On the first visit, Don determined that I needed to replace 2 seals which he had to order. 2 weeks later he installed the seals and then found that 2 of the stainless steel screws that attach the door to the hinge were damaged and needed to be replaced. After another 3 weeks wait for the screws he finally came and completed the job, but it took him 5 hours to do it, an exceptional amount of time for the job. The primary cause of struggle to re-assemble the door was simply due to his unfamiliarity with that particular model (made by Bosch). The amount of labor time that he charged was more than twice what it should have been for that job, even taking into account that he did not have the benefit of taking it apart in the first place. When I expressed my concern over the time that he was charging me, he blamed the way the dishwasher was made, the way it was initially installed, that my electrical panel isn't labeled to show which breaker feeds the dishwasher, and the fact that I hadn't needed to completely remove the door panel to replace the dispenser in the first place. He did not, however, take responsibility for his lack of familiarity with that model. I'm sure that he will be much more efficient next time after learning on mine. When I challenged him on his labor charge he said, "I'm sorry you are disappointed, but that's what it is". While we were waiting for parts I checked with two other sources and both of them assured me that they could get those special screws in 2 days. We were without a dishwasher for 2 months and finally ended up paying $450 for a $200 job. We should not have had to pay for the repairman's education - he should be prepared and able to complete the job when he takes the call (or at least shouldn't charge the client for the trial and error time spent teaching himself the job).
Description of Work: First, I should not have tried to replace the soap dispenser in my dishwasher myself. While I did replace the dispenser, I found that I was not equipped to re-attach the spring loaded hinges to the door due to lack of proper tools, lack of experience, or both. I called D&J Precision to reattach the hinges and re-install the front door panel. On his first visit, Don Giovanazzi the owner determined that I needed to replace 2 door seals as well, which was ultimately completed.
