Electrician removed a single kitchen light and replaced with 4 can lights. Again very professional and nice, but the cost for the amount of work required was very high on the electrical. Plugs and wiring were all there to tap into with nothing new to run. Other than the price on the electrical work, the staff was on time, professional, pleasant, cleaned up after themselves, and completed the work in a very efficient and timely manner. I would use them again but will be more selective on what they do based upon pricing. Simple jobs maybe shp around for pricing, and for complex things definitely would rely on them again !
The only minor glitch was that the crew arrived about one hour later then scheduled, and the city inspector took all afternoon to arrive.
FHI: Dixie Electric worked worked with Alabama Power to get the electricity turned off/on. Alabama Power did a good job too.
No, they found the problem in the other wall sockets and the circuit was complete. Everything has worked fine since and the garage heater on the enclosed patio is awesome.
They didn't have enough line on the truck to run the 240 line. They had to call-in to have someone in another truck/van to finish the job. But given the amount of time they were here on-site I would list the price as fair given it was two employees.
They quoted a price for the work of troubleshooting the wall sockets and had me sign an agreement beforehand. Not knowing what the problem was because it could have been a burned out line and they would have to tear up so walls to get to it. If they had to do that then the price would have been more reasonable. But I understand their reasoning and business overhead so I'm not going to grumble too much.
They were courteous and professional. If they had enough line on their truck I would have given them an A rating on professionalism.
They would not estimate the cost to replace the breaker box over the phone. This seems acceptable, because it could be rather dependent on the current box and its condition, though they arrived for service with a book dictating very rounded prices for exactly what I was requesting.
I asked for a quote to either move the breaker box indoors or to leave it outside and replace it with a newer model, I was told that it would cost $4500 dollars to replace the box and leave it outdoors. They did not provide a quote for moving it indoors due to fire codes being restrictive.
Nothing was out of the ordinary (aside from one breaker which was failing that I planned to replace) with the current system and the change was merely a quality of life preference.
Since i had already spent 70 dollars just to have them show up, I asked how much it would cost for them to replace the burnt out breaker. They returned to their price book and came back with a $125 cost (the breaker costs about $15 at Lowe's) over the already charged $70 service fee. I decided to cut my losses at that point and sent them on their way.
Very professional and courteous, I presume at least in part because they rob their customers blind with service costs.
"Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment regarding your service. We are so pleased that your service call went well, and we look forward to being your life long electricians!!"
"Thank you [member name removed]!! You don't know how much comments like yours make our day brighter!! You have mentioned so many things that we do with pride, we are so happy that you had a wonderful service experience. Gary is a great technician and you can ask for him specifically when you need us again. In fact if you let us know when you call we can put a note on your customer account that will say he is your preferred technician. Thank you again!!!"
"Thank you so much for the amazing comment!! I have made sure that everyone in the company got to read your testimonial because it is the best reason for us all to keep working hard and training hard to be the best we can be. As you know our main goal is to exceed our customer expectations, be trustworthy and honest about our pricing. Again, your kind words mean so much to all of us. Thanks again."
Their service was A+, but I rated the cost as a B, as they are not the cheapest folks in town, but they do an outstanding job that I feel confident in. So, the work is costly, not terribly so, fair but not "excellent" in terms of price. But the work is definitely worth the extra cost. Signing up for their maintenance program saves a little on the cost of most work and gives you priority in getting service when you call. I signed up for that, and we have had to have them come back two more times recently after we moved in when we found additional problems or needs. They DO come promptly when called, same day, once within just two hours.
When we finally moved in January 2013, we found more work that needed to be done, such as bad cable TV connections, bad dryer plug and other items. They have also returned to make repairs and install an additional cable outlet we wanted. Every time, they have been here promptly and on time and have been very friendly and professional. On one occasion, they were able to come to the house less than two hours after I made the call.
"Thank you so much customer for the wonderful comments. We are so happy that all of your experiences with us have been great. We are also so pleased that you joined our Home Protection Plan, as you already know it saves money, gives you lifetime warranties on almost everything we do while you maintain the plan and gives you exclusive specials and priority service, which comes in really handy!! Along with that you get a truly valuable home electrical safety inspection which certainly can help you rest easier knowing that your home electrical system is running safely and efficiently. We look forward to taking care of you next time. Thank you again."
"Thank you so much for your comments, we appreciate you taking the time to do so. Our pricing may seem high but it is actually very competitive. We carry a lot of parts on our well stocked truck so that we can do the repair on the spot rather than make excessive trips to the parts stores that clients would normally pay for by the hour. We are able to save your valuable time by doing this. We have the most up to date tools and we aim to be as convenient for you to use as possible. I hope that we will remain your preferred electrician for the future."
"Thank you for taking the time to review your technician and the service you received. I am happy that you felt your service was professional, we train constantly to exceed our customer expectations not only technically but in the way our technician communicates with our customers. We want you to have an outstanding experience, one unlike you would get from other contractors that may come into your home. You mentioned you felt the pricing was a bit more than expected but you had no comparison. Let me share with you the difference between us and other companies. Our pricing reflects the overall experience that you will have by using Dixie Electric Company. Our technicians are thoroughly criminally back ground checked, drug tested, professionally trained and certified. The materials we use are top notch, we never use cheap material nor do we cut corners with the quality of work to make the cost cheaper. We have been in business over 100 years by being honest, trustworthy and because we know our customers are what keep us in business year after year. Thank you so much for choosing us, we really appreciate you."
"Thank you Customer for your comments. I am so pleased to know that our technician took good care of you!!"
