Great!. The system is less intrusive than we thought. If you have to install a radon mitigation system in your home, I would strongly recommend Erik. From the first phone call to finished job--he did everything that he said they would. And we asked lots of questions before the work was started. There were no surprises.

Did not respond to my initial two voicemails and email. Finally got ahold of Tom on the phone, he was very disagreeable and aggressive with me on the phone. Tried to tell me a issue I have with my system is something other than a problem with the way the system was installed. Cancelled two scheduled appointments with me.Finally came to look at the system and sent me a quote to and quot;attempt to fixand quot; the problem. The words on the quote were attempt to fix. Scheduled his workers to come to the house to perform the work without me ever approving the quote. When his workers called to say they were coming out I refused to have them perform the work telling them I will not pay to have them attempt to fix something not installed correctly to begin with. They said they would have Tom call me to discuss and I have never heard from him. I would never use this company again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

We met with Tom about a month prior to the actual installation, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The scheduling was simple and the installation went very well too. Erik and Danny were our installation crew who were professional, certainly cleaned up after themselves, and explained what they were doing at each step. Our post install Radon numbers came back and we're now @ 1.0 pCi/l in our basement, down from approximately 8 pCi/l. Very pleased!

Tom Heine got me on his background and education, also his ability to further explain and educate me on the Radon subject. Strongly recommend them. Erik and co who actually performed the install were quick, clean, and efficient. Follow up testing performed by a sub revealed avg of 0.8 pCi/L. I started with 15-16 pCi/L.

Working with Radon Abatement was wonderful. Tom has such a vast background and knowledge of radon and radon issues, that I felt instant comfort and knew immediately that this was who I was going to work with. They were punctual, patient with my questions, explained everything well, cleaned up any messes and the end price exactly matched the quote. They warranty the system will keep radon levels below 2.7 pCi/L. A 48-hour test was conducted 2 days after the work was completed and the radon level in my basement was down to an average .7. This is well below the 4.0 pCi/L EPA maximum. Great crew to work with!!!! Two thumbs up!!!!
Description of Work: Services performed included: suction drop pit with ventilation pipes, radon ventilation suction fan secured in garage attic, exhaust pipe exiting the fan to carry gas out the garage roof, "U" tube manometer monitor installed in basement, custom sump pump crock installed and sealed, installation of sump pump/backup (I purchased pump/backup), cold joint and crack sealing with silicone caulk, testing by a nationally certified radon testing professional after work is completed.

I had seen Tom on a news program on tv some time back and was impressed with what he had to say about his radon business and how knowledgeable and professional he was. I received a radon test kit on my own -- so I had the results before calling Tom. He came to our home with a packet of information and again was very informative and knowledgeable and explained in great detail how the work would be done. I made an appointment to have the work done and a few weeks later Tom and his son came to do the work. They did a great job -- showed up on time and did the work as they said they would do. They were also very polite and cleaned up well. Great job!

Tom did a great job with this.He left the detection kit first to test the levels and after installing all the necesarry equipments/pipes etc., he came back to make sure the radon levels were well contained and within acceptable level. We are happy with the Job done.
Description of Work: When we did our Home inspection, the Radon test came up with high levels of Radon in the basement. We had to get the Radon mitigated from our basement as a result and had to get a radon abatement test done and install radon detectors to make sure the levels met the Home and City Standards.

The service went very well...they were on-time and very efficient and cleaned up after themselves. Paid particular attention to sealing the sump pump pit which had three pipes going to the exterior. The final radon radon reading was near zero (which is almost un-heard of).
Description of Work: Installed a sub slab depressurization system through the basement floor and out through the garage roof. The system was installed using 3in PVC and an RP145 radon fan.

Was so impressed with the owner. I first ran across him while I was calling for estimates on getting radon tested for our new home. He informed me that, most likely, I could get a free kit from the city health dept and he was right. It came back a little high. I called as soon as the winter weather broke and got a quote from him and another company but ultimately went with Radon Abatement because he was just so honest about the whole thing. The showed up on time and did the job in 3 hours as promised and did not leave any mess at all. The owner is very knowledgeable about Radon - it's not just a job for him, you can tell it's a passion. I would highly recommend this company.

A 48 hour test could be completed by an independant tester several days after the abatement. You would want a certification that the final radon reading meets at least "4" recommended by EPA or better yet "2" put forth by the World Health Organization. You should get a manufacturers warranty on the fan and a warranty on the job.
Description of Work: I own a property that serves as a modest daycare for a couple of working parents. Since I felt a responsibility to provide a safe enviroment I did a simple screening with a kit purchased from a hardware store. The test detected the presence of the gas so I followed up with a certified testing company. I live in a condo about a mile from the home in question so I tested both locations. By testing both locations I got a discount in the cost of the screening. When both 48 hour test came back higher than the EPA guidelines I got the name of several radon abatement services recommended by the testing company. I spoke to two organizations, requested quotes and became more informed about a subject I knew nothing about. I checked the BBB site and Angies List to get any info I could on these companies. Their base prices were close. Both companies came out and looked at the sites and each gave me some information that the other did not, so I had a better basis for asking questions. It was a toss up as far as a final choice. Both companies had a good reputation. Winter is not the easiest time to do the job because some of the work is outside and on the roof. The condo was a straight forward installation but because the house had a complete remodel, a structual problem did not surface until the drywall was opened. The complication was shown and explained to me. Since this structual problem made it impossible for a simple installation, I was given two options and I chose the more costly solution. This situation could not be avoided because "the bones" or construction was not visible until the walls were opened. The men were helpful, finished in about three hours and cleaned up the sight. I would recommend and/or use them again. As far as pricing, you can probably get a ball park range over the phone. If the contractor has an unobstructive view of the sight the cost should be what was quoted. The materials, excluding the fan, do not appear costly. In my oppinion, I paid for the knowledge (experience), equipment (their tools) and their labor. I'm confident I have the best installation that the industry can offer in 2010.
