"had an issue with my refrid, called the company , got a fairly prompt response, scheduled a technician to come out the next morning.He came, diagnosed the problem( which involved defrosting some in my freezer), he collected $90 for the service call , he told us that we needed two parts ( control board) and defrost thermostat. we were quoted $195 for control board, $75 for defrost timer. , Total ( $270)then an additional $117 for the 30 min it will take to install both parts, for a grand total of $387 . the next day, I checked the price of the parts myself at Sears.com and other places on line, and I found that i could get the parts for about $150. I in turn called my technician , who told me that I could get my own parts, but that they really didnt install parts unless they got them. when asked why there was such a large markup on the parts, the technician told me that " thats how they make a profit" , I then nicely told him that I did not want to pay the additional $120 in " markup" fees when I can order the parts myself. I asked him if he knew of anyone that could just do the labor. He gave me the name of a " friend" who tells me he would charge $175 to do the 30 min worth of work. At this point, I am getting frustrated obviously, and initially I was told that whatever we paid in diagnostic charges ( $90) would be applied to the repair. So Im thinking, I will come out better if I just pay the $117 they they quoted originally for the labor minus the $90 we had already paid ( and I get my own parts ). So I called the company owner, it took me 3 days of calling and leaving messages to get him on the phone. ( he had already heard from his dispatchers that I was upset, so he avoided the call) He basically tells me that they have to make a profit , as all businesses do, and that if I want to get my own parts then they couldnt do the repair, I questioned the fact that I had already paid $90 for the inital diagnostic, etc, he said , " well we will just give it back to you" so tired of dealing with this company, I said " Ill come pick it up at your office", he then explains that the office is in another state, no where near me, he just has a bunch of technicians all over the nation and he is not local despite the fact that there is a physical address in the phone book, near my home. So to get my money back, I had to put a stop payment on my check, ( costing me $30) and granted, I still have a fridge in need of repair!!! STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY , THE OWNER IS HARD TO WORK WITH, AND IS ONLY OUT TO MAKE AS MUCH PROFIT AS POSSIBLE.!!!!!
