The installers were extremely rude. Our counter top was level (as tested by a level) and somehow, the cooktop was not level when they put it in. When we pointed it out (politely), they told us that we were being "excruciatingly difficult". The issue is that the cooktop not being level means that there's a gap between the cooktop and counter. This means that stuff can get under the cooktop, and potentially cause a short on the circuit. This was a legitimate question, one that was important to us, no matter how 'trivial' it may seem to the installer. This wasn't very nice. I wouldn't have had a problem if they'd just said, "I'm sorry, there's nothing that can be done about that", or even say, "this is usually how all installations are, this is pretty normal, and not a big deal in the cooktop world". Really anything other than "you're being excruciatingly difficult", when we were being polite the entire time, and just asking a question. The do seem to 'know' their stuff for the most part, and the installation charge was reasonable. However, they also quoted us $1800 to set up the electrical work for our cooktop. We were able to get it done by another (normal electrical) company for $500, so I think their rates are a bit exorbitant. They're also "excruciatingly difficult" to get a hold of. We didn't complain about that, because we just wanted to be nice and get the job done, but it was a pain. I would expect that there're probably much better installers out there, and that you should look for someone else.

Elkay Services really know its stuff when it comes to appliance installation. We ordered a variety of new appliances from Arnold's Appliance and decided to have Elkay install them to make sure that it was done right. They had all hands on deck the first day (I think I counted four different trucks) to unload the appliances and start the installation. John did the majority of the work and he was a joy to work with. After all of the appliances were in, John went through each one, instructed us how to use them, and answered any questions that we had. When one of our ovens was installed a bit too high, John graciously lowered the oven after he had installed it, to a more suitable height for my wife.

The only problem that we had was coordinating our schedules for the installation. I am not sure what happened, but I think there was a miscommunication between Arnold's, Elkay, and myself as to when we wanted the appliances installed. Not a big thing because we weren't in any rush. Also, they had to make a return trip because the wrong trim kit was delivered and they also needed a special electrical cord that wasn't included with the cooktop. Not a big hassle because it took them less than an hour to finish the last part of the installation.

The main thing is that the appliances were professionally installed without any problems. I would highly recommend using their services if you don't have the skills or the time to do it yourself.

Great experience! Keith (the owner) was very conscientious about keeping us informed about what was going on. We had to get him on very short notice when we realized that there wasn't anyone set up to install our newly-delivered range and hood. He and his assistant came promptly when they said they would; did a careful, neat and professional job; and cleaned up all the delivery/installation mess. They hauled off the old hood and fixed up the vent housing more neatly than the old contractor had left it originally.
