Great service. They delivered and installed the electric garage door opener we purchased from them. The garage door opener was on sale and we got it for a very good price.

First of all we bought after a 2 hour sales presentation at my home. I guess I was not well versed in prices, so I was leery as to whether I was getting a good price or not. Sears gives you two options for furnaces. Kenmore or Carrier. In my case, the Carrier is about $275 more than the Kenmore price. Well, we signed up after the presentation. I would suggest having a couple of other estimates in your pocket before letting Sears in the door for you own peace of mind on price.. I give the overall a A, but a C for price because I'm not sure it was the best price. But Sears does a price match with Home Depot (Lennox) and with Lowe. So if you can find a lower price there in 14 days after you sign, they will match the price. (Note they will only give you 15% of the difference with any other deal.. not worth the effort after the fact in my book). But I did get an estimate for Home Depot, and Sears matched it, and dropped my price by $150. So they were back in 2 days to issue my credit. Very honest, in my book. The furnace was installed by a local HVAC company. They were very prompt, very clean , very professional. Everything went very smoothly. It was a straight replacement. We installed a Kenmore Furnace. This is comparable to a Heil furnace and made by a division of Carrier. Note consumer reports states that furnaces are all pretty much the same, made to 2 or 3 major companies. The difference is in the analysis of what you need and the installation. Of either of these are bad you will have problems, if not, things should be good. One comment. I did have a problem with the new thermostat they installed. It had a defective and quot;menuand quot; button. I called Sears on the Monday morning after the install. I called at 10AM. At 10:05 I got a call back from the Sears install manager. He said he would take care of the problem. At 1PM a got a call from the furnace installer that he would be at my home in 20 minutes to install a new thermostat.. Which he did. I could not ask for better service from Sears.

Description of Work: New roof garage and house. New siding sofetts and gutters on the house. 3 new windows. Mark L, the salesman, was fantastic. Came to the house and wrote it all up, financed us right there, and followed up through the entire process. Installers were clean, punctual and professional. A great experience.

We did not select Sears as a solution.
Description of Work: We own Kenmore Elite appliances and are very pleased with them. When we needed a new furnace and AC, Sears provided a free estimate. The person who came did a very thorough job in assessing our needs and presenting a solution. However, the price was quite high and he indicated that this price was only for that day. I felt pressured to purchase. We did not select Sears as a solution. As we later learned from reliable HAVC installers, the option he suggested for our home was absolutely the wrong solution for a furnace located in the attic and would have resulted in future condensation issue in the attic. We were also concerned as to who would do the actual work as it seemed Sears would chose the lowest local bidder.

The salesman was on time; however, was very obnoxious. He was the unfortunate epitome of bad salesman behavior...trying to sell us things we didn't need, laughing to loudly/falsely, etc. His quote was higher than a lot of other places for comparable units...but what what really turned us off was him.
Description of Work: Had Sears come out for an estimate on replacing our central air and furnace.

The measurements have been done and stuff is on order. We chose them over another company because that company never got back to us. There is a lot of not-code piping as it's a very old house so, they will have to do a lot of extra work. We also have a huge heavy cast iron sink that is going to be challenging for them to remove, so we felt that the offer was reasonable.

My parents are 86 years old. I was there when Sears came out to inspect the furnace. They said everything was fine at that time. Two days later the furnace didn't work. They sent a different guy out who said they needed a new furnace without writing any repair slip saying what was wrong with it. He talked them into buying a new furnace because their is furnace old. When I spoke to my parents about it, because my brother and I were upset at the situation, we found out the way the contract was written, they only had 3 business days to cancel - and that the cancellation must be received on a Sunday. They included the weekend as business days. Eventually, after I advocated for my parents, they resolved the problem, but but I had to go to ups and fedex to make sure the cancellation document was received on time costing me $18. I didn't like that at all. I do want it to be known however that the project coordinator at the corporate office did apologize, said that he'd look into the situation and that this was not how business was to be done. He was cooperative in making sure that my parents will get there money back in about two weeks. I'd called them previously to look at my furnace and they tried to get me to buy a new furnace and a gas pipe valve for very high prices. I really didn't like the way they do business at all and frankly, they talk too much.
Description of Work: Both my parents & I had inspections for our furnaces by this company.

The doors went smoothly and were installed in about 5-6 hours with no problems. The kitchen was done over a period of 4 1/2 days with no problems. The kitchen was done by one guy who taped/sealed the kitchen off floor to ceiling from the rest of the house while he was sanding the cabinets smooth. The counters were installed by a local counter company here in Milwaukee that is a certified Corian installer by DuPont (I was told it is a patent thing). The Sears employee was an independent contractor who only works for Sears who has been with them about 20 years. He has even refaced his own projects from the 80's. The price is a little steep as far as the kitchen goes at $17,500 but I think it was worth it since I don't have an abundance of time to strip hardwood cabinets and refinish them. Plus I have 2 and 4 year olds that would just love to "help" me. Definitly satisfied.
Description of Work: We had Sears install a new rear entry and storm door, front storm door, reface our existing kitchen cabinets and install new Corian counters w/ sink. Along with refacing our cabinets, they installed a new Corian counter with undermounted Corian sink. Also, I purchased a range hood, garbage disposal and kitchen faucet which they installed since they had to rip the stuff out anyway.

The guys that installed were very nice, however, there was a disconnect between the sales people and the workers. Sales pitch included that the production manager had all of this experience, however, he never actually came to the work site. Included in our estimate was to create ventilation under the soffit vents including taking out nesting that may be blocking the ventilation. The workers initially only drilled 3 small holes under each vent, but the holes were blocked by nesting in some areas. Based on the estimate, we contacted the production manager, who was a little rude, however, did relay the information back to the work site employees. They did ask us what we wanted and how big the cut should be. In addition, they were supposed to have replaced any rotten wood. They indicated that none of the wood had been rotten (though there was one section that we knew was) and less than a year later, the trimming started to pull away from the wood (in the section that was rotten). There was a 1 year warranty on the work, so someone came out immediately to repair. He said that the wood was not rotted and that this sometimes happened due to the climate. Repaired with silicon or something to "glue" together. This should not have happened based on the cost and supposed quality of the material.
Description of Work: Replaced siding on peaks and under eaves and installed soffit vents.

THE SUBCONTRACTOR WAS QUITE PROFESSIONAL. HE INSTALLED THE DOOR OPENER IN A SHORT TIME AND POINTED OUT ITS FEATURES WHEN HE WAS DONE. I CONSIDER THE PRICE WE PAID FOR THIS WORK TO BE QUITE REASONABLE. WE'D DEFINITELY USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.
Description of Work: THIS REPORT IS SOMEWHAT FOR SEARS AND SOMEWHAT FOR GEISZLER GARAGE DOOR COMPANY. WE PURCHASED A GARAGE DOOR OPENER FROM SEARS AND ORDERED ITS INSTALLATION (WHICH COST 90.00) THROUGH SEARS. THEY SUBCONTRACT THIS TYPE OF WORK TO LOCAL INSTALLERS, WHICH HAPPENED TO BE GEISZLER IN OUR CASE.
