This is the second time we hired Mike's team to install wood floors. This time we had his team redo our powder room wood floors. They completely ripped out the old wood floors, installed new ones, and applied stain.

They consulted with us on the pros and cons of the different plank widths and stains. They also managed the new staircase so it integrated well where it met up with the hardwood floors. The owner Mike is very meticulous in his process of prepping and staining. The crew that did the stairs was very detailed and professional. We worked with Ron Paige to select the staircase material. Ron made sure every detail was covered and included a simulated drawing for approval. Mike also came back to repair one section where the stain did not take due to a prep flaw. He reworked the entire section and it looks seamless. We are very happy with the results. The only con is that Planet Hardwoods stays busy so if you are in a hurry you have to work around other jobs they have. But they did complete the job in the quoted 2-3 weeks and I was always able to reach the owner by phone or text.

Mike advised us on the pros and cons of the various widths of hardwood and stains. He is very meticulous with the prep and staining process. Planet Hardwood also managed the tear out of our old staircase and installation of our new staircase so it integrated perfectly on both ends with the new hardwood floors. He uses Don Paige as a supplier. Ron Paige came out, took measurements and helped us pick the materials. He even gave us an approval drawing. We only had one issue where the stain did not take to the hardwood due to a prep issue, but Mike came back and refinished the small area so it was seamless. Planet Hardwood is busy but they will work you in which helped us meet our 2-3 week deadline. Mike answers his phone which is a rarity in dealing with contractors. We are very pleased with the results.

Mike arrived for the estimate appointment on time. He gave a written estimate for removal and disposal of old floor covering and for installation of hardwood I had already purchased. Mike was very accommodating of our schedule when selecting a start date. On day one, the crew arrived on time and went to work right away. The crew was very pleasant and courteous. They finished in a day and a half. Before Mike started the shoe mold the next day, we did an inspection walk-through together. I identified a few minor discrepancies. Mike was very receptive to things I pointed out and offered agreeable solutions. The minor issues were corrected and the shoe mold finished by the end of the day. The floors look wonderful!

From start to finish Mike and his team were professional and easy to deal with. He provided an accurate and timely quote, communicated very well throughout the process and the end results are incredible. Punctual, professional, high quality of work and reasonably priced

Mike Ward and his associate was very prompt and professional. He began phase I of the project and it took less than a week to have the first half of the home floors sanded, prepped, stained and polyurethaned. Mike had great attention to detail, was very informative on the various types of wood, stain, etc. The floors in the great room, foyer and master bedroom looked amazing. Very little dust from the sanding was exhibited. All trash, sawdust, cans of poly had to be disposed of by the owner, it was a bit of a hassle to dispose but was ok with it. We now look forward to beginning phase 2 on 23 MAY to complete the 2nd half of the home floors (Kitchen, hallway and two smaller bedrooms. (pictures to follow on 2nd post) All in all, a great choice for any floor refinishing project. I fully recommend Mike and his associates!

Mike Ward has done work for me on a 50's duplex. The job was done so well he was my first choice when we decided to take the plunge and upgrade our personal residence. The final step (molding around baseboards) remains but we are very impressed yet again!

Great work! The guys did an amazing job. Mike had to find the right hardwood to match ours and it was not an easy thing to do... hardwood now and hardwood from the 50s can be very different. The gap/hole from the removed wall/old vent look like they never existed - he blended the old and new together so well we were shocked and only have pictures to prove the way it used to be. The entire hardwood floor was sanded and sealed again - it looks new. Pricing is good, and the amount and quality of work that was done was phenomenal. We will use Planet Hardwood again as well as refer others.

Phenomenal! Much better than I anticipated. Floors were a shiny honey color and now they are a matte rich color that looks like an entirely new floor. 2 other contractors told me refinishing floors would not look good since the floors were pre-finished and had been stained at a factory. They claimed the soft wood would accept stain in a splotchy manor and it wouldn't come out well. Mike proved them wrong. I only wish we had done this when we first moved in the home. I highly recommend and would only use Planet Hardwood in the future.

We were very pleased with the service from Mike Ward at Planet Hardwood.  We had gotten a quote a few years prior from him and one other company, and realized we needed to save up a little more.  His expertise impressed us, and we knew we wanted to go with him eventually.  Fortunately, the price had not changed much when we contacted him recently.

He was very informative about the process and flexible on time.  He was responsive to all our communication. We trusted him enough to just give him a key to come and go as needed to complete the job.  His estimated time for the job was exactly as quoted.  The new hardwood was installed the first day with a team. But, Mike completed the rest of the job on his own. He told us that he uses a dust-free system for sanding, and it was probably about as dust-free as it could be.  There was a little bit of dust, like it had been a few weeks since dusting, but that was it. It was much less than the pollen caked on my front porch. :-)

We discussed the look we wanted and he brought 3 stains to show us.  He put them on the hardwood next to the hardwood stairs that we weren't refinishing so we could see how it would look together.  We made our selection, and we are very happy with the result.  We discussed the final finish and how each option would look, and how it would compare to our existing floors. We decided to go with a satin finish for a more natural look, based on his recommendations.  We are extremely happy with the overall look, and like it even better than our original floors.

He is a Bona-certified professional.  He was very clear about the best way to care for the floors to get the best look and make the finish look great for years to come.  I appreciated his willingness to share his opinions when asked and explanations of why things look a certain way and why I should use certain cleaners over others.

We would recommend Mike at Planet Hardwood to anyone looking to get new hardwood floors or refinish their existing hardwood floors. Everyone that has seen them has commented how great they look!

I was notified I was being transfered to another state for work and had 3 weeks to prepare my house to place it on the market. I contacted another flooring contractor who was referred by my realtor, but after waiting for more than a week with no response, we decided to use Angie's List to find another contractor. We explained the urgency of our situation, and boy did Planet Hardwood respond! We had an on-site visit the next day with a quote provided during the visit. We were offered an unsolicited discount for using Angie's List. Best of all, the work was started the next business day! The work is still in process, but we are so impressed with the response time that I had to leave an early review. The floors have been sanded and there is literally no dust for me to clean up. The owner was very easy to work with.  He is extremely knowledgeable about hardwood and installation.  He does not provide product but is very helpful in choosing the correct type to match existing hardwood. We did not have to play phone tag. If I needed to ask something, I would text and he would reply promptly.
Juan the team lead was great. He was very professional. His crew finished in one day!
The price was the best.  I won't even search around for another company if I need any more installed, or if I need to refinish existing floors.

A couple years ago I hired Planet Hardwood to come in and refinish all my hardwood floors.  Mike and his crew did an excellent job redoing the floors.  When I built the addition onto my home I had Mike and his crew come in and do the floor in the addition to match the Hardwood that was in the house.  Again they did a Excellent Job.

Tile floor was removed in 2 days.  Barrier was installed before putting down unfinished white oak boards.  Mike came in with the sander and sanded the kitchen, dining room, and living room floors to get them smooth.  He stained all three rooms and then added 2 coats of polyurethenein consecutive days.  Everything turned out beautiful when he was finished, despite some dust and furniture displacement for a few days.  We really love the job Mike did and how professional he is in getting the entire project completed.  He is a master of wood floors. 

We are anxious to show and tell others of the amazing difference he has made in our floor. We know that he took extra care and spent extra time in giving us his professional best. He gave us a detailed schedule of work to be performed, when we would have to be out of the house, etc... everything was better than we had anticipated. I would recommend his services to anyone.
