be in. I was not happy about the wait but I really liked the tables so I went ahead and purchased the tables. After 8 weeks I had not heard from them telling me that the tables were in so I called Hanks. I was told that it would be mid-May before they would come in. Mid-May came and went with no update from Hanks so once again I called them. At that time I was told it would be another month before the tables would be in. Mid-June came and went with still no call from Hanks. The last time I talked to Hanks I was told that "they would call me when the tables arrived". Finally I called Hanks for an update and they said "oh, they're in". THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CALL ME! It took four months to received my order. This was such a stressful experience that I will NEVER go in another Hanks. In speaking with friends about my problems with Hanks I found out that so many people have had similar experiences with this furniture store. Customer beware!

I had visited the store once and talked to the salesman at least twice - including the Monday prior to the Labor Day weekend sale. When I went to pay cash for the purchase the Saturday before Labor Day, I was told it was $588 and that I would get it for the $488 price - as if I was being granted a favor - but had to pay the sales tax because it was "less than the $100 difference in price." Shame on me for not raising the question then, but it seems to me the sales price is what it is despite the product not being in stock for the sale period. The product had not arrived on the date I was told it would, so I had to call not once but twice to learn of its whereabouts. The second time I told the salesman that I was the customer and should not have to repeatedly call about a purchase I already had paid for. Later I sent a note to the "Customer Care" people complaining and asking for credit on the sales tax but more than a week later I have heard nothing. This store will never get my business again and I've already told others of this incident and will continue to because this store apparently doesn't know the meaning of "customer service" and honoring its advertised commitments.
Description of Work: The store's Labor Day weekend sale advertised Arlington gathering tables and four stools for $488 and with state tax paid. The table I wanted was not in stock but an allotment had been ordered, I was told.

It was the most frustrating, unacceptable furniture purchase in over 30 years of buying furniture. The leather furniture is of dubious quality with flaws being exposed within 1 1/2 days of our purchase. Although we immediately sought assistance in replacing the furniture with an exchange from this company, the store responded with empty promises to help. After one week, I went to speak with the manager in person and he reacted coldly, exhibiting no vestige of customer service. I was met with nothing but apathy in response to my request to help us replace substandard furniture. Letters to the company's President and District Manager yielded no assistance, whatsoever. If you value quality furniture and wish to purchase from a company who guarantees the satisfaction of their customers, do not consider shopping at Hank's Fine Furniture. The furniture is not fine, and the lack of service after the point of sale is extremely disappointing.
