$78,500
Met Mark J McCloskey at my home to get idea of the cost to repair my home, was told it could be done and scope of the job. after a contract was drawn up and approved by my insurance company at a cost of 78,000 that would make the home move in condition. In his contract at start time a payment of 25,000 was required to start the job, after that it left 3 more payments set at different dates that would be paid as the work progressed, around the time of the second payment I was asked for the money 26,000 I told him I needed to contact my bank to have the money released from escrow. at that time mark mccloskey told me to pay now and he can keep on working and the will send a check and I could put back into the bank that's how it works! so I paid the money, they sent a rep out look at the work and noted it wasn't entitled to second payment. at that time Mark J McCloskey called me 4: 30 pm an told me he had a stop work order from the city, that I needed to repair a wall and the foundation and it will cost another 20,000 dollars.at 5pm he gave me two new contracts one was 15,000 to repair a wall or my house will collapse and the other 5,000 was for crack on the basement wall. The following morning I received a call at 9am asking if I have signed the 2 contracts, I told him NO I have not signed them yet. he was very upset and told me he was off the job ( I QUIT ) I immediately went to my home to find all his tools gone it took me 15 minutes to get there, I called him a got no answer. I called a lawyer , trying to get him back to work. about 3 weeks later after I had a structural engineer look at my home to find the wall was ok but the basement did have a crack but was still stable. my lawyer arranged a arbitration meeting to be heled at my home at that meeting the city building inspector and my engineer and his also, at the end of the meeting to 2 engineers agreed the wall was in need of repair, mark J mccloskey was told to he should return to work the city building inspector also told him there was no stop work order, mccloskey refused to continue work and that I still owed him 4,000 more, I had to wait 2 months before I could hire a new contractor to finish my home, I had to then take mark j mccloskey to state supreme court and have now been awarded a judgement on this matter after 6 years. I would not like to see this happen to someone else. beware he has changed his company name to New life reality with us, just after he was served the court papers. who knows what his new name will the next time!

$48,000
March of 2010 entered a contract with Mark J McClosky to rebuild my home after a fire in the amount of $78,000.00 with total move-in condition after completion. In March 2010, work began on the house after the initial deposit of $26,000. Work was done, the building was stripped internally of all wiring and plumbing. Was advised at this point, May 2010, that the second payment on the contract was due, $25,000. I advised McClosky that I would have to contact the bank for the payment and was advised to pull the money from my savings and that the bank would reimburse me so that work would not be halted. I trusted the contractor and did as he asked so work continued. June 5th he provided me with estimates stating additional work that needed to be completed, totaling $20,000. June 6th at 9am, received a call from McClosky asking if I had signed the work orders; I told him I had not and he informed me he was now 'off the job' and quit. After such I hired an attorney to contact him in re: to his leaving the job and there was an arbitration meeting held at my home about 3 months later with a structural engineer. The additional work from McClosky was found to be unnecessary. Only a foundation wall repair was found to be needed and I had this completed with another company. After X amount of months I hired new contractors to do the job so that I would not be found in breach of contract and filed suit on Mark J. McClosky. I was finally awarded a judgement with attorney fees.
