We did not actually receive service from this provider because at the time of the call our Big Deal was going to expire and we were planning to be out of town. The provider was exceptionally professional and said that they would honor the Big Deal that we had purchased even though it was going to expire while we were gone. We did not have time to schedule a call within a reasonable time after we returned and have not contacted Tree Resource as we felt that too much time had gone by to ask them to honor the Big Deal that we had purchased. I was very impressed with their professionalism in regard to trying to schedule the Big Deal service that I would definitely call them to get tree work done.

This is the second time we used Tree Resource. The first time was in coordination with 2 Angie's big deals, $199 for $400 of work, and a day's worth of 2 arborists. We were really pleased the first time, and so contacted them the second time. We're working on clearing 1/4 of property for an overall landscape plan. This involved taking out several trees. Tree Resource sent out an arborist to assess the health of all the trees, and we found out that the couple trees we wanted to save, were rotted at the bottom or cracked and needed to go. We worked up a plan to take out several trees (8 total) and trim a tree back that habitually dropped branches on the neighbor's roof during the winter. Once we had the plan, Tree Resource suggested the second Angie's Big Deal (days' work) because we were having so much done. 2 guys came out, and were able to get all the work done in 3 days. They were really communicative about what they were doing and making sure they were explaining what was going on. We had them leave rounds (about 1-1.5ft tall) as we'll be using the wood for firewood and food smoking. They took all the branches and foliage and it honestly looked like they hadn't been there the clean-up was that good. The first trip ended up costing us about $5500 after all the deals were applied. The second time we called was to remove one last tree we thought we wanted to keep. They didn't require a second site visit, as they remembered the tree (services were about a month apart). One of the nice things they did was give us some options about keeping the wood. We could have it all taken away, the debris/foliage taken and rounds left, or the trees simply felled and left for us to deal with. They priced each of the options for us. Once that was done, they set up a time for about a week out and the service was just as satisfactory.

Most recent experience, February 2014: Update of my earlier D review. I am changing my review due to Abigail's diligence in trying to make us happy. Tree Resource extended the entire value of the coupon and came out last Friday to do the work. We had 4 trees pruned, the total cost was about 383.00 and with the 200.00 coupon, we paid an additional 183.00. They showed up when there were supposed to and did the work as scheduled. We did order a tree and expect that it will come some time in the future. Earlier Review October 2013: We purchased the big deal and contacted Tree Resource. They referred us to Alec W.G. Schroader who responded with an email on June 25, 2013 that he was out of the office and would contact us when he got back in. We responded with some questions and mentioned that we hoped to hear from him soon. Eventually summer happened and we looked at our Angies Big Deal finding that it was expiring soon. So we sent a follow up message to Alec and to info@ tree resource almost a week ago and still no response. We just wanted to purchase a tree and tree planting from them.

Provider was punctual, polite, and professional. The two-men (one of which was a university graduate arborist) were careful with my personal property, and performed their task in a timely manner. Upon job completion, the site was left clean and orderly. I strongly recommend this company to anyone with a similar need.

As trimming the Maple involved obtaining permission from the condo association owning the property to access the tree, this one took some patience and persistence until we determined if a city permit was required etc.. The TreeResource staff assisted with all of the upfront work and then did an excellent job with the actual trimming. Very professional.

Tree Resource was professional, diligent and competent at every stage of the project. From the moment we purchased the Big Deal they were proactive and professional in communicating and scheduling the consultation and work. Stuart (lead arborist) was very knowledgeable and capable. Work was completed on time, looks great and they left the site immaculate. They were very fair about the scope of work completed within the Big Deal (no extra charges), and followed up to ensure we were satisfied. I would strongly recommend Tree Resource and will use them again in the future.

The original tree consultant came out in the pouring rain to assess my property. She then set up fee schedule for the trees I could afford at different times of the year. They did such a great job with the first service, I hired them back out the next year. Great customer service. Before my second visit, I had a question & was able to talk with owner. On the second visit, they happened to send out the same staff so the guys were able to see the results of their previous trimming the year before -great job especially having the same crew. Great consistency. Loved the fact I had a request for a short notice of my preferred date for service & they were able to accommodate perfectly. Can't go wrong with this company.

Stuart and Elise were on time, very professional and competent in setting up for the work. They explained everything they were doing; answered all questions in an engaged and informative manner. Our biggest tree had many dead branches beneath the canopy - those were all cleared away. Stuart continued up to the top of the canopy to inspect all the trees to ensure there were no problems that might threaten our house in a wind storm. After the tall tree, they proceeded to inspect the an old tree stump. They climbed a nearby tree, swung over, and removed the threatening section of trunk and branch. If the remaining part of the trunk falls, we agreed that it will fall in the green belt and pose no threat. Finally, they did an assessment of an alder very close to the fence and house. Due to some timing issues, we agreed on a plan to evaluate the tree after leaves drop. Overall, what I really liked about Tree Resource is they are focused on protecting both someone's property and structures as well as the trees themselves. They will cut when necessary to remove hazards; but their goal is to leave as much of a healthy group of of trees as possible.

The magnolia tree in my front yard has been increasingly unhealthy for several years with large portions that ceased flowering and appeared dead or dying. I got an Angie's List Big Deal to have an arborist come out and assess the tree with the hope that it could be saved. An arborist came out to look at the tree; he was on time, very friendly and knowledgeable, and spoke to me for quite a while about the likely causes (damage to the roots from a walkway put in several years before) and the best options. His recommendation was to cut away the dead and dying portions to give the new, healthy growth a chance and evaluate it again in a year or two. I scheduled an appointment for a couple weeks later. The two men who performed the retrenchment were also punctual and very friendly; they talked to me about what they were going to do, performed the work quickly and skillfully and cleaned up and removed all of the trimmed portions from the yard. The tree already has quite a lot of healthy-looking new growth, and I'm very satisfied with the service I received. I will definitely be going to Tree Resource again when I need more advice or work on my tree!

Contacted Tree Resources and they sent their arborist to check out the snow damaged trees and bushes, and also quote on trimming three other conifers. She seemed knowledgeable and professional. She provided a quote via email, upon receiving it, I thought it was on the expensive side as compared to other arborists I've worked with in the past, but since I've already purchased the Angie's List coupon for their discounted services I was compelled to use it. I only had them to repair 3-4 snow damaged bushes and trees and prune only one tree. The other services I thought was a bit steep in price to have them perform and had my landscaper do the rest. A week or two later two gentlemen came over and started the job, it was a bit challenging for them at first as the trees / bushes were badly bent and were over 15' high, but they were able to prop them up and prune off excess branches. By doing so, they damaged my neighbor's fence which I had to repair after they left. They also pruned the top of my pine tree, the quality of the pruning was just so-so, I think they could have shaped it better and trim off more of the protruding branches in the canopy to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing. I later had my landscaper to refine the shape the tree. Overall the quality of work was just average / fair, I think if they refined the pruning a bit more I would have rated them a B or A, they were so close but didn't take the extra step or half hour to do it. I think they were very busy at that time and were on a tight schedule. I wouldn't mind using them again with a discount coupon and I'll probably have to emphasize with them on the quality of the pruning and the aesthetics. The price I paid for the service was after the discount coupon.

Not bad. Obviously, with the Big Deal, it was a fair price. The concept is a bit questionable. They pick out three trees without seeing the yard. If I hadn't been a bit pesky, I wouldn't have been able to give them any info on what I was looking for or my yard space or much of anything at all. If I remember right, per the details of the Big Deal, you don't even have to be at home when they do the job. So, again, if you don't act as your own advocate, you could just come home with three new random trees one evening. I had to make sure that we found a day and time where I could be home so that I could have input on where the trees went. All in all, I wound up with three good trees, planted in good places. And the people who came out to do the work were very nice. I might use this company again, but I would never buy this Big Deal again.

The Arborist came out to our lot (approximately 1/2 an acre) and spent around an hour walking around with me to look at our trees and answer any questions I had. Overall I was very happy with the professionalism and the education I received. He followed up within a week with an estimate to take care of everything in our yard, prioritized by safety, and then optimizing the health of the trees, fruit production and beauty. My final quote was around $3,000, and although I am not looking to do it all at this point, I am looking to schedule sometime for them to do about 1/3rd of the work. They have been very good at contacting me to set up a time, but I have not been able to commit to date.

This service worked out perfectly for me. I am an Architect and designed an addition to a home in Redmond which intended to "fit" into the existing landscaping. This meant that the structure would come closer to the proximity of several large trees than the city's development code would allow. My option was to get a report from a licensed arborist stating that the proposed structure would not adversely affect the health of the trees. I knew that it wouldn't, but the city had to have something official. I met a nice young man out at the site and we walked through the project site. He agreed that the trees were fine and took notes and pictures that he later incorporated into a report. Everything was done promptly and professionally. I submitted their report with my drawings to the city. I would use them again and would recommend them as well.
Description of Work: I hired an arborist to come out to a residential site and assess whether a potential expansion of the house would affect the health of the trees. I then had them write up a synopsis as part of a permit submittal to the City of Redmond.

Scheduling was prompt and professional. The work was done while I was away. I came home and found trees no longer reaching my roof or walls, so the goal was accomplished. No mess was left, that was also satisfactory. I never received any paperwork after the job, no invoice or summary of work or explanation of how my two certificates of purchased value had been used. I know tree work is expensive, but I did not understand how $400 of retail value of work had been done based on what I saw.

I didn't really understand how "tree people" thin out trees. The tree resources people came over to my house, thinned out the trees within ethical, professional standards, and left me with trees that were not only thinned....and would not need to be thinned for two more years, but healthy. They explained to me that what I had done before...which was not by "tree people"...could have actually put my trees in danger and made for a complicated recovery.
