Not well. The owner of this company was contacted and, because he was going out of town, passed us on to his manager. That manager was to call me back immediately to set-up an appointment. After waiting 5 days and no phone call from the Manage, we called the owner back. The Manager did finally call us the next day. He set-up an appointment to come to the house two days later. He was to be there first thing in the morning but called and said he couldn't make it because he was running late but said he would be here at 3 pm. To be able to meet him at that time I rearranged my entire afternoon to be here at 3 pm. The manager did not appear until 4:45 pm. When he got here he did not want to talk to me about what I wanted done in my yard, not what my expectations were. At the end of that visit, he said he would email me an estimate. The estimate was promised to me by the next day, a Thursday. By the next Monday, 5 days later, July 1, 2013, I sent an email reminding him and, interestingly, got the quote by 10:30 am that day, BUT with no explanation of why it was late.
The Quote itself consisted of 5 incomplete sentences, and 2 very high prices, and did not make a bit of sense. Considering I asked him for quotes for 3 different items, pruning, mulching, and tree and stump removal, and got 2 prices, one over $1000 and one over $600, and no explanation of what the price quotes covered, I wrote a very detailed return email, copying the owner, requesting further explanation of the estimate....
It is now Thursday, July 18, 2013, 17 days later, and still no communication from the Manager nor the Owner. My partner, who knows the owner, even called the owner again and still has had no response.
It is quite clear they are not interested in my business as it should be quite clear I will never work with them nor make a positive recommendation for them.
Furthermore, it is quite clear that they are not good, honest business people with any sort of business ethics. The easy solution for them would have been to explain that they just couldn't handle my job (for what ever reason(s)). I would have been a bit mystified but I would have understood.
Additionally, I would suggest to them that they value their clients & prospective client's time as much as they value their own. And, finally, if they want to continue to be a successful small business and maybe even grow in the future, they should learn how to be respectful and learn how to conduct themselves in a true business-like manner.
