+ 2 moreThey did a good job. It was pouring rain and they had good attitudes even in the rain. They put in a couple of corner shelves and one ended up falling down. They came back for repairs and any adjustments right away. Overall it was good service through them. They did a really good job. Their price was real comparable to anything that was similar and their product was higher quality.
Description of Work: We used Mad City Roofing to refinish the whole bathtub and shower surround. They put the tub overlay over the whole tub and they stripped everything down. They took out all the old drywall and replaced all the surround of the tub. They also did part of our ceiling and replaced a fan in the bathroom.

It was difficult to get my refund back. They were gonna give you a free thing because you had them come out but they didn’t do that. Their price was exorbitant that’s why I called on them. They were unprofessional. He was really mad at me.

+ -1 moreI had Mad City Windows out for an estimate and regret ever talking to them! They use high pressure sales tactics like lowering the estimate if you sign right now and use their financing, no time to think about their products or their company. Their product looked good though and we decided to sign with them and were immediately hassled non stop to set up an appointment for measurements. We received 9 voice-mails in 2 days, 7 of them on the same day and two of the calls were only 8 minutes apart. Needless to say we have canceled our order with them! A professional company does not hassle their customers in this way, only hacks! Do not use Mad City Windows if you care about quality service!

+ -1 moreI don't know why we even hired these clowns. They were going around our neighborhood knocking on doors asking if they could give a free estimate for new windows. I thought that it would be good to get an estimate.They are pushy sales people who basically just want to get something sold and get the job done. The windows are just ok and they did clean up after themselves, but other then that the quality of the window is not what we expected at al. As soon as they left we noticed a hole about the size of a mans thumb all the way through the screen. We called them and they did come back within the first week to replace the screen. We were told during the sales pitch that if someone put a hole in one of there screens that all you have to do is rub over it and it comes back together again. I hate to admit that I believed him because this is an out and out lie. I actually believe that the windows that he sold us were NOT the windows that we got. They always have a special going on that is a certain price for the entire house of windows to be replaced. We looked at that window and it was very cheap, so we went with the more expensive one. By the time they were done with them it came to well over $4,000 !!! For TWO windows. People laugh at me when I tell them about it. We are very unhappy with this company and will never go to them again and when friends ask who is good I tell them and quot;ANYONE BUT NOT MAD CITY WINDOWSand quot;. WHY are they rated at a B. I can only hope that this will bring their score down to a C where it belongs. When I see the ads on TV I cringe .The thought of how many people in Madison are getting ripped off.

+ -1 moreThis was the opposite of professional Although I told them many times I would not sign anything then, they refused to give up trying. They ignored my many requests that they stop the presentation and leave, not going until I became angry with them. I especially resented the lengthy telephone call and quot;on my behalfand quot; the salesman made to the manager during which the salesman repeated all the virtues of the windows so I would hear it all again, as well as the way the price kept on dropping the longer I did not sign anything.
Description of Work: I scheduled an estimate for new windows. Two men came with a suitcase of demonstration items. After a few minutes looking at my windows, they launched into a sales pitch that lasted 3 hours.

+ -1 moreI agree with all the other reviews - terrible customer service, aggressive sales tactics, and overall REALLY dissatisfied. After an hour long sales pitch we didn't even know what the quote we wanted was. The sales person overstayed his welcome and despite many hints would not cut to the chase. Eventually - after more than an hour of sitting through his and quot;presentation,and quot; I had to tell him to please leave my house, and that if I had to sit through any more of his presentation I wasn't going to purchase windows from him. He finally left but it was overall a very bad experience and wasted an hour of everyone's time. We did not receive a quote and I am guessing we will not receive one because their windows are over-priced.

Description of Work: I contacted Mad City Roofing to do the roofing and windows. They came back and put in sidings that was not coded. They just put it in and we did not have an option. They took out the windows and put in new ones.

+ -1 moreFortunately our insurance covered the cost (except for the deductible), but from start to finish the project management, follow through, keeping us up to speed, and the workmanship was deserving of an "F." I have since had a reputable company inspect the work, because of ongoing roof leaking problems, and they were able to point out several spots that the work was not up to what it needed to be. In fact, the company person left working for Mad City because of the poor workmanship. Very unprofessional organization. Will never use them again, and am glad I can share this with others. All I can say is be ware!

+ -1 moreThe rep came in, promised that they could do both, and inked me to a deal that involved doing labor to both. When the foreman came a 3-4 weeks later, he indicated that my casement and their window wouldn't look the same, and to install my casement, they would have to permanently make the cut out bigger for the window, and that it would look awkward. Kudos to the foreman for being honest, but I would have never picked this group had their windows not matched. My extra casement is still in storage, as they didn't install both windows as our agreement (and payment) indicated. As it is, I paid way too much for work to one window.
Description of Work: I had a casement window to install, and wanted to buy a second window and install it too.

Description of Work: They were the first company that came over for window estimate. They proceded to give a 3 hour lecture about there windows. When he gave me the quote it was INCREDIBLY HIGH!! Since this was my first estimate, I explained to the rep that I want to get some more quotes before I decide. He was VERY PUSHY, offering all sorts of discounts if I sign today. I declined to sign and he left. He never followed up with me to see if I had made a decision. It seems like he knew that once I did my reseach I would never be back. STAY AWAY!!, there are much better companies out there, without any of the shady sales pitch.

+ -1 moreBy FAR the shadiest company I have worked with. Since MadCity, I have had 2 other quotes by reputable companies found on Angie's List. Both were professional, and knew I was having several quotes. Both also encouraged me to go anywhere else than MadCity. I now know why. It's been weeks and I am still trying to get a refund for my Groupon- no one will return my emails. When I call, Leana now tells me she is an 'answering service' and she can only deliver messages to her supervisor. She cannot tell me who her supervisor is, they change every day. she cannot tell me who her supervisor is today. she can only deliver messages. I asked her to deliver a message to her supervisor's boss, that I would like to have him call me back. She told me she would give the message, but they will not call me back. Shady. Shady. Shady.
Description of Work: We contacted MadCity for a quote for several new windows and doors. The initial call back to set the appointment Lena told me to ensure my husband was present (I'm the homeowner and not married.) She did not give me any detailed information on the appointment, but I've had updates done to my home over the past 3 years (including replacement windows), I knew the drill. The sales rep spent approx 30 min taking measurements of 4 windows, a front door, patio door, and door to the garage. After that, when I was expecting her to write down and give me the quote she proceeded to pull out a 4" binder and spend 90 minutes doing a presentation!! I told her 10 minutes into it we had another appointment that evening that we needed to get to. She told me to 'breathe, she was almost done' (are you kidding me?!?) We missed the other appt. She brought out 2 dramatic other samples to demonstrate how great their midline window was. Ridiculous sales techniques. She took 2 hours to give me the quote, then was all secretive about it- she wrote down ONE number, put it in a folder, and slid it across the table to me (what?!?) Kept referring to it as 'my investment" I told her the $14k number was high, I just had windows put in 3 years ago.... No. I could go on and on about this experience. We had the spend $300 for $1000 worth of windows groupon. She only took $700 off the price, not $1,000- and cited 'small print' we read the small print- she could not explain anything. I told her several times that I wanted a breakdown of each cost. I told her I could not afford to do everything at once, and I needed to prioritize based on price and the savings from the groupon. She told me she could not to that. She tried to give me the hard sell on my long term investment, etc. Then I got the 'let me call my manager- so he knows I showed up...maybe he has some suggestions' I could go on and on... the games continued. Through the manger, they agreed to discount 2 of the windows- however, their math made absolutely NO sense. "The discount they could offer us today" was the discount we were already going to get from the groupon. They talked in circles. We told her to leave. Long long long story short, I eventually talked to one of the owners. They will not respond to ANYTHING in email. The owner called, who was very short, and agreed it was $1,000, she was wrong, and swiftly offered to refund the money. I asked about the 2 hour presentation- he told me that was standard in the industry. I told him we had the $700 in savings from the coupon and wanted to understand what our options were. He said he'd get back to me, but of course never did. They would not give me any prices 'pre-groupon' they would only give me prices for 2 windows after the discount. I have no idea how these people are in business.

+ 0 moreAfter an appointment was made, the representative didn't show and didn't call. When we phoned the company afterward, we were offered a free dinner. We refused saying that if they couldn't be trusted to show for a quote, how could we trust them as a vendor. When we mentioned that we were offered a dinner by a company that didn't show to representatives of other vendors, they said, Oh Mad City Windows (without our having mentioned Mad City's name). Stay away.

I made the appointment thinking my husband would have time to do this, but he said I can just get the est. and the info and we would decide according to what they gave us. So when they called to verify the appointment, I was told that if my husband was not there that they would not come out. I explained that at this time he did not have the extra time for the 2 hour visit they say it takesto do the est. They said they could reschedule, but I had already waited three weeks for the appointment. If they want business, they should not turn it down because people choose to set up an appointment the way it is convienient for them. They won't get my business in the future. I'll go someplace else where they respect their customers.
Description of Work: There were none, because they would not come out to give me an estimate because my husband would not be at the appointment.

+ -1 moreI had been planning on replacing the windows in my house at some point and had gotten an estimate a year ago from a different company so knew about how much it was going to cost me for the windows I wanted. Mad City was replacing windows in another house in the neighborhood and so did some door-to-door marketing on that day. The guy who came to my door was very courteous and asked me if I wanted to meet with someone for an estimate. I decided I may as well get another estimate for future reference so he gave me some information and the company called me to set up an appointment. The salesperson, Dominic, was very personable and gave an extremely thorough and knowledgeable presentation, not at all high pressure. When it came to talk about purchasing, I told him that, because of finances, I wouldn't be able to afford the windows until the spring of next year. Dominic, however, was able to provide some financing options which were too good to pass up. We wrote up the contract and the windows were ordered. It took about a month for the windows to come in (exactly how long they told me it would take) and we scheduled a date for installation. While waiting for the windows, however, I realized that the trim around the front and back doors needed to match the new windows and requested that be done as well. I told them I would be willing to pay for that separately rather than amending the financing contract but they ended up doing them at no charge to me. The day of installation arrived and John and his crew of about six arrived at 8:30 a.m. Everyone was very friendly and courteous. As soon as one window was removed and the new one installed, one of the guys came around with the shop vac and cleaned everything up. A production manager came by mid-point in the job to check on everything. Eight beautiful new windows were installed, insulated and wrapped by just after 2:00 in the afternoon. They even gave me a paint chip at my request a week later so that I could match the new window wrap to some vinyl trim. I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for high-quality, energy efficient windows (with financing options!) installed by highly-skilled, conscientious workers.

+ -1 moreFebruary 18, 2012 I signed a contract with MAD CITY WINDOWS to install new windows in a rental property. The price quoted was 4 times that in which was advertised on TV & NO special financial terms. I had to call the sales office TWICE prior to me obtaining a COPY of the contract in question. After 10 days I received a COPY & half the sales point that were quoted me on February 18, 2012 were “over-ruled” in the contract. ((EX-free repair – NOT SO in the contract)) After 2 weeks I received a harassing phone calls from MAD CITY WINDOW production MGR “Chris” not only at home but also at my place of employment attempting to set up instillation time. I pointed out the “contract” stated installation in May 2012. Chris stated – UNREASONABLE, salesperson made an error & caused his company much inconvenience. After talking to the renter the windows were installed March 26, 2012. Within 24 hours after installation – Chris & office Manager Mike contacted me for payment in full. These folks via speaker phone talked very demanding, unprofessional and disrespectfully when I pointed out the invoice was NET 30 DAYS & not Net 24 Hours. They demanded a credit card & pointed out the contract stated NO LITIGATION & refused to correct the mailing address of my home instead of the misspelled address of the job site. They are UNSCRUPULOUS, HARASSING & extremely unprofessional. I would not refer them to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy. The product is nothing special and the people of this firm in my opinion are as trustworthy as a rabid SKUNK.

The installation went quickly and the crew was very solicitous of our needs. They were well-dressed and clean-cut, never giving us a moment’s apprehension about their abilities and capabilities. They frequently asked about our level of satisfaction with their work and asked if we had any questions. We would not hesitate to recommend Mad City Roofing to anyone of our family and friends. Our neighbors are already complimenting us on the beauty of the roof. We felt both product and service to be exceptional in quality. We are not only happy with the roof, but with the entire process of obtaining it-the crew, the installation, and the way we were treated.

+ -1 moreAbout four years ago we had a hail storm and had damage to our roof and I can't give them a positive review because they observed some damage to the ply wood or knew there was going to be a problem and didn't tell us about it because insurance was covering the shingle replacement and would not have covered the damage that they saw or anticipated and they didn't tell us about it. They went on and put on the new roof and everything seemed fine. Approximately a year and a half later we had someone look at our chimney and it was some deterioration going on there and the person came down and said they wouldn't take this job because of the condition of the roof. He said there are soft spots everywhere and he got nervous walking around up there and would never take equipment up there. So anyways bottom line was after a long period of negotiation with Mad city roofing they did offer to replace the shingles at no cost to us but we ended up spending another $5,000 because all of the ply wood on our roof needed to be replaced just because it had been nailed through too many times and just the process of having some damage that overtime. It took them a long time to get them to admit that they saw it but didn't alert us to it because they knew that our insurance company was only covering the shingles. We actually did an upgrade that the insurance company didn't cover we paid out of our pocket and we upgraded to a higher grade of shingling that had previously been on there and was covered by the insurance company. I don't know the real reason why they didn't alert us to it at that time. After meeting with him several times he finally admitted that the foreman did alert him that there was a problem and that they had chosen not to tell us. He just said the reason why they didn't pass it on because it wouldn't be covered by our insurance. We may well have had our roof collapse that following roofer because we get a fair amount of snow up here in Wisconsin except for this year and one of the people that looked at it because we spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what was going on because we had also added extra insulation up in our attic and initially that is what he had told us was the problem that the sheeting had been damaged by the excess heat in our attic because when they put in extra insulation that they interfered with ventilation roof the softening and there actually was a certain amount of truth to that. We did find insulations in the faucets when they tore the sheeting off but it wasn't enough to cause the damage that had been done. Like I said he did finally say that the problem had been that the original sheeting was minimal thickness and it had just been nailed through so many times. It was damaged just from having been reroofed several times.

+ 0 moreAfter a hailstorm we hired them and our insurace covered the cost but it was very high. We had something drop through our roof and put a hole in our family room. They took wood from our garage to repair the hole because they did not bring their own supplies. We still have issues with that part of the roof. The gutter work was terrible as well.
Description of Work: .It took them two years to finish putting on a roof on our ranch style house. It took them one year to finish our gutter repairs.

+ -1 moreMad City Windows sent out a great representative Joe that was very knowledgeable and friendly. Several of the other companies had sent out some pretty high pressure sales types and Joe was the complete opposite. Then the installation team that came out went above and beyond. The crew arrived early and as the size of the crew increased each one knew what and how to get things done. We are very pleased we chose this company. Everyone was well mannered. The crew leader introduced himself and everything was very business like. Each crew members performance was top notch and I heard no bad language. These guys are just good hard workers. They were friendly as well and cleaned up everything. I would recommend Mad City Windows to anyone considering replacement windows.
Description of Work: 8 double hung windows, 1 bay window, and 1 patio door window. Lead safe installation with woodgrain finish. This was their premium window.

Description of Work: I had Mad City Roofing/Windows replace three windows approximately three years ago. At that time, a fellow named Ron was in charge of the project. He was professional, courteous and gave me an excellent deal. The windows they installed were great! So naturally, I called Mad City again the first part of this year when I needed another window. A rep named Dave showed up and told me Ron was no longer with their company(: I put aside the fact that Dave was not all that professional eager, as I was to get to the bottom price line. I was quoted a price of $1,000 which I thought was a tad high. Fortunately I searched through Angie's List and found Everyday Exteriors. They just installed a beautiful, 3-pane window (flawless job, I might add) for a total of $590.00. I will never contact Mad City again.
