Derek was out at the house quickly to analyze the situation and do an estimate. The work was done timely and in a very professional manner. I will definitely use him again!

I have never had a more unprofessional business transaction in my life. I called two weeks ahead to schedule some electrical work in my new home. He’d come out to give me an estimate for all of the work. The estimate came back with a great price, we were really excited for him to work with us. We talk to Jill, his apparent secretary or assistant, and she was wonderful. She verified our original appointment time and confirmed that we could make our payment the following Monday after the work was completed. The appointment date came and we were moving into the new home. He was scheduled to be at our residence between 1:00 and 1:30 PM. We were so busy that I didn’t really notice, but I looked down at my watch and realized it was already 2:30 PM. We haven’t gotten a text, phone call, email or anything letting us know that he was either not going to be on time or if there is some instance that he was not going to be able to make the appointment. So, I called him and asked why he wasn’t at our home. He said, “Oh did your closing go through”? I was kind of dumbfounded, and I said yes, that’s why we scheduled you to come today. He said oh well if you guys are too busy today we can reschedule. He sounded like he was busy at the moment, so I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was busy, and we were too, so I suggested he come on a different day. He offered on Sunday the same week at 1:00 and 1:30 PM again. Initially we had had a text confirmation of our first appointment so when I talk to him the second time he sent an additional text confirmation for that Sunday between one and 1:30 PM. Sunday came, and we waited for him to show up for the appointment. 1 o’clock past, 1:30 past, and we were calling all afternoon. I called from 1:15 to 3:15 without any answer or response. I missed other appointments and didn’t get to help my family move things because I was waiting for him to come. He finally called us back at 7:30 PM on Sunday night. I missed the call, but when I called him back he answered the phone, “what’s up”? He didn’t remember who I was, he didn’t sound sober, he didn’t apologize, and he didn’t offer to reschedule or help at all. He asked me who scheduled the appointment and I told him that he had. And his response to everything was, “have you talked to Jill”? I told him no, I hadn’t talk to Jill. He said OK will please give her a call. I was kind of shocked, and I told him I didn’t even have her phone number. He gave it to me I called and left a message, and then texted her. Her response was that she was very sorry and she didn’t know what was going on. She said that Derek had told her that he had spoken to us. That wasn’t true at all. We hadn’t heard from him at all. I asked Joe when I spoke to her if he was the owner of the company which she confirmed he was. He wouldn’t answer her phone calls either on Sunday, either. She was apologizing profusely, and said that she didn’t know what was going on and that she didn’t even know what to say. I just told her that we would find another electric company to work with. She said that she would do the same, and I told her that I was sorry for the situation and that I was embarrassed for him. I would not recommend Derek or his company at all. Jill is fantastic, I hope she finds a better employer.

Star Electric was fantastic. I have used them a couple times and have found the service to be excellent. They identified the problem, explained it to me and repaired it. They are friendly, punctual and reasonably priced. I saved their number in my phone. If I ever have electrical problems again, I will call Star Electric!

Star Electric is great. They are quick, honest and reliable. I have used them a couple times and will call them again next time I need work done.

This is the second time I have used these guys and they were great. Everything was explained to me and they did a great job. Very professional, and punctual and easy to deal with. I will continue to use them in the future.

We were very impressed with their work. We did not have the correct length and type of cables they needed to do the job so they went out and found them for us. A great help as we did not know what we needed to make all the components work correctly. Installation was challenging due to some hidden structural elements behind the sheetrock but they made it work and it looks great. They left the work area cleaner than they found it!

Christmas guests are coming, and I realized there was no electricity in half of the living room "bedroom." When I called, I was told it would be after Christmas before anyone could come. I explained the situation, so I was put on a cancellation list. They had a cancellation on the same day I called, and they came right away. They suggested that they fix the patio outlet while they were here. I was very pleased to have such quick service at a reasonable price.

Amazingly well. One of my light fixtures showed water damage and Eric discovered I had a roofing problem. He gave me the name of a roofing company who came out and expertly fixed the problem within 2 days. Eric and his crew were here yesterday promptly at 8:00 a.m. and they efficiently worked through my "to do" list. One thing not originally on the list was to replace a switch in my cooktop (the main burner hasn't worked for over 2 years and I recently got a replacement part from a local supply store). I hesitated asking them to even look at this, because it wasn't in the original estimate, and I didn't know whether they would even want to fix an appliance. But they were game to try and an hour later, my main cooktop burner was operational again! They really had to problem solve, because the new switch didn't fit exactly right, but they worked out a great solution. More importantly, they charged me a nominal amount for all their effort. I really couldn't be happier with Eric and his team. It is so hard these days to find prompt, professional knowledgeable people. I feel like I hit the lottery with this company. I will definitely hire them again and I will give them an enthusiastic endorsement anytime someone asks if I "know of a good electrician."

Without a doubt a great experience! Eric and Derek were very professional, extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. They arrived when they said they would and completed the work in a timely manner and cleaned up afterward. I can't imagine having a more positive experience with any kind of repair work in your home. It's never fun to spend the money for these kind of repairs. So, the experience itself should be with folks who obviously care about that their work.

I'm very happy with Star Electric. We originally found them on Angies List to come fix a cut electrical cable for our dishwasher, install some recessed lighting in the kitchen and wire an outlet and HDMI hook up above the fireplace for our tv.  Thus far we has them accomplish the dishwasher repair, and are scheduled for the tv & recessed lighting next week (I'll update the review once they complete that work).  Last night my a/c went out and my house was 85 degrees by 8pm.  I had the a/c guy come out and repair the a/c unit, but the circuit breaker that feed power to the a/c unit was blown and not transferring power.  I called Star Electric at approx. 830pm and got a call back within 5 mins.  About 10 mins there after they were on their way.  They showed up at our house in about 30 mins, fixed the breaker and had the a/c up and running by 940pm.  Overall they're a great, friendly company who have been super flexible with us on projects.  They're professional, on-time, and complete the job they said they were willing to do. I'm very happy with this company and will continue to use them.

I used to do all my own electrical work but I'm 73 now with a bad back and I've done business with Star before so it was just so easy to call them in.  Before when I used Star, both Derek and Eric came, but this time it was just Derek.  I thought it would take him all day for the work we had, but he finished it in about 4 hours or so. He was about half an hour late getting here, and took longer at lunch than expected because he was answering sales calls, but he still finished more quickly than I expected.  I like how they tell you exactly what they propose to do and how much it will cost before they start work. And you can tell he knows exactly what needs to be done and how to do it because he always has exactly the tools and parts he needs when he gets up on the ladder.  All the work was done perfectly

Called at 0800. Responded at 1 pm, looked at problem and went to shop for ballast.. came back and installed ballast at 2:50 pm. He stopped here between other scheduled appointments and fit me in so I would have light for weekend. Very pleased with Derek Potter and his professional skills and attitude. I am very pleased with Star Electric.

Derek Potter and Rod did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.  They took the time to look at my needs, make recommendations, and provided excellent service.

Yesterday (Thurs, Mar 17) I needed an electrician to come out ASAP for some trouble-shooting at my home.


I noticed here in Angie's List that Star Electric, LLC, had an amazing number of positive reviews so I decided to give them a call.


One of the owners, Eric, answered my late afternoon call and, after I described the situation, he promised to have someone over the next morning (Friday) at 8 a.m.


On Friday, I received a call from Star Electric, LLC, at 7:30 a.m. letting me know that they were on their way to my home, and they then arrived at 8 a.m. as promised.


Upon greeting, the two electricians introduced themselves as Derek and Rod, and asked me to explain the problem I was experiencing. They listened patiently, and asked various questions at times to help them begin deciphering the situation.


They discovered the problem in short order and began fixing it. They took the time to explain each step of the process and answer all of my questions. (In addition, they were both very personable, and we had enjoyable conversations.)


The work was accomplished in about 1 hour, and the price was exactly as had been discussed during my initial phone call.

Star Electric is just great! While their satisfied customers include Auburn University (for electrical for high tech facilities) we are just a family with an older home ..and they are a godsend. Star Electric...Eric and Derek...expertise is impressive, their prices are exceptionally reasonable...and they are a small business of integrity and efficiency. I cannot recommend them more highly.

I was impressed on several fronts:
1. Star Electric came when they said they would and called before they arrived, just as promised.
2. Derek Potter, the technician, made a quick diagnosis and an even quicker fix. What he found was simple to repair, but without his expert judgement we would have been facing a serious fire hazard we were completely unaware of.
3. Because he had to spend so little time he cut the house call fee nearly in half--something he didn't have to do since I had never worked with him before.
When it comes to electrical repair, I know almost nothing. I rely on my electrician not just to fix any problems, but help keep me safe. Frankly, we had an electrician we had used for years. But he became lazy and the "repairs" he made often didn't last.
Now, with Star Electric, I have peace of mind in a reliable provider I can trust.

Derek was right on time, friendly and very knowledgable. He had the light fixture working appropriately and the kitchen outlets up and running in about an hour. Super nice guy, very professional, and did a great job. will definitely use Star Electric again in the future.

Called Star Electric LLC and explained that my air conditioning unit was tripping the circuit breaker.  We set a date for them to look at my system.  I was called the say before and given an arrival time.
They arrived promptly, diagnosed and repaired the problem.  I feel they were forthright with information, prompt, professional, courtesy and their charge for the repair was reasonable.
Next time I need an electrician they will be the first I contact.

Amazing company. I called after my neighbors house was struck by lightening to ensure my house was OK since a few bulbs blew and power outlets burned out. After a quick response an electrician was at my house the next day. He checked all outlets in my house, the wiring in the attic, and replaced a few outside flood lights. My house did not take any damage, but the low costs of 99.00 for a service charge is WELL worth it to have the piece of mind that my house is safe. The total charge included the outlet and bulb replacement. My wife and I are very happy with this service and would highly recommend them to anyone for a job that involves electricity. Thank you again.
