I was very impressed and completely satisfied with the work of Element Hardwood Floors. From the first time I spoke with the owner, Kevin, he was professional, knowledgeable and very easy to work with. He came out right away to do the bid. He made sure to let us know that he would be doing the work along with a journeyman employee which I thought was important because I felt very comfortable with him personally as well as trusting in his expertise. His bid turned out at exactly what he said it would. We did have a few other contractors come out to give bids, but found that the ones that charged less were only planning on doing two coats of finish and didn't use dustless equipment with the actual sanding like Element does. Kevin was very clean, (which is a very big deal for me!) and was always on time, finishing on schedule. We LOVE our now refinished Ash floors. I still can't believe how good they look! They actually look better than when we bought the house, all scratches and dents gone and great natural color. We never had to spend a night away from home due to highly toxic fumes like I was expecting because he uses the best products. He was great about explaining the differences between all floor finishes, stain options,and sheen. He even put a few different samples of stain options on our floor to make sure we could see what we liked the best, though we ended up liking natural the best. We never needed to clean dust off anything after they left, it was like they were never there! If you need your hardwoods refinished, repaired, or even new ones I would absolutely put Kevin and Element Floors at the top of your list. I'd say kevin is a perfectionist and will work very hard to give you the best results possible.

Overall, the quality was excellent, even though it was a polyurethane finish. I was told over and over again by realtors and interior decorators and a number of other flooring specialists that I should go with a Swedish Finish. I heard about the drawbacks of Swedish Fish, like lingering odor and was concerned because I was not moving out while this work was being done. I notice Element's ad and was very impressed with their dustless sanding apparatus. I recommend watching the video they have of the process, which helped me further confirm that they were legitimate. I was also concerned about how the flooring would look with a natural finish , and Kevin, the owner, invited me to see a recent install to easy my concerns. I really appreciated his attentiveness. I think I picked the best refinisher in the city. It was fantastic. The job turned out great. I would recommend them to anyone.

In under a week Kevin took our floors from dingy to fabulous. One great thing he offers is a chance to see a wide swath of several choices of finish type/color so you don't have to choose from a teeny sample card. He offered advice about the choices, but no pressure. It's great working with Kevin because he is so enthused about wood floors in general and the various ways they can be finished. He's extremely knowledgeable about the products he uses and takes the time to explain and answer questions thoroughly. To recap the job: Kevin and one employee worked about 4 days on our house. Every day they came when expected and worked a long day. The job was done before the estimated finish date. They sanded all the floors except the tiled kitchen & baths, including the staircase and inside the closets -- ALL the way down under the eaves in the case of some closets; I was impressed they continued in a tight space that will be unseen once the closets are in use. The floors are 100yo fir and 50yo (?) oak. The fir received a clear coat of finish; the oak a light stain to bring it closer in color to the fir. Everything looks wonderful. There was no dust visible in the house after the work and very little paint touch-up required on the baseboards and banisters. They left the area outside of the house clean as well, and took away all their sawdust trash. Kevin even made a new piece of flooring for a small area behind a heat register when he found the original to be damaged and not worth refinishing -- no extra charge!

Kevin installed new hardwood floors in multiple rooms in our home and I’m very happy with the results. The new floor has totally transformed our old house. Kevin was willing to answer our numerous questions on the kinds of woods and finishes, returned phone calls promptly and showed up when he said he would. It became clear to me that beyond understanding the process of the installation Kevin understood completely the pros and cons of the various woods plus the finish he would be applying and the advantages of the more current finishes over the outdated "Swedish Finish" used in years past. He guided us to making the right choice for our home and lifestyle. The price was competitive with the big box stores but he gave us the kind of customer service and instant access to him they wouldn’t have been able to. The job took several days but he made it go as smoothly and quickly as he possibly could. The process itself was much cleaner then I expected and because of the newer finish vs. the old Swedish we could return after each of the three coats he applied to walk (carefully!) on the new floor and sleep in our own bed that night with no nasty fumes. Both Kevin and assistant Jason are polite, careful with household items and family pets (never let the dog or cat out once by mistake - a contractor first at our house!) and are the ones who are on site doing the work. When the job was done everything was cleaned up and the house was left in great shape. Frankly, after having several contractors in over the past year to update our house I wish all of them had been as pleasant to be around and as easy to work with as Element Hardwood.

My story starts with... I needed a new dishwasher, and by he time I was done, I had a whole new kitchen, living room and dining room! Due to the remodel, sections of the hardwood flooring had to be added and patched in. Kevin and his team came in and re-finished all of he floors in kitchen, living room, dining room, den and hallway. All areas (patched and existing) were blended and re-finished seamlessly! I know there were a lot of challenges with the age and wear and tear, but they made my 50 year old floors l ook brand new!! The are absolutely gorgeous!! I couldn't be more pleased with the end results!!!! I get compliments on them constantly. Over the years I've had my floors re-finished two other times, and Kevin's expertise and the system he uses is outstanding! No excessive dust layer, no nasty smell. Kevin is very passionate about what he does and genuinely takes pride in his work. He clearly knows the product and materials he's working with. He advised me on, not only the best type of finish, but also gave me tips and advise on how to care and maintain my floors. He and his assistant (Jason) were efficient, prompt, fast, seemed to work very well together and had excellent manners! (No bad language!) I would, without hesitation, recommend Kevin and his company to anyone looking for an expert hardwood flooring company (re-finishing/installation). I would hire them again, in a minute!

He came out and gave us an estimate which was right on. We had to live in our basement while he performed the work which was much more pleasant than we anticipated due to the low fume/environmentally friendly product he used. He was extremely professional and was a good guy you could trust in your home. I would highly recommend him!

Found Kevin when I was looking for a reliable refinisher that used non-toxic products. He refinished a very old living room floor in a rental house. It was a complete transformation. Because it was a rental I decided to have 2 extra coats of finish to make it more protective since it was soft wood, for an extra $800. I'm very glad I did as the very next tenant's dog has badly scratched the floor but it can now be repaired with just a 'top coat' of finish, saving the wood itself. I like using contractors that do their own work so I know what I'm getting. Kevin knows what he is doing and is reliable. I would recommend and will use him again.
