?He worked around my schedule which delayed the project some. He was good about contacting me so that I knew he hadn't forgotten and hadn't scheduled someone else in my spot.
?Dave is meticulous and very detail oriented. He repaired many minor issues after consulting with me.
?He and his son cleaned up after the project.
?The cost of the total job was very reasonable.
?When he was delayed on getting to the job, he called to let me know when he would be arriving.
?The job was finished in a timely manner.
"The job had some issues that came up due to the flat torch down roof on garage outer drip edge area. There were spots that had leaks that water had gotten under the roofing material and traveled to an area over the door inside the home that leads from the garage. It had been slowly leaking for some time, rotting out the sheeting, studs ,and beam over door. I removed the old tar bead that had been put along the outer edge and put super sticky and flexible product called "Flexable seal" which is gunnable out of a caulking gun at -30 to 200 degrees, it is the best stuff I have found out there. Just for good measures I used pressure treaded lumber to repair the area. She had other small fix its and we took care of a lot of detail problems along with deck rail post that were very wobbly. I and happy that she was thrilled that the repairs were done right and should not have any problems in the future."
He installed a 12 foot beam under the sagging joist area in the crawl space. He used pier blocks with adjustable bases. We continue to see floor leveling improvements with the settling of the home due to the extra support beam with no damage to existing floor materials above. It has also greatly improved the stability of our multi-level home.
His crew was excellent also and the work was completed very timely and at a reasonable cost. I plan to hire him in the future for other large house projects. The actual work performed came in under the estimate he provided. Thank you Dave and son!
"thank you for the review, it seems the more reviews I get the less amount of customers take the time to give one, probably due to the fact that they may think I do not need anymore since I am up to 96. I always look forward to my customers to spend a minute or two to write up a review about their experience with my company, Jensen construction, keep them coming, thanks"
"thanks for providing a review. Hopefully we can do your job when you are ready."
"This is a return customer, my son David and I have done two previous jobs for these people. Always nice to have customers call me back to do more jobs for them, and it goes to show if a company does a good job at a fair price, you will always be in demand."
"We remodeled her up bath and basement bath with new cabinets, tops, flooring, jetted tub upstairs, shower pan downstairs, after removing tub, turned the sauna into walk- in closet, sheetrock work, mud, tape , texture, paint, new bath fan, tub surround, tile on shower walls, new sinks , faucets, drains, shut off valves. These folks were a joy to work with and we saved them a lot of money verses the big bath remodel contractors. We will be doing more work on the house in the future."
"small jobs like this one are not a problem. I get booked up pretty deep on my schedule, but some of the small jobs can be squeezed in between the ones that last a week or two. Even one day jobs I do not mind doing."
Dave's work looks good and it seems like it will hold up well. The fence and the damp proofing have only been through part of a winter so far, but so far-so good. Would definitely recommend giving Dave a call.
"thank you for the positive review, always nice to read that my customers are happy with the jobs I complete for them. I try to explain verbally and write out in the quote, the details of how and what materials are to be used to do the job, also the reasons why particular materials have to be used, eg: durability ect. I try to give options on how we can do a job different ways, that may save money or have different looks, a customer may like better."
"we had to get under a front deck and back deck, that were close to ground level, remove some short posts and jack up numerous areas. Also added a few framing straps to some that did not have any, which could be a problem during an earthquake. It was a pretty quick and easy fix."
"don't think I did this job, must be someone else's review"
"thank you for the review, not much said about the work we did, but it looks like you were satisfied with the job. thanks again for taking the time to respond."
"Remodeling, sometimes takes longer that thought. Running into issues that are not always seen, then dealing with them, I call them surprises. This job did not have many, buy the guy that put the windows in before had hand nailed the outside trim and frames with long galvanized nails every 4 inches, surprise! Just have to laugh, it was actually a fun job and the lady was very nice. We made sure everything was done to her satisfaction. The heat bill should go down quite a bit in, this old house.."
Dave did a great job of communicating with us and keeping us informed as to when he could be expected to do the work. His quote was very reasonable and although he encountered some rot problems on the deck, he and his crew put in the extra time and effort to address the additional work at a very reasonable additional charge.
Also, the person he recommended to stain our deck did an excellent job at a reasonable price.
"glad we were able to get your job done before the cold weather set in. Saved the deck that, if it did not get the repairs and re-stain, it would have had to be entirely torn down and rebuild in a few more years. So I the long run we save the customer a lot of money, which everybody seems to enjoy. Thanks for the nice review. This customer now would like us to remodel his bathroom, which proves if you do god work, work finds you, which is how I conduct business"
"thank you for the review, and picture of the deck we rebuilt for you. The job turned out great, we added a second lower level, additional rails, and a wide staircase. Glad you had us do the job for you and it was very pleasant working with you on this project."
"we pride ourselves in quality work and angies list customers seem to agree. Some jobs, like a lot or remodels are full of hidden surprizes. This one had more rotten wood than expected, but we just had to replace some more material to get it right. My price on materials went up a bit and I stuck to the same bid price as quoted for labor. Most of the time I supply the customer with receipts for materials, so I don't have to mark up anything, or pad my bid if we end up little short on some items. People seem to like the fact, that they pay for what is needed for all materials, no more."
"thank you for the review, always nice to have the customer happy with the final product. I have been doing a lot of decks this year, nice to work outside when the weather is nice. We sometimes spend the early mornings getting materials for jobs or looking at jobs folks want me to bid on, hard to make time for it all, since I do not have a big crew. Sometimes easier to catch people in the early evenings to look at their projects after working all day, mostly I reserve every other Saturday for checking out new jobs to bid. At this point in the season I still have other outdoor work to do and an still booked out quite a bit, so call early so I can get you on my list, because at this time of the summer I am about to end taking on more decks. It is time to start moving towards inside work, although I still will be doing short jobs outdoor in the winter, so long as it is not below zero degrees. I love doing custom interior trim/ finish, and cabinets carpentry, I have done a lot of it on new custom homes for over 25 years"
"thanks for the return work, the job was small but I don't mind some of these one day wonders, as I call them. It helps fill in time between big jobs and not so hard to fit into my busy schedule. I also appreciate it when I get calls from customers that got my # from a friend or work associate of theirs as recommendation to have me do a job for them. When you do good work word gets around, just as if a company does poor work that will get around. I think I will stick to doing excellent work."
Dave and his crew arrived when he said they would and they completed the deck much quicker than I expected. They stained the pressure treated portion of the deck to match the color of the Trex. They kept the work area clean during the construction and didn't leave a scrap of garbage when they left.
I appreciate a job well done by true craftsman that care about the quality of their work!!
"thanks for putting your faith in us to do your job to satisfaction. The two toned deck turned out good, I personally like the light brown trex boards on the deck, that match the house paint and the dark brown rails and facia, that match the house trim color. I let the customer chose what he wanted to do, and the two toned deck is a first, usually decks are all the same color, but I may suggest two tone option to others in the future."
"This deck or decks turned out really cool. We built a deck approx. 10 feet off the ground coming off a mst bedroom ext door, also a deck approx. 6 feet off the ground coming off a dining room slider door. The taller deck was built stronger on the south end so a hot tub can be set on it, the two decks have a stairway from the top deck to the lower deck, also a parallel stairway to the back yard. We installed trex rain escapes between the joists, that channel all the water that comes through the deck to the outside edge of the deck giving dry area under the entire area, including the stairway from the upper and lower decks. I went back to the job a few weeks later to talk to the customer and he had asphalt paving under all of it installed, which gave him a whole other dry patio at ground level 12 ft x 32 ft long. thanks for the review and the opportunity do build your decks the way you wanted it to be, happy to hear that it turned out better that expected."
Dave and his crew (the other two Dave's) went above and beyond, our carpet was the original carpet from 1979; it was very worn. Our floor was not level; they leveled our floor and took the time, more time than they had scheduled to do a stupendous job. They also repaired jobs not done right by other contractors. When they spliced the trim after removing the fireplace I could not tell where it was spliced. When the fireplace was removed they put up dry wall and also re-pop-corned our ceiling you almost cannot tell where the work was done and when I repaint the line where the new dry wall was put in will not show. I also am the envy of our neighborhood as when Dave put laminate in our front closet where the access to our crawlspace is he also put a latch for the crawlspace.
We had also asked Dave to fix the steps to our shed he took the time to level them and disconnect them from the floor of the shed. I am amazed at the quality workmanship every time I go into the shed.
Also we were having an issue with our screen door that was pulling off the hinges Dave fixed this without us even asking him to.
I have also by word of mouth recommended this company to my neighbors and friends.
I really appreciated the job that Dave and his crew did.
I apologize for getting this review in so late.
"the house did have a lot of sub floor issues, no sub floor adhesive, squeeks and loose sheeting. we re-nailed most all of the sub floor and we jacked up and beefed up the floor joists by the entry, used a lot of leveling floor patch in several area, to get the floor flat before installing laminate flooring. Other than that the job went smooth and turned out great, they love it"
"Glad you are happy with the work. When I went to this house I suggested taking out the 12 ft x12ft. drop ceiling. The customer had not thought about doing that, so I said why not have that extra one foot of height? They liked the idea, since the the height was only 7 ft from the floor. The area above the cabinets with the cracked glass plastic panels and 4 ft. florescent lights had never been finished with sheetrock mud or texture. We finished it off and installed 9 led flush mount can lights, which looked great and put out plenty of light and do not use much electricity."
"a positive review is always nice and better late than never. This job was a normal standard fence job with a few custom touches on the gate walkway area. I did this job two years ago. a lot of customers have been calling me all summer. unfortunately for some they want there job done right away, and I am always booked up 2 months out in the summer. Winter is coming and I am almost to the point that any work needed to be done before the ground freezes I can't get in my schedule. Work that requires to be done outside in the winter does not bother me much, just the froze ground that stops it. so call early for any work, since I am busy year round"
"I don't remember talking to this potential customer. He may be talking about another Jensen company. I try my hardest to respond to every customer, weather I can do the job or not. I often refer customers to other contractors that have the time on their schedule, since I am always booked out 2 months it seems. I always tell people, when they call how far out I am. From there, I can come look at a job, bid the job, then put the job on my schedule, if they agree to the amount of time to wait. I keep all of my "look" lists, and just went over the last five months, and could not find this customer to call back at all, who knows may have deleted a voice mail by accident, perhaps they did not call the correct #. Perhaps they should have called me again to get back to my company. Don't think I deserve my first "f" out of 82 reviews for someone I never even talked to."
"I was given a review from this customer a long time ago"
"the customer originally wanted to replace range hood, so I mentioned the option to put in a over the range microwave. She had not know there was such a appliance with the fan and light built in, she opted for the microwave. We had hard wired power to the old range hood, so we just ran the wire into a new cut in box with outlet receptical for the microwave and hook into exsisting ductwork that vented out the ceiling. I also install a more powerful, quiet bath fan with night light and light. Put a new programmable thermostat in so she could set her heat temps as needed, since she works out of town for extended periods. Nice person to work with and the job went smooth"
"thanks for the review, the job went pretty smooth. Customer had a lot of different ideas, so we just drew out some sketches and laid out some sample blocks of mantle side view designs and trim options so she could better visualize what the final product would look like. That changed a little after she had the chance to think it over overnight before we proceeded the next day. In the end it helped her get what she would be happy with for the next 20 years or so. The roof was an addition on the back of the house with a torch down flat roof which was coming off bad in some areas and worn out overall. It only had 2x6 rafters with only r-19 insulation in the ceiling. We installed 2inchs of blue board styrafoam panels on plywood roof, after the old torch down was removed, which gave it another r-10 of insulation value. Install a one piece rubber roof over the roof and 3 ft. up the pitched portion of the house to get away from any possible ice dam seepage. So in the end it saved the roof from future water damage and condensation problems that the mention were having at times, the roof would start rotting from the inside out it we would not have added the blue board to the top of it. I'm happy to point out and explain any problems I see at a home that can be brought to the homeowners attention. By the the, way here is a funny problem we also fixed at this house, I noticed the flapper for the bath fan ducting on the outside was missing, just a pipe sticking out. I told my son to put his hand over it as I turned on the fan, no air coming out, I told the owner that she probably had a old birds nest in it. We went up in attic to check pipe, and sure enough there was, took it out with long coat hanger and installed it back on wall with new outdoor vent with closing flapper. Funny but the bath would seem to have running fan but doing nothing, causing moisture problems in bathroom"
