It was time for yearly tune-up service on my A/C units, so I called Capital after seeing them on Angie's List.  The technician (Bill Short) was very professional and very thorough.  It took him about ten minutes after his arrival to find a puncture in the clean tubing that started leaking last year. (The company I used last year could not find the leak after two consecutive visits and I was assured it was only due to condensation - I knew they weren't right).  Bill then showed me that one of my outside units was freezing up and determined that this was most likely due to dirt clogging the m-coil on the downstairs unit.  He quoted the price to clean out the coil and as he cleaned it he took before and after photos to show me.  He also found other issues, such as the drain on the upstairs unit needing to be propped up, which he fixed, and also found a ref. line that was not covered at the outside wall and repaired that.  He installed a freeze control on the downstairs unit and told me that the downstairs unit supply and return are not large enough and that I have a 3-ton furnace, 4-ton coil and a 3.5 ton outdoor unit, and that all of these things have made my unit less efficient, but the fixes he made today will help it to run much more efficiently than it has in the past.  I could not be more pleased.  I have lived here for 10 years and have had my units serviced every year, and noone that had ever serviced them before had been as knowledgeable and as thorough as Bill was.  Bill was here for several hours - I sincerely appreciated his attention to detail and hard work.  I feel that the cost of the service I received today was money well-spent.

I have a Generac generator that needed service after a couple of years of neglect on my part.  Capital is a preferred service provider for Generac and I contacted them to schedule an appointment.  The technician who arrived on time had 20 years experience with Generac generators and was very knowledgeable and paitient explaining details to me about the operation and maintenance of my generator.  I had previously contact Sentry Heating and Air and they told me I needed to replace the control board to the tune of about $900.  Capital dispelled that quickly, did a routine service, fired up the generator and told me that the control boards almost never need to be replaced.  Capital also set me up with a yearly service plan to keep me from neglecting the generator moving forward and their prices are better than others in town.  I highly recommend Capital for generator service and needs.

They put in our generator and do a yearly check. They came last year to do a service.  I can't remember the exact date.  They are wonderful. We personally met the owner. The same people always come out. They are due to service our generator soon.

I requested bids/estimates from 3 different companies.  During the estimate process I found out the company that had installed the old system had installed a 3 1/2 AC unit on top of a 3 "ton" furnace.  In doing that they had increased the fan speed to keep the AC unit from freezing up. The first company doing an estimate suggested just the AC unit (4700 + dollars).  The second company wanted to sell me a 4 ton furnace and 3 1/2 ton AC unit ($ 6700+ dollars).  I called Capital based on the Angies List rating............  Tommy Oswalt, the owner/GM returned my call promptly and scheduled a visit.  He came out and quickly determined the same mismatch the others had.  HOWEVER........... he took time to closely examine the duct work sizes and came to the conclusion that the correct size for the house was indeed a 3 ton unit.  He offered to work up an offer for replacing both the AC and furnace with 3 ton units which he (and I) both believed was the original correct size of the system.......... he said that if I went with him he would send out a tech to make detailed measurements to determine EXACTLY was needed from a standpoint and we would proceed from there.  A NOTE HERE: I questioned the second company rep what the correct sizing should be, i. e., wouldn't both units being a 3 ton size work?............ all I got was a "Well, what do you think? question and no action to confirm the sizing.
Tommy's estimate was $4900 TOTAL for installing both a new AC unit AND a furnace, both Trane units, with efficiencies equal to what the other companies had priced.  My wife and I decided to go with Capital based on Tommy's detailed explanations, answers to my questions and attitude.  True to his word he sent out a tech (Tim) to do measurements.  After the study was complete Tommy called me and we went over the findings.  Sure enough the 3 ton units were the correct sizing.  I also asked about an air cleaner for the system.   He said he would put one in for another $400.......... normally an $800 job if done later.  Based on that we scheduled the work.  It was done the same week.
The techs who arrived (Michael and Jason) were clean, well groomed, and very polite.  Both were dressed in neat Capital uniforms.  They started at 8:30 AM and were finished by 4:30 PM the same day.  They kept us advised of the progress of the work through the day.  After finishing Jason took me on a "walk-through" of the work, explaining what they had done, and what I needed to do in terms of maintenance.
The system has performed flawlessly since installed.  We received a very nice follow up letter  from Tommy Oswalt thanking us for choosing them. My wife and I were VERY impressed with the caliber of management and employees we interfaced with.   I recommend Capital Heating and Cooling as an HVAC provider.  We will be using them again.

I selected 4 companies to provide estimates for the work. One company
was already booked and did not bid.
From the 3 estimates I received, Central Heating and Air, provided the most thorough estimate and took the most time to talk with me about the details of the work to be completed. They were not the lowest dollar amount of the 3 bids, but for the type and quality of equipment we decided on and the amount of labor involved, it was well worth a couple of hundred dollars to have all of my questions answered, to be treated with respect, and have the confidence that if I ever need to call them back, they will stand behind their work.
3 vans arrived promptly at 7am to begin the installation and removing the old equipment. There were 4 or 5 installers and they worked together very well. Extremely polite, not a rude word or raised voice all day. These guys are professionals that definitely take pride in their work.
The new units were powered up and tested by mid afternoon. They checked the ductwork, and monitored the systems from end to end, assuring that every part of the installation was completed correctly. They were very neat!  They left no evidence of the old system, no sawdust, metal pieces, extra insulation, or pieces of tape.
The installation was completed in one day.  That was 9 months ago, and I have used both the heat and air conditioning extensively.  I am still very pleased with the work and with the equipment.

We were having air conditioning problems and had another company come out for a service call. They said unit was dead & needed replaced but their price seemed high and pressuring us to make a quick decision. I called my son and he suggested Angie's List for a second quote. I found Capital and called them and explained the situation. Tommy was there within the hour. He did a thorough inspection of the existing system, determined the correct size of the replacement unit should be a 4 ton based on duct work, square foot, provided a easy to read estimate and the price was $3,000 less than the other company. .The other company didn't even check the existing duct work or  square footage. Wow! Tommy told us when they could install the unit, his crew showed up early, installed the unit, CLEANED UP & carried away the old unit in one day as promised. These guys were the most professional and well organized technicians I have had the pleasure to deal with. Can't thank them enough for doing such an outstanding job and would definitely use them again. I would recommend them to anybody looking for some good honest folks, because they are hard to find now days and it's not often you run across such a conscientious company. I will be using Angie's list again based on this experience.

Tommy came out initialy to assess the old system and provide an estimate for a replacement.   He took his time going over things in detail and determining the best solution for our situation.   His detailed estimate was provided via email later the same day.
Tommy's crew was very professional and it was obvious they take pride in their work.   All work was done exactly as it was originally planned and completed in a timely manner and neat and clean fashion.   Bottom line is that all work was done exactly as one should expect it to be done.
Tommy's estimate was very accurate with no surprises in the final invoice.   We are extremely pleased with the result and will certainly be calling Capital for any future HVAC needs.

I am writing to "THANK" Capital Heating and Air for the Excellent Job they did putting my new Trane A/C in at 7154 Cahaba Valley Road (Exclusively Ballet & Dance). It was one hot summer day July 23, 2012 and our A/C breathed it last breath of COLD AIR. After looking at Angie's List I called Capital Heating and Air because of their excellent rating. Amazingly they were there that same afternoon and gave me an estimate. My big question to them was what kind of turn around time would there be because I needed A/C in my business ASAP. July 25 prep was complete and by July 28th I was up and running. The work was done so quickly considering it was the height of the summer season! Was not expecting that kind of turn around time at all. I was expecially impressed with the personal attention to the job by the owner's presence on the first and last day. I was also impressed by the quality of the employees, who were extremely competent and professional in every way. THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE.
Best regards,

Our main floor a/c went out and it was time to replace the unit as it was 20 years old.  I set up 5 appointments for contractors to review our existing unit and price replacements.  Tommy arrived on time to look over our unit on July 6th.  He measured our windows and took into account the placement and size of our registers when sizing the replacement unit.  He provided his estimate via email on a Sunday afternoon.  The estimate was thorough and included a one day installation guarantee.  He promised that he would work us in this week for installation as we have an 11 month old baby.
On Tuesday, he called to say he had availability.  The guys, Mike and Jason, arrived when promised just before lunch.  They worked cleanly and professionally.  They stayed until 8:30pm on Tuesday to finish the job, showed us their work, answered any questions, and gave us the associated paperwork.
Capital provided us the assurance of a quality installation at the best price of the five contractors that came out.  After two days, we can tell a difference in the cooling of our main floor.

From pricing to final puchlist, the experience was great.  Tommy came out when he said he would to price unit.  A few phone calls later, the installers were on-onsite promptly and did a one day installation as I was told they would.  Installers arrived in clean company marked vehicles, in uniform, wore shoe covers any time they were in the home.  They were professional and courteous.  The quality of the workmanship was great.  Equipment fastened and secured.  Equipment was paird and all pieces matched.  They explained and installed equipment for easy access.  Kept me informed as the work progresssed.  Installed misc. and incidental items such as low voltage cables, exterior power shutoff, exterior conduit that I had not expected without additional charge.  Exterior unit was installed including minor re-grading and some landscape pebbles to make it look like it had always been there.  Debris, old unit was removed and the work area cleaned and sweep.  I highly reccomend Capital Heating and Cooling.  I found and used them becuase of Angies list listing and member reviews.  By the way, a week later, and I am convinced this was the best investment that I have ever made in my home.

Everything went well from making the appointment to completion of the work.  The receptionist was very friendly and scheduled an appointment within a very reasonable time frame, even though this is a busy season for them with the weather getting cooler.  The repairman was on time and performed the fall maintenance on our heating system.  He left no mess at all.  He was clean and professional.  The pricing was reasonable.  Capital has given us good service in the past and we will continue to use them.

Great service...prompt to do the estimate and men were professional.  Used Angie's List coupon that saved me $250.  Quote included a guaranteed 1 day installation time, which was wonderful during our 100 degree weather in July 2011.  Tommy put 4 men on the job so that it would be completed in 1 day.  Saved me from having to take off work another day, and made my decision easier.  I had gotten a quote from another A rated HVAC contractor on Angie's list.  Price between the 2 was the same, but install was done in 1/2 the time because he doubled the men assigned.  Other contractor told me it would be a 2 day job.

He also "topped off" my freon to keep me cool during the few days before he could do the install.
Told me about the rebate I would get from Alagasco, and had the 0% finance for 12 months.
