Great service. They
delivered and installed the electric garage door opener we purchased from
them. The garage door opener was on sale
and we got it for a very good price.

First of all we bought after a 2 hour sales presentation at my home. I guess I was not well versed in prices, so I was leery as to whether I was getting a good price or not. Sears gives you two options for furnaces. Kenmore or Carrier. In my case, the Carrier is about $275 more than the Kenmore price. Well, we signed up after the presentation. I would suggest having a couple of other estimates in your pocket before letting Sears in the door for you own peace of mind on price.. I give the overall a A, but a C for price because I'm not sure it was the best price.
But Sears does a price match with Home Depot (Lennox) and with Lowe. So if you can find a lower price there in 14 days after you sign, they will match the price. (Note they will only give you 15% of the difference with any other deal.. not worth the effort after the fact in my book). But I did get an estimate for Home Depot, and Sears matched it, and dropped my price by $150. So they were back in 2 days to issue my credit. Very honest, in my book.
The furnace was installed by a local HVAC company. They were very prompt, very clean , very professional. Everything went very smoothly. It was a straight replacement. We installed a Kenmore Furnace. This is comparable to a Heil furnace and made by a division of Carrier. Note consumer reports states that furnaces are all pretty much the same, made to 2 or 3 major companies. The difference is in the analysis of what you need and the installation. Of either of these are bad you will have problems, if not, things should be good.
One comment. I did have a problem with the new thermostat they installed. It had a defective and quot;menuand quot; button. I called Sears on the Monday morning after the install. I called at 10AM. At 10:05 I got a call back from the Sears install manager. He said he would take care of the problem. At 1PM a got a call from the furnace installer that he would be at my home in 20 minutes to install a new thermostat.. Which he did. I could not ask for better service from Sears.

The doors went smoothly and were installed in about 5-6 hours with no problems. The kitchen was done over a period of 4 1/2 days with no problems. The kitchen was done by one guy who taped/sealed the kitchen off floor to ceiling from the rest of the house while he was sanding the cabinets smooth. The counters were installed by a local counter company here in Milwaukee that is a certified Corian installer by DuPont (I was told it is a patent thing). The Sears employee was an independent contractor who only works for Sears who has been with them about 20 years. He has even refaced his own projects from the 80's. The price is a little steep as far as the kitchen goes at $17,500 but I think it was worth it since I don't have an abundance of time to strip hardwood cabinets and refinish them. Plus I have 2 and 4 year olds that would just love to "help" me. Definitly satisfied.

The guys that installed were very nice, however, there was a disconnect between the sales people and the workers. Sales pitch included that the production manager had all of this experience, however, he never actually came to the work site. Included in our estimate was to create ventilation under the soffit vents including taking out nesting that may be blocking the ventilation. The workers initially only drilled 3 small holes under each vent, but the holes were blocked by nesting in some areas. Based on the estimate, we contacted the production manager, who was a little rude, however, did relay the information back to the work site employees. They did ask us what we wanted and how big the cut should be. In addition, they were supposed to have replaced any rotten wood. They indicated that none of the wood had been rotten (though there was one section that we knew was) and less than a year later, the trimming started to pull away from the wood (in the section that was rotten). There was a 1 year warranty on the work, so someone came out immediately to repair. He said that the wood was not rotted and that this sometimes happened due to the climate. Repaired with silicon or something to "glue" together. This should not have happened based on the cost and supposed quality of the material.

THE SUBCONTRACTOR WAS QUITE PROFESSIONAL. HE INSTALLED THE DOOR OPENER IN A SHORT TIME AND POINTED OUT ITS FEATURES WHEN HE WAS DONE. I CONSIDER THE PRICE WE PAID FOR THIS WORK TO BE QUITE REASONABLE. WE'D DEFINITELY USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.
