In addition the "tune up", we had been having issues with one vent with condensation issues.  He got in the attic, and realized the insulation wasn't packed properly around the vent thus more than liking causing the issue.  There were no additional fee charged for this "extra".  We have already recommend them to friends that have used them as well.

We were and are very pleased. They were prompt and courteous and had the work done ahead of schedule. We live in another state and this is a second house for us so it is good to know about Hansen Heating and Cooling in the event we need them again.  (I do apologize for being so slow at responding! I think my wife and I each thought the other had done this review.)

We purchased the Hansen Heating and Cooling maintenance service "Big Deal" from Angie's List.  The company contacted us within hours and we scheduled the service for three days later.  On the date agreed upon, the technician was right on time.  At the end, he explained clearly the service he had performed and the results of his inspection/tests.  He suggested that we replace a faulty thermostat (we already knew there was a problem with it) and explained that there was also a problem with a valve in one of our units that would prevent it to work efficiently (we had also noticed issues that were consistent with what he explained).  He then presented us with different options. He explained that there was absolutely NO emergency and that we could wait until the next Fall to have the repair done.  The technician was clear, straight-forward and didn't try to push/rush us into paying for expensive repairs.  A job well done and an excellent value.  We were very pleased with the whole experience!  And we will contact them again in the Fall to have them do the repair on the faulty valve. :  )

Scheduling was done quickly, we ended up having to reschedule but they handled that well. The service worked out fine and they did what they said they would do.

Aside from checking the freon pressure and ability of unit to be turned on and off from thermostat, very little was done. Cleaning performed was minimal. Function checking was minimal. Wife specifically called the technicians attention to the loud noises coming from unit during operation. Technician dismissed them as not a problem without checking for cause.
Compressor failed in unit making noise and entire unit had to be replaced.

I chose Hansen H & C based on their Angie's List rating. The Hansen team, led by Jake, installed a new scroll compressor, drier, & capacitor in my heat pump. They arrived within the time frame promised & the work only took about 2 3/4hrs. They threw in a new circuit breaker at no additional charge. I've performed some minor a/c repair in the past & can say they performed in a thoroughly professional manner. The bonus; they charged substantially less than their nearest competitors.

I noticed that the heater was not working late yesterday afternoon. I checked and the outside unit was not running. This told me that either it was the electrical breaker or something with the 24 volt side. If either the fan or compressor had gone out the other would be trying to run. I checked all the breakers and the 24 volt line going to the unit. All was good. I figured the safety controls like the high pressure cutout or the low pressure cutout had failed open. I looked on Angie' List and found Hanson with a lot of positive reviews as well as a coupon for a free service call.
I called and set up the appointment. I was asked if I had used Hanson before and I said "no, I found you on Angie's List."
The service tech, Chad, called and told me he was on his way. When he arrived the first thing he did was look at the inside unit. He just opened the door and closed it right back. He said that because my unit is a Rheem he had a good idea what the problem was. He walked up to the outside unit and Chad pressed a reset button near the bottom of the unit close to where the refrigerant lines enter the unit. Chad explained that Rheem units have an issue with the high pressure switch. The issue is so bad that they have put a reset button on the units that is user accessible. At this point I am thinking that I am on the hook for a service call at the least and the guy has been at my house for all of 3-4 minutes.
It would have been easy for Chad to notice the reset button tripped and open the unit, replace some part, press the reset button while I was not looking and charge me a bunch for work I did not need. Thankfully Chad was honest and showed me the reset button.
Chad went to shake my hand and told me that if the unit gives me any more issues to call back. I asked what do I owe and he said "nothing, your an Angie's list customer." Yes I am.

Chad Hansen met me at my house for a free estimate the day after I called and spoke with Heidi in the office.  From the first time someone answered the phone with this company, I was met with nothing but polite, friendly and professional service.  Chad gave me an estimate to replace my inside and outside units, thermostat, and balance airflow, then made arrangements to install 4 days later.  Because we have a rescue dog that is really skittish and nervous around strangers, he offered to break up the 6-hour job over 2 mornings to minimize the stress on the dog.  He and his team wound up installing it all in one morning.  It took 4 hours.  They were great about explaining the new system's thermostat and the warranty (10 years).  They left the inside and outside cleaner than when they arrived.  They even give you 30 days to pay.  Awesome job.  So happy to have found someone I trust for A/C service.

I contacted Hansen Heating and Cooling based on the Angie's List reviews.  I was not disappointed.  The receptionist made the appointment for Chad, the owner, to come to our home for an estimate.  He was extremely professional and on time.  After presenting the estimate, my husband and I decided to let him do the installation.  Chad and his associate arrived at our home once again on time.  The workmanship is neat and we are very pleased.  As Chad stated, you don't pay me until it is installed and you are happy.  We are happy!

The technician (Daryl) from Hansen Heating and Cooling came out to the house on Monday, October 14, 2013.  He explained that the compressor was gone and that a replacement would cost $1800.00.  He checked the unit and found coolant leaks and thoroughly explained that we needed to replace the heating and air systems.   He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the problems and gave me a quote on a new Bryant system.  I agreed to the quote and within an hour.....Heidi from the office had called and gave me a date that the new unit would be put in (Wednesday, October 16, 2013).  They would check my credit on Tuesday (October 15, 2013) and the work would begin as mentioned above the next day.  At approximately 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, Mr. Chad Hansen (owner of Hansen Heating and Cooling) and his helper (Jake) were at the house ready to start work.  The work was completed before 10:30 A.M. that day.  The job was done in a professional manner and the work area was clean upon completion of the job.  Mr. Hansen explained the operation of the system and stated they would return for a six month inspection of the system and that I could call for any assistance needed.  I wish all transactions were carried out with the same attention to detail that Mr. Hansen and his associates display.  I would recommend Hansen Heating and Cooling without reservation......they do what they promise and do it extremely well!!!!!

When I asked the tech if he cleaned the fins, he said that wasn't normally done at this time of year, but he did offer to hose them off. When I asked if he had cleaned the coils on the condenser inside, he said his gauges didn't indicate any need to do so. Well, I scheduled this maintenance to keep those gauges in a normal position. In other words, to prevent problems, not wait until they occur and fix them.  I'm not upset; I got what I paid for, and then some.

Our older unit started to have a really hard time cooling the house, and this month the electric bill went from 245.00 to 334.00! We knew we had to get it looked at right away (besides, with a 4 mo old in the house and 95* days in late September, we were very uncomfortable and not getting much sleep!). I called Hansen's about 10AM and they said they had a guy in our area and would be glad to send him over after he finished at the other place. He arrived a little after noon, checked out our system, charged the unit and cleaned out our line, and was out of here around 1:15PM. He was prompt, courteous, and when asked gave me some good advice about which thermostat I should buy. Best of all, he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't really need. Money is very tight at the moment, and we already know the older outside unit needs replacing sometime in the near future, but that isn't in the cards yet. It's very refreshing to find someone willing to help nurse it along until we CAN replace it! As far as I'm concerned, I know who we'll be calling when that time comes.

I found Hansen Air on Angie's List after having two other companies visit my home to give diagnosis and estimates.

Company A spent 5 hours in my home and charged me ~$180 for the diagnosis & estimate (no work done).  Company B spent 30 minutes at my home and charged me $100 for diagnosis & estimate, although the tech noted Company A had written with marker on the unit itself, what the problem was! so I can't say I truly got a fresh second opinion.  Both company's estimates to do the work were out of my budget.  As this was my upstairs AC, I could take a little time to find a better deal, because the air worked fine downstairs!

Groupon sent a special price for Angie's List membership, so I signed up and this is the first time I've used Angie's List to find a service provider.  I selected Hansen's because of the large number of positive experiences posted, especially regarding price.

I called Chad on a weekend and he sent a technician out first thing Monday morning (the day I requested).  Hunter was prompt,  and did not waste any time.  He was courteous and his appearance was professional.  I mentioned I had seen the coupon on Angie's List for a free diagnostic visit, so he honored that and waived the usual $25 ($25!!) diagnostic visit fee.  He spotted an additional problem-- damaged ductwork, which had been present for some years but we simply kept retaping it.  He explained to me why this problem needed to be properly fixed sooner rather than later and quoted me a price to repair it, also.  Neither of the first two companies had noted the damaged ductwork or offered an estimate to repair it.  (although company A did offer estimates on repairing/ replacing my downstairs unit, which is working fine!)

I explained to Hunter that I wanted a working system, and did not want to replace the entire system if I didn't need to.  In his opinion, there was no need to replace the gas furnace (which is only 9 years old anyway).

I went with Hansen's because they offered equivalent product for a much better price, a full 25% lower than 'Company A' (which was lower than 'Company B'!) and also because they were able to schedule me within the week.

Jake called this morning to say they were on their way.  They arrived about 9:30 and were finished before noon.  The weather was awful this morning, torrential downpour with flash flood warnings in Baldwin County.  I would not have blamed them if they had left and returned another day, because part of the work was replacing the outdoor unit and they were getting soaked!  They took care to cover my stairs with a drop cloth, and wore disposable shoe covers to avoid tracking mud into my home.  Ryan and Matthew worked quickly and continuously -- these guys do not stand around and visit!  I offered them towels, but other than that they would not accept a cup of coffee or glass of water.  The repair on the damaged ductwork was beautifully done- it looks so much better and can only help my electric bill.  Jake said because I was an Angie's List customer, the price for the duct repair was being reduced from $675 to $500 per instruction from the company owner.  That was unexpected!

When the work was complete, Jake took the time to vacuum my stairs and hall landing, to look better than before Hansen's had arrived.  I appreciated them working through the rain, and discounting the duct repair, so I offered them a tip to pick up lunch.  Jake would not accept it, saying this company takes care of its employees!

Jake walked me through and showed me exactly what had been replaced, per my request.  I asked him for business cards so I can print this review and distribute the cards with review to my neighbors and friends.

Extremely positive experience for a woman with no man on premises-- I did not feel they tried to take advantage of my ignorance of the trade!!

I know with the current heat wave, they were busy. But as promised, they did finally show up--even at 7 p.m., which was fine! The gentleman was pleasant and got the work done nicely and even showed my husband how to keep the condensation hose clean on both units. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Definitely will use them again and tell my friends about them.

Came out all the way to Fort Morgan for no additional charge.
The technician was very well prepared for common problems and had all the needed parts in his truck. Was very professional, quick to identify the problem and very quick to fix it. The price was very good considering it includes the parts and labor.
Will be calling them again for maintenance and service.

Exceptional service. Called at 8:00 AM, was here before 9:00 and finished by 9:05. He said he cleaned contacts on the compressor and did not charge me anything. Doesn't get better than that!

We've used a local heating and air conditioning service company for over 20 years, so when the central air "died" at our second residence, where my son lives, we immediately called them. I had recently opened an account with Angie's list and used the website to find a good plumber and tree cutting service, both of which we were very happy with. But I felt no need to look for someone to service air conditioning because we had been so happy with the above mentioned company. They came out after a couple of [very hot] days and put freon in the old system which had it cooling again. It lasted 3 days. I knew the unit was ancient and had been expecting a complete breakdown, so I wasn't surprised that it died. Our service company came out again, (after another couple of [hot] days), and gave us an estimate to replace the old unit. The cost - quite frankly - floored me. We couldn't afford it. We would have have to finance the cost. I was very disappointed, but because they had always done such good work and been honest with us, I was sure that what they quoted me was the going rate for what we needed. Later, while worrying about the financing, I had doubts. And then I remembered Angie's list. I was curious to see who local folks were recommending for air conditioning repair and what those companies  were charging. Hansen's was listed first, with a wonderful list of reviews. And I was amazed at what they were charging for replacing central air units in houses of similar sizes to ours. I hated being disloyal to our old company but we honestly couldn't afford to pay what they were going to charge us. I called Hansen's and Chad came out the very next day. He was actually early to our appointment and beat me to the house! He was professional and thorough, spending a lot of time trying to start the old unit even though I was quite certain it was dead. When he gave us an estimate on a new system I was thrilled! Hansen's was going to be able to set us up completely for $1500.00 LESS then the other service company and we had enough in savings to cover it. Chad set up a service date for next Monday, which was their earliest opening, but said there was a chance they could get part of the work done on Saturday, (June 15). It turned out that they were able to get it ALL done on Saturday. They arrived right on time. They were efficient and professional. They were polite, respectful, and friendly. They even spoke to our 3 dogs, who took to them immediately. Less then 3 hours after Hansen's arrival, the vents were blowing cold air! I can honestly say I have never been as pleased with service from anyone as I am with Hansen Heating and Cooling. I not only recommend them here, I will be recommending them to everyone I know.

I am so pleased with the service I received from Hansens Air.  I have been in need of a unit for about 3 years now and have been so nervous and unsure about making such a large purchase.  I feel like I hit the lottery by choosing Hansens.  Mr. Hansen and his assistant were so professional and nice.  They were finished in under 4 hours and left my house and yard spotless.  I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to anyone in need of AC work of any kind.
