In our first meeting, Fred Smith described their team approach @ FSG that was supposed to provide responsive service to their clients through the entire process of selling and buying a home. Responsive service was not my experience with FSG. Early on, I realized my agent was ineffective, inexperienced, and disorganized. Although I made more than one request to Fred Smith to supervise/mentor his agent or otherwise step in and help me, he did nothing to rectify the problems. I had to fend for myself through negotiations while selling and buying my homes. It was a terrible experience and very surprising since all past dealings with Realty South in Crestline were great. FSG really let me down during the process.

We received multiple offers for over your asking price within 24 hours of your home being on the market, we feel that this is an above average response, and you decided to move forward with an offer of $10k in cash over your listing price. There were multiple repair requests by the buyer that you agreed to complete. We met multiple contractors at your home to get the best price and so that you would not have to take time off from your job. Concerning the warranty repair, the company used is contracted out and we therefore we have no control over what they cover and what they do not. The agent that you chose worked diligently for you and has several years of experience, and took care of every aspect of your transaction exactly as they should. We were also able to help you find a new home in a very short time frame and were able to get early possession before your loan was ready, so as to avoid the cost of moving twice. The seller of that home offered their direct phone to you, to arrange to complete repair requests at your convenience. As stated before, we strive on exceeding our client's expectations and wish you felt that way too but appreciate your opinion."

Despite restrictions upon my wife and I's scheduled visit to Birmingham, Fred Smith was extremely helpful in assisting us "soup to nuts" (i.e. from finding the house through the closing).  He was attentive in addressing our needs and listened to all of our home purchase goals during the process.  As new residents to Greater Birmingham, we could not have been more lucky and satisfied than working with the Fred Smith Group.

(Note:  I had no idea what the cost of service ended up being, hence the $1.00)  My wife and I used the Fred Smith Group for the purchase of our new home.  Fred, and his staff, were among the most accommodating people with whom I've ever done business.  They remain on the cutting edge of market intelligence, and as Fred is a Birmingham native, he is acutely aware of what to look for in home searches.  Honestly, dealing with him was completely effortless.  Quite literally, there was no bump in the process, no surprise at the end, and the daunting reality of home buying was rendered nothing more than a simple meeting to sign papers.  
He, and his team, were constantly in contact with us, letting us know where we were in the process, and that went a long way to ease our minds.  We were so impressed with them, that we recommended him to my father to sell an investment property here in BHM as well.  Needless to say, Fred got the job done and in WAY less time than I ever anticipated.
There are only a few people/companies that I am willing to vouch for, and the Fred Smith Group is absolutely one of them.
