I feel this "BIG" deal was deceiving! I paid $949 online as you advertized. When the tech arrived he started adding items such as an expension tank @ 160.00, a gas permit for 87.00, tax for 32.00 and an access fee (installation fee) of 99.99! for a total of $1412.14. The heater was in a basement with 10 stairs down and he charged an access fee for that. However i helped him lift it into place on one end of the heater--it took less than 5 minutes to lift it downstairs! If anybody takes advantage of your BIG deals they better ask more questions or be in a tight spot of needing the water tank and being over-a-barrel to pay up. By the way i got a bid for the tank from BEN LA 0 for $1200.00 . ALSO THE TECH FORGOT TO INSTALL THE EARTHQUAKE STRAPS AND SO HE WILL HAVE TO COME BACK. also i waited at least 15 minutes on the phone to get an operator to order the BIG deal. jim mcfadden

I ordered the 960.00 angies list coupon, for a full install of a new heater, and removal of the old one on a sunday afternoon. I was called a couple hours later and set up a next day install. The time was set for a window of 12-5. Around 3pm on Monday I got a call from Fred the tech, saying he cant get there on time, I told him being late was fine, we need the heater. So we agreed on 5:30pm. Fred noticed the heater might be too tall for my set up so he went and got a smaller one. He got started about 7pm. Around 9:30 he was done and on his way. Everything cleaned up and working properly. Great stuff.

In late december FAST installed a water heater in my house. A few months later, the water heater started to short out. It turns out they did a very poor job wiring it and the wire nuts were melted, blackened and charred. This could have easily caught fire, this bad connection is right under my child's bedroom. When i called them to take a look at it, they tried to put me off until i demanded they come over the same day and fix this issue which they installed just 4 months prior. After getting a supervisor on the line, the technician they sent did not know what he was doing. His direct quote was "I don't like electrical." Nice enough guy but I had to guide him through troubleshooting and he had to call someone else to walk him through what do to. I would never use them again.
Description of Work: Installed water heater. Did not wire it correctly and started to short out. Wiring nuts were black, charred, and melted. Could have easily caught fire.

I was very happy with how everything went. I was aware there was going to be some work involved with getting a new water heater in. They arrived on time and were very courteous and professional. I was given an estimate and a thorough explanation of everything on the estimate. The installed the new water heater quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Overall, I am very happy with my service.

Response from Fast Water Heater Company
Thank you for your business. Just a note for other customers about 75s...new energy efficiency regs were put in place April 15, 2015. So, if you want a 75 gal electric you need to put in a beat pump water heater (unless you can find a pre 4/15 manufactured unit). 75 gallon gas units are also changed significantly on the new units so sizing (being able to fit) is problematic and cost has gone up. I some applications we've stocked up on pre 4/15 units. But as we move forward if you have a higher requirement for hot water volume....you will need to go heat pump water heater for electric (which are much more energy efficient and better for the environment but deliver less hot water) or on the gas side you may want to consider tankless. If we can source a pre 4/15 gas unit we can keep the cost down but as these dissappear, the costs of 75s are getting closer and closer to tankless units. Tankless units are energy efficient and save space. They also offer un limited hot water (only limited by flow rate at least not volume). But, they do require power so in the event of a power outage, you have no hot water unless you install a battery backup. They typically run 2,500 to 3,500 which is expensive. But we expect to see 75 gallons go above 2k as everybody gets through pre "Naeca 3" inventories.

It was great. There wasn't any additional charges because, the original estimator was not right. The bill was less. Their estimator was wrong but, the guy that did the installation, did a better estimate and came up with a better final cost. I've used them in the past.

This was scheduled for the day after I called to make an appointment. The person I spoke to (Taylor?) was very polite and efficient. She corrected a statement by another provider which seemed to imply I would not be able to fit the new water heater into the space - that was a relief. The service person was on time, and explained the need for the extras. Work was efficiently done. I bought the Angie's list deal as it was a bit cheaper than without.

Not so good. We won't use this company again. They just flushed out the tank and gave us an over priced estimate for a new tank. We then called Black Lion Heating and Air Conditioning. They came out and showed us the build up around the gas burner in the bottom of the tank. They cleaned out the build up around the burner and said that we didn't need a new tank. Have used Black Lion before and always happy with their service.

It went terrible. It was a bait and switch. They bait you with the low priced water heater, and when you bite they raise the installation price by adding unnecessary equipment, trying to replace things that dont need to be replaced, and trying to charge for things you already have.

Went great. I set it up in the morning and they were able to come same day. Replacement was easy and he even fixed a couple things that were done wrong with the previous installation. Has worked great with no trouble since. Received the permit & inspection record today for our city as promised, so I'll get that completed now. Serviceman was courteous and answered all my questions, which I had a lot of. Would recommend and hire again. Used the Angie's list coupon $100 for $200 of service with no problems.

My 9 year old water heater was leaking, so I contacted Fast Water Heater for an estimate to replace it. The appointment ended up being about a week out from my original call, as they rescheduled my original appointment last minute. They require you to be home for a 6 hour window - my technician came fairly early within the time slot and was able to give me a good overview of my options. I was also considering going tankless, but after he took a look at the gas line setup, he advised me that it would probably be cost-prohibitive. I ended up deciding to replace my existing heater with a similar model, and the technician was very patient and knowledgeable in answering all my questions (I had a lot, since my water heater ended up being a more rare and expensive model that is also connected to my hydronic system). The biggest hassle during the whole process was the lack of communication from the company. My technician promised to follow-up with me within a day or so on my options to replace the heater after the estimate, but it took me almost a week to get a response. I had to call the customer representatives several times, and each time they promised to get in touch with him and have him contact me - I did this 3 times before I finally got a call. I almost decided to go with another company, but their prices seemed fair, and I didn't want to redo the estimate process. Once I told them to go ahead and order the water heater, I was able to schedule the installation pretty easily - but again, no communication in the interim about the status of my order or ETA or anything. I even asked the technician to email me a copy of the estimate, which he promised to do, and never did. The installation itself was great - the technician came within the designated time slot and completed the repair in under 2 hours. The work looked professional and he left the area clean. No problems with the new heater. The customer communication and responsiveness was really lacking in my experience, to the point where I would consider other providers first next time.

They were great. Prompt and professional. We did not realize that our water pressure was quite high, and they told us how high it was and recommended we get a water pressure valve installed on our water main line. They also were out of the water heater we ordered, so they gave us an upgrade for the same price which was excellent. All of this was done in a few hours. I was thrilled because we were having a rough time with keeping our water hot. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again if needed.

They came out as scheduled, but after inspecting my water heater, it was decided that they could not perform the service. They gave me a quote for water heater replacement. I had purchased a Big Deal, and they recommended I request a refund (which I got). They did forget to turn my water heater back to the temperature it was, so it was on warm. This caused some distress since I had to take a cool shower the next morning, but after contacting them they admitted to forgetting and told me how to turn it back up myself. They seem like an honest company, which I appreciate.

Saturday I get a call from my HOA (where a tenant lives in our condo, 30 minutes away from our home) saying the water heater is leaking from our unit. I learned that this company has another install in the same condominium complex on Monday. So I made the call to Fast Water Heater right away, leaving a detailed message. I never heard from them. So on Sunday morning I made the second call to Fast Water Heater, after submitting an online request for service (which I got no response). We made the appointment for Monday June 1st, 2015, from 11 AM to 5 PM, and was told the installer, Dan, would call me 30 minutes before he would arrive. I was given the direct line (1-844-783-9386) to Lennon (the rep who took my order) in case I needed to call with any issues. I was quoted a base rate of just less than $1,000 for the new water heater (6 year gas), removal and haul-away of the old one, and installation of the new one. I'm thinking at this time, I have landed a professional company to handle my water heater replacement. I felt very confident about my choice now. Then came Monday. It was at 2:39 PM that I texted my tenants to ask if they heard from Dan the installer yet. They had not. Then at 2:58 PM I get this text message from the tenant saying he was at the door. I text back saying that he was supposed to call me with a 30 minute advance notice of his arrival. The response from Dan was "I was right next door doing someone else's; that's why I didn't call." (What kind of excuse is that? I knew he would be in the close vicinity, so that's even a greater reason to call me 30 minutes before arriving at my condo.) When I was in my 30 minute route to the condo, I received a call from Dan the installer. I asked why he didn't call me in advance, he lied saying he didn't know to call me before he arrived. He had assessed the water heater, and had the exacted quote for me, of $1,500 and some change! This was quite a bit more than the base -$1,000 figure quoted on Sunday. I asked for the breakdown of the costs. A portion of the increase was >$70 for the condo being on the third floor. I was told the first flight of stairs was free and the second flight would be $45 additional. I got on the phone with a Fast Water Heater rep named Jeff, and confirmed that I was not to be charged an additional $70 for the second flight of stairs. When I confronted the installer about the additional charge, and that the rep on the phone said I shouldn't be charged that, Dan showed me on his contract where it says if a flight of stairs is over 14 steps, then they charge me for each flight of stairs. (Each flight of our stairs has 17 steps, not 14 steps!) So while I'm still on the phone with Jeff, Dan the installer walks over me in the parking lot to where I was talking on the phone and to my wife. Jeff was telling me that we wouldn't have to pay for the first flight of stairs, and he would give me a $75 Angie's List discount (which I asked for), plus he would give us an additional $50 off for our trouble and the confusion. (This would knock off about $200 off the bill, which I'm happy about.) Dan then came to tell us he was leaving his estimate with us, and was taking off; if we decided to have the work done we could call him back! We were totally flabbergasted that he would walk off the job site like that! I shared with Jeff that the installer was now leaving, and Jeff said he would call me right back after he sorted it out. I never heard back from him, and I called the company (the same "special" number) at 4:59 PM, only to get the message that they are closed for the day. My wife called Sears to do the install; we made an appointment for the next day, and it was quite less costly than the Fast Water Heater company installation. We will see about that tomorrow.

I talked to him over the phone and he asked for the model and serial #. He advised that it was a 10 yr old, self cleaning water heater and he didn't advise that we have the flush done. He explained that it could likely do more harm than good and explained it would be a waste of money. He advised I would probably need to just replace it. I really appreciated this companies honesty and would highly recommend their services to others.

Originally I thought I had a spraying leak in one of my two 12 year old water heaters and so I was looking for an emergency replacement. I contacted Fast Water Heater company and Markus did a good job of talking me through some options on the phone. It took me a while to describe my system and he patiently took the time to describe and let me consider going with one bigger heater or sticking with two of the same size water heaters. He could only schedule the service in two days, which we did. In the meantime, I was able to determine that my immediate problem was actually a leak in one of the copper connecting lines and not in the heater itself. That enabled me to run to the hardware store and buy a replacement line and be up and running the same day. Since the existing heaters were so old and past their warranty period, I interpreted the experience as a wake-up call and a sign that I should replace them. My simple repair gave me some time to research heater options further. Through a combination of Internet research and discussions with Scott at Fast Water Heater, I changed my mind to go with two 40 gallon heaters instead of the one 75 gallon heater that seemed to be the better option to begin with. The company had no problem with me changing my mind. The installer was Mitch, and he did a wonderful job of reviewing my site on the first trip, making sure that the single large heater could be accommodated in my rather cramped space (no charge for the review and price estimate). On the second and final trip he did a very professional job of upgrading my installation space with better venting and drip pans with "run-off" lines as well as installing the two new heaters. I would certainly recommend this company for water heater replacement service.
