They were good.

Robert Vert had supervised the sidewalk concrete work that we had done for my mom in 2007. ALC did an excellent job, at an excellent price, so we got only one other bid before about a months worth of research and email exchanges with Robert regarding Mom's needs. We accepted Robert's bid of less than $3000. for 130 sq. ft. of pavers laid on a flat base of 4 inches of compressed gravel and 1/2 inch of sand. As it turned out, our job was done earlier as it fit in their schedule as a substitute for one pouring concrete in an intermittent rain. We should have made haste to get our drawing done. Robert was not available to supervise, and we ended up rather surprised at some of the way the raised bed was handled. Mom was initially disappointed that she could not identify a circle in the shape of her patio, which is more bulb-shaped, as we had expected a contrasting line to separate the end of the path with the edge of the circle. We failed to be specific, particularly at the commencement of work. We figure if need be, we can do all kinds of things both with plants and our own collection of natural rock to augment the lovely organic s-shape of the wall, that we expected to be more d-shaped, starting and ending at the sidewalk. There was some initial concern, but think it is yet a good thing to have done. Things we admit in all this, is that my husband and I enjoyed the daily surprises, and it was quick work--about three days. We appreciate the respect that Piero, the supervisor, and his crew gave our eccentric specification that my grandmother's weathered concrete birdbath base be integrated in the resultant design. The work seemed professional in most areas, if slightly random in a couple. The initial estimate included removal of a cherry tree root formerly in the yard, that the stump grinder had failed to get. It turned out to be about four times as large as we had imagined. The crew really worked h****** that, no doubt, as it ran right under where the very even path now is laid. My mom had decided she wanted a flower garden on the patio side, and a kitchen raised bed garden on the other side of the sidewalk from the back door. We were not sure how we wanted to handle that, but decided that a simple structure of Stack Stone concrete that matched the patio wall seemed simplest. We asked Robert for a bid and got an estimate of $610. for an approximate 4 by 8 by 18 inch bed with curved ends, filled with topsoil!! The job was done within a week My husband had wanted one long side to be straight, which didn't happen, But we got an interesting curvilinear shape, level in an area that is not, that required a lot of sawing and professional skill. Our experience is that ALC does work that is both affordable and skilled. They are probably best for folks who really want someone to both design and install. I feel sure our work would have been exactly as we envisioned it, if we had a clearer sense of technical issues in the levels of the patio wall and had started each job by giving the workers a drawing of what we did have in mind. There was a certain aspect of momentum without communication with the client, represented by my husband, who had come home from work at least once and who had left his cell number. I would recommend that if control of the minutia of your project is your biggest issue, stay close, and take the time to provide very specific and detailed drawings. Otherwise, enjoy good work done at a good price!

They are punctual and responsive.

Detailed discussion prior to start of project. Crew was professional and experienced. Project completed per contract. Project site was left in very presentable condition with all resulting debris removed. Property accesses--foot paths and vehicle drives--were cleaned of debris for safe passage.

I like that they are on time. They come in and got to work and they clean well when they would leave. They were very professional with their work that they did for me.

It usually takes them a whole day. I pay them when they come. Two guys came. They charge $40.00 per hour. They do all kinds of stuff. I am very pleased with the work that was done and I highly recommend them.
