Mr. Electric of Huntsville

My elderly mother called Mr. Electric to get a light installed over her garage door. Mr. Electric came out and told her they could do that but she needed her electric box relaced and they could do everything for $7000. My mother who has memory problems agreed to the service. After they installed the electric box and wired everything up then they told her that her hot water heater that she had installed a few years ago was not up to code because it was too close to the electric box they just installed but they could move it for her for another $5000. Unfortunately, mom paid for this too. I cannot believe there are humans who are so disgusting that they prey on little old ladies for a living. Please be very careful with these crooks because they have no conscious and will take you for every penny.

Didn't go so great. They contacted me quickly and came right over, they even seemed competent, but as soon as we started talking money, they got very coy and refused to give me any straight answers. Even though coming over and looking was supposedly free, I ended up paying them $225 for an analysis of the problem. He said he'd waive the analysis fee if I had the work done, but once he figured out what I should have done, that fee didn't get waived. He ended up wanting almost $600 to fix a light switch. Ridiculous! I paid him the money I had promised and kicked him out, then went back with a screwdriver and replaced the lightswitch myself. I felt like the company had spent many long hours training the workers how to sell up, how to present costs, and how to close the deal. I'm never using any company like that. Stop trying to wring money out of me. Fix my stuff and I'll pay you a fair rate for the effort.

It went excellent, very knowledgeable very helpful and I'm gonna used them again. I would definitely recommend them. The technician was awesome!

They provided a good service, but they're super expensive.  They've com out twice and the second time they came out they amount they charged us was an exorbitance, they did a great job. I would use them again only if I were desperate because the price is really bad.

Excellent work. Timely high quality. Professional technicians. Cleaned up well. Only complaint is that the work seemed significantly overpriced, which I did not figure out until after the job was completed.

They're pretty big in Huntsville. It was a lot of money. It was probably a $700 job for which they charged me $1500. They do that consistently. They were top of the yo-yo list. I always knew I was getting ripped off but I didn't know what to do about it. I found that out when I was redoing a house. I said wait a minute, these other people just did nearly the same thing and they charged me 30% less than these guys did. Their rates are ridiculous. I don't think they do lousy work. They just incredibly over charge for it. They had a real habit of telling me about things that needed to be done. It's sort of like when you get your oil changed from a mechanic that doesn't have enough work and it turns out you got 14 other problems with your car that you didn't know about. That's the other thing about them. No matter what the job was, there was always something else, according to them, that really, really, really, really needed to be done. That's what I didn't like. It was basically like a con man. As if you guys aren't charging enough already? They are bad about that. They won't tell you what they are going to charge until they show up. They're very punctual. They're johnny on the spot.

The services were fine until time to pay. We called them 3 times in about a 10 day span. We had used their services before and they had been great and priced well. This time, my elderly father and I needed a fan put up, a bedroom overhead light changed out and some outlets and light switches replaced. Each time we called, they came out right away and did a great job. The person who did the work was very professional and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. But each time it was time to pay for the services, the sticker shock was unbelievable. Those 3 visits cost us over $2,200. For all 3 service calls combined, they could not have been here more than 2 hours combined. We truly feel that we were totally taken advantage of. I have done a lot of research since their last visit and no other electric company in the area charges anywhere near what they charged us for that little bit of work. We will never call them again and buyer beware. Make sure you get their pricing in advance, which was our mistake. They owe us a big apology and a refund.

They were fine. The price seemed like a lot for what they did. The best part was they came out quick. I would use them again.

I thought they were very good. They were kind of expensive but overall, they were pretty good.

They were open and honest that the appliance was still under manufacturer's warranty when they first came out. I was unable to get someone to come out following the manufacturer's directions, and when the warranty was out, I called Mr Electric back, and they resolved the problem in short order (they had to order a part), completing the repair in just a few days. Their charge was quite reasonable. I've had no further problems.

I called them to give me an estimate. (This was a few years ago, when we were doing a bathroom remodel.) They came on time, they were very professional, and their estimate was $2000.00!!!! I found a local electrician who ended up doing the job for $400.00 instead. I would not call them again, unless you had no other option and were prepared to overpay.
