"The facts are: The technician found that the gas valve was sticking - there is no such sensor that detects "air leaking". He was told that the gas valve would be expensive and because of the age of the furnace he might consider a new furnace. It's his house and his money. We NEVER tell a customer he HAS to replace. We state the facts and let the customer decide. We do charge $75 to diagnose a problem. His furnace was diagnosed, his options were given to him, and the technician left. We also give credit for the service call toward the repair but it is policy to collect the service call fee on the first call because of cases like this. I'm sorry we couldn't repair his problem for the service call fee but we can't stay in business long when we give away hundreds of dollars in parts. The only way to fix his problem was to replace the needed part or replace the furnace. He was given those options. There is nothing else we could do for him other than donate the needed parts, which after this review, is not very likely."
"The only accuracy in this review is that he called. It was on the morning of 6/7/13. I told him I could get to him around mid to late afternoon. He said that was fine. There was absolutely no negative tone from either of us, as he described. I called him at 2:37 pm(That was not late as he said. It was right on time, if not earlier) to let him know I was almost there. He then informed me that he called someone else, even after he agreed to my appointment time. He didn't bother to call and tell me that his unit had already been repaired. His actions cost me over 20 miles of driving and more than 45 minutes of wasted time. Was I mad as he described? Absolutely, but I didn't hang up on him. I asked why he didn't call me to cancel and he hung up on me. I did call him the next day to simply ask what went wrong, so I could prevent the same situation in the future. I left a voicemail which he has not returned. I guess he expected to be put on a pedestal and placed in front of all my other customers. I have never had a complaint about any aspect of my service, especially about being on time, which I was for this job. I did exactly as I promised. If he would have kept his appointment as he agreed to, he would be another very satisfied customer of Haynes Heating & Air Conditioning."
