"Thank you. Kevin Coogan"
"Very sorry for that chain of responses. Based on this and other clients' remarks we have taken steps to track response times to customers. In addition, Ryan is no longer with Cityscape Landscape. Kevin Coogan"

Ed and the Cityscape team were great to work with. Ed walked us through design considerations and available landscaping materials and exceeded all expectations. Couldn't be happier with the service and final product. We continue to receive great feedback from all of our neighbors regarding how great our yard and front pavers look
They provided a great design with attention to our requests.
Adapted as needed.
Installed in one day and flawlessly.
Came in right on budget.
We hope to use them again.
Despite the challenges, Ed would not give up. He sourced a civil engineer to evaluate the water problem and design a solution. We had to weather the winter of 2015 with our entry way torn up and covered in plastic; when Spring came, Ed and his team were back, sorting out a solution. Finally, a second sump pump was installed, immediately solving our years-old water problem. Now assured the plantings would not drown, Ed's team quickly and elegantly transformed our entry way into a charmingly landscaped courtyard, complete with park bench, trellis, and tree. Thank you, thank you, thank you! In addition, some of the plants had not survived the winter of 2015 and were replaced at no charge. We highly recommend Cityscape!
We appraised Matt of our problem and over several email and telephone exchanges over a week, he hung in there - even though some of our changes in order to stay within budget but still maintaining the basis of what we wanted, he didn't lose his cool. After discussing the changes and the budget with his boss, we were able to arrive at a compromise on design and scope but not the quality and type of materials.
Another associate/part owner, Kevin, called and respectfully requested to come to our home to review the project and get exact parameters, measurements and location of certain items - all to ensure that we had exactly what we wanted, without compromise or change in materials - and to make sure that the job was exactly as envisioned. He made the request during the weekend, explaining he had other commitments but wanted to swing by and see if he could survey the property. We approved and he was there on time after confirming with a telephone call. He finished his business within an hour, and while doing, pointed out certain aspects of the job and even agreed to some additions at no charge. I must add that he was meticulous in mapping out our project, asking questions, listening to our concerns and not leaving anything to chance. I was very impressed with his preparation. Example: There was a slight misunderstanding about the project drawing/layout. The one he had originally was much different that what we wanted. When I pointed it out to him he immediately asked for the drawing that I had provided during an email exchange. He took it, incorporated it into his plotting and completed his calculations - all down to the last detail.
On the day of the installation the crew arrived on time with all the required hardware, machinery and materials. They set to work and were not shy about confirming what we wanted and where through Matt, who was overseeing the project. This crew did not stop (with the exception of a lunch break) and continued to work until they completed the job over a period of 8 hours! Given what they had to do I was certain they would have to come back to finish up the next day.
You could tell that these men were good at what they do, attention to detail - and they did extras. Example: A water feature that was supported by a bricked up rectangular wall had to be removed, excavated and then graded for the installation of the pavers. This item was sitting on a concrete foundation reinforced with rebar. They painstakingly dismantled the structure, retained enough undamaged bricks to complete an unfinished enclosure at the rear of my property that was unsightly - especially with the new improvements. This crew completed the wall with the left over bricks and made it look brand new - at no extra charge.
The patio area was graded, gravel installed, compacted and leveled, torpedo sand installed, leveled and then the pavers were meticulously installed - paver by paver - with a border design that my spouse and I specified. The shape of the patio was quite irregular and somewhat uneven. Yet this crew managed to make it look beautiful. They then removed the existing grass and installed new sod. They cleaned up the site and then went on their way.
As difficult as it was to find a good contractor that was genuinely willing to actually work with us, it turned out to be a great experience. Kudos to Matt and the company. We learned that they have landscaping contracts with the City of Chicago. We had seen their trucks and employees at work over the years but didn't make the connection until we spoke with Matt. It seems that this is one of those large companies that is willing to do a good job for the individual family - and at a reasonable price with quality service.
I also think that they're a little pricey - I would get multiple quotes from a couple of landscapers to compare prices for shrubbery and trees. We got a quote for artificial grass and he only brought one sample which I thought was weird because if you're going to spend $3000 on artificial grass, I feel like you should be able to choose, not just provide one sample.
"[Member name removed] I am very sorry it took so long to get you an estimate. Six weeks ago our main phone was ringing every 2 hours. By the end of the week it was ringing every 10 minutes. We got insanely busy performing estimates. I am sorry you had to wait so much longer than you were told you would have to. There are several synthetic turf suppliers in the market today. I believe that the best turf for a residential installation is XGrass Luxury Pro. I have been installing this turf for the last 3 years. 3 years ago I had XGrass mail me samples of their entire offering. They sent me approximately 30 samples and I laid them out on a table. I asked a few people to choose which one felt and looked the best...everyone chose Luxury Pro. I want my staff to offer the best products to our customers. That is why Ryan Hall only brought XGrass Luxury Pro with when he met with you. Its very important to be competitive. Please let me know how much higher my company is compared to the other bidders and I will see what I can do to earn your business. Thank You Brian Coogan"
Very good quality work. Completed quickly once work began. Cleaned up.
Kevin Coogan responded to my Angies List email and said they were busy catching up but would contact me.
As of 7/21/14 I have not been contacted.
The job went extremely well. Workmanship was excellent. Though their bid was highest of four by 15%, I engaged Cityscape Landscape for their consultative approach to the design and their flexibility to adjust as the project progressed. In addition, they demonstrated a very helpful savvy for working within tight city properties and in consideration of all the typical obstacles encountered in the city.
The Unilock product itself is very high quality and is available through an unlimited number of providers, but the best experience comes with a company patient and creative enough to make suggestions, rather than simply take orders from a homeowner. Brian Coogan is very good to work with and was extremely helpful suggesting ideas and pleasantly adjusting to changing decisions, as I learned and the project progressed.
This project was for my front yard and public way. I plan to engage Cityscape for a second project in the back yard including additional planters and lighting. Cityscapes' work definitely created additional value for my single family home.
